AN ALTERNATIVE SPECIFICATION FOR MODELING GROUNDWATER DYNAMICS

This research extends previous work with dynamic models to manage groundwater quality by using the consumptive nitrate use rate instead of the nitrate application rate. The analysis indicates that misspecification results in overestimation of economic benefits, and supra-optimum nitrogen fertilizer application rates and groundwater nitrate stocks at a steady state.     

Preparation of antimicrobial poly(vinyl alcohol) nanofibers containing silver nanoparticles

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers containing Ag nanoparticles were prepared by electrospinning PVA/silver nitrate (AgNO₃) aqueous solutions, followed by short heat treatment, and their antimicrobial activity was investigated for wound dressing applications. Since PVA is a water soluble and biocompatible polymer, it is one of the best materials for the preparation of wound dressing nanofibers. After heat treatment at 155 °C for 3 min, the PVA/AgNO₃ nanofibers became insoluble, while the Ag⁺ ions therein were reduced so as to produce a large number of Ag nanoparticles situated preferentially on their surface. The residual Ag⁺ ions were reduced by subsequent UV irradiation for 3 h. The average diameter of the Ag nanoparticles after the heat treatment was 5.9 nm and this value increased slightly to 6.3 nm after UV irradiation. It was found that most of the Ag⁺ ions were reduced by the simple heat treatment. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering study of polymer on metals. III. Chemisorbed polybenzimidazole and its corrosion-inhibiting properties at high temperature

Chemisorption of polybenzimidazole on silver and copper etched with nitric acid has been observed by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The polymer is found to react chemically with silver, forming a complexed film on the surface. The SERS spectra show that polybenzimidazole film inhibits oxidation of the metal at high temperature, unlike chemisorbed benzimidazole, benzotriazole, and poly(4-vinyl pyridine). © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Ca(NO3)2•4H2O-catalysed Biginelli Reaction: One-pot Synthesis of 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydropyrimidin-2-ones/pyrimidine-2-thiones under Solvent-free Conditions

The synthesis of 1,2,3,4-dihydropyrimidinone/thione derivatives was achieved in good to excellent yields using calcium(II) nitrate as catalyst to promote the Biginelli three-component condensation reaction from a diversity of aromatic aldehydes, β-keto compounds and urea or thiourea. The reaction was carried out under solvent-free conditions.     

Solid-phase oxidative halodecarboxylation of β-arylacrylic acids with the ceric ammonium nitrate—alkali halide system

The solid-phase oxidation of cinnamic, 4-methoxy- and 3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acids with Ce(NH₄)₂(NO₃)₆—MHal system leads to β-halostyrenes. Similar procedure in the absence of a metal halide results in a cleavage of the C=C bond giving the corresponding benzaldehydes. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. 石墨炉原子吸收光谱法直接测定血样中硒

用石墨炉原子吸收光谱法，以硝酸铜和硝酸铵为基体改进剂，塞曼效应扣背景，采用标准加入法可直接测定血样中硒，回收率为95％～105％，相对标准偏差为5．8％，检出限为96pg，测定结果准确可靠。     

Stabilization of Graphite Nitrate by Intercalation of Organic Compounds

New thermally stable intercalation compounds of graphite were obtained by the further intercalation of a series of organic compounds into graphite nitrate. The stabilization is explained by the formation of hydrogen bonds between the protonated form of the modifying substance and neutral surrounding molecules.     

双核银络合物[Ag_2(dppm)_2(Py)_2(μ-Cl)]ClO_4的合成与结构

二-(二苯基膦)甲烷(dppm)是一种易与金属形成多核络合物的有机膦配体。我们用dppm作为配体合成了一系列银的多核络合物,并对其结构进行了研究。本文报导了其中一个双核化合物[Ag_2(dppm)_2(Py)_2(μ-Cl)]ClO_4的合成及晶体结构、分子结构的测定。     

Water in melts: Raman spectral investigation of the molten Ca(NO3)2·4H2O−KNO3 system

The Raman spectra of molten mixtures of Ca(NO₃)₂\4H₂O–KNO₃ have been examined, covering the concentration range of 0–70 mole% KNO₃. The frequencies in the spectra of the mixtures have been found to change slightly with concentration. Striking variations in the band shapes have been observed in the regions corresponding to the O–H stretching mode (2850–3850 cm^–1) and the v₄-NO ₃ ^– mode (700–750 cm^–). The results are discussed in terms of perturbed quasi-lattice structure for the melt, in which there could be a displacement of water molecules in the first coordination sphere around Ca²⁺ by the NO ₃ ^– ion.
