Cationic polymerization of styrene in a neutral ionic liquid

The cationic polymerization of styrene in a neutral ionic liquid, 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, with a 1‐phenetyl chloride/TiCl₄ initiating system is reported. The polymerization proceeds to a high conversion, but an analysis of the matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight spectra of the polymers indicates that chain transfer is significant, leading to a lack of control over the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Multicyclic polyethers derived from 1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethane and 2,6‐dihalopyridines

Poly(pyridine ether)s were prepared in two ways: the polycondensation of silylated 1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethane (THPE) with 2,6‐difluoropyridine (method A) and the polycondensation of free THPE with 2,6‐dichloropyridine (method B). With method A, the THPE/difluoropyridine feed ratio was varied from 1.0:1.0 to 1.0:1.6. Cycles, bicycles, and multicycles were the main reaction products, and crosslinking was never observed. When ideal stoichiometry was used exclusively, multicycles free of functional groups were obtained. These multicycles were detectable in matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight (MALDI‐TOF) mass spectra up to B₃₈C₇₆ with a mass of approximately 32,000 Da. With method B, the reaction conditions were varied at a fixed feed ratio to achieve an optimum for the preparation of multicyclic polyethers, but because of the lower reactivity of 2,6‐dichloropyridine, a quantitative conversion was not achieved. Does in-source decay occur independent of the ionization process in matrix-assisted laser desorption?

The influence of the acidic and basic characters of constituent amino acid residues on the peptide fragment ions produced by in-source decay under matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) conditions has been studied using positive- and negative-ion experiments. Whereas the in-source decay spectra of peptides containing basic Arg and/or Lys residues near the N-terminus showed so-called c_n- and a_n-series ions in positive-ion mode, a peptide that has an acidic amino acid cluster near the N-terminus and a basic residue near the C-terminus characteristically formed y_n- and z_n-series ions in the positive-ion in-source decay spectrum. These results indicated that fragment ion series produced by in-source decay depend strongly upon the acidic and basic characters of the constituent amino acid residues and the near N- and C-termini. It was suggested that in-source decay processes occur intrinsically at NH–C^α and CO–NH bonds independent of the formation of molecular-related ions, and that the cleavages at the NH–C^α and CO–NH bonds occurred independently and were dependent on the matrix used.     

Synthesis of 2-methylidene-1-silacyclohexanes from 2,6-dibromohex-1-ene and polyhalosilanes

Various 2-methylidene-1-silacyclohexanes were prepared by straightforward syntheses from readily available polychloro- or polyfluorosilanes, magnesium and 2,6-dibromohex-1-ene using Barbier-type conditions or a previously synthesized Grignard reagent. Good yields were obtained considering the low stability of the products in the reaction conditions.     

New Synthetic Method for Industrial Manufacture of Glutaric Dialdehyde

A new synthetic method for the manufacture of glutaric dialdehyde is investigated. Glutaric dialdehyde was prepared by the addition-hydrolysis reaction of benzimidazolium salt with saturated dihalide as the di-Grignard reagent. The yield of glutaric dialdehyde by this method can reach 73%. Both infrared spectra and melting point of the compound were consistent with those reported earlier. Palladium-catalyzed novel addition-elimination reaction of alkenyltin reagents to norbornene

Palladium-catalyzed reaction between 1-alkenyltin trichlorides and norbornene resulted in stereoselective formation of 3-alkylidenepentacyclo[9.2.1.^5,81.^1,110.^2,100^4,9]pentadecane instead of an expected simple alkenylstannylation product. Generation of trichlorostannane and its decomposition product, tin(II) chloride, was confirmed by trapping it with methyl propiolate and norbornene and analysis of the reaction by ¹¹⁹Sn NMR, respectively.     

红外图像掠海小目标的检测算法研究

针对红外图像掠海小目标信噪比低，且易受到水天线和背景杂波干扰的特点，提出了一种红外掠海小目标的提取与检测算法。该方法的特点是：首先采用中值滤波来减小噪声，并提出了差方和算法，用以抑制背景噪声并对目标增强；再采用了图像行扫描法有效地滤除水天线；最后通过弱化背景边缘和阈值分割等综合算法得到候选小目标。仿真结果表明，该算法达到了较好的效果。     

Cyclic and telechelic ladder polymers derived from tetrahydroxytetramethylspirobisindane and 1,4‐dicyanotetrafluorobenzene

5,5′,6,6′‐Tetrahydroxy‐3,3,3′,3′‐tetramethylspirobisindane was polycondensed with 1,4‐dicyanotetrafluorobenzene in four different solvents at 70 °C. In dimethylformamide, N‐methylpyrrolidone, and sulfolane exclusively, cyclic polymers were detectable by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight (MALDI‐TOF) mass spectrometry up to masses around 13,000 Da. In dimethyl sulfoxide, linear byproducts were also found. Higher temperatures caused degradation reactions catalyzed by potassium carbonate. Polycondensations performed with the addition of 4‐tert‐butyl catechol or 2,2′‐dihydroxy binaphthyl yielded linear telechelic oligomers. Equimolar mixtures of linear and cyclic ladder polymers were examined by MALDI‐TOF mass spectra to determine how the end groups and the cyclic structure influenced the signal‐to‐noise ratio. ORGANIC CHELATING REAGENT ON REDOX ADSORPTION OF ACTIVATED CARBON FIBER TOWARDS Au^3+

Organic chelating reagent influences upon the redox adsorption of activated carbon fibertowards Au3- were systematically investigated. The experimental results indicated that the presenceof organic chelating reagent on activated carbon fiber strongly affects adsorption capacity ofactivated carbon fiber towards Au3+. The reduction-adsorption amount of Au3+ increased three timesby the presence of 8-quinolinol. Furthermore, The reduction-adsorption amount of Au3+ depended onthe pH value of adsorption and temperature.
