The molecular structures of the initial compounds and the products of photocyclization involving amino and azomethine groups in perchlorates ofN-amino (1) andN-azomethine (2) derivatives of 2,4,6-triphenylpyridinium cations were studied. Cations1 and2 have an essentially non-coplanar arrangement of the -Ph rings, and the product of photocyclization of2, cation3, is characterized by a flattened structure. It was found that the orientation of the lone electron pair of the N atom with respect to one of the planes of the -Ph rings in molecule1 is more favorable for monocyclization involving the amino group. The structure of molecule2 allows two routes of the photoreaction,viz., O N proton transfer and monocyclization with an -Ph ring. The UV photolysis of 2′-chloro-4-R-benzanilides in acetonitrile solution under nitrogen atmosphere leads to the formation of intramolecular photocyclization products (9-R-phenanthridin-6(5)-one, 20–30%), along with the minor photoreduction, photo-Fries, and intramolecular photosubstitution products. The photoreaction of 2′-chloro-4-R-benzanilide in acetonitrile solution containing 10% of water or aqueous sodium hydroxide however gives 2-(4-R-phenyl)-1,3-benzoxazole as a major product (30%) along with the photoreduction, photo-Fries and intramolecular photocyclization products.  相似文献

Photochromism of two bispyrryl-substituted ethenes, 2, 3-bis-(1-p-methoxyphenyl-5-phenyl-2-methyl-3-pyrryl)-2-butene (BPE1) and 2,3-bis(1-p-bromophenyl-4-phenyl-2-methyl-3-pyrryl)-2-butene (BPE2), was studied by laser flash photolysis technique. The results indicate that photocyclization of these compounds proceeds mainly via the excited triplet state, and the cis-trans isomerization proceeds mainly via the excited singlet state. After UV laser pulse irradiation, both photocylization and cis-trans isomerization of BPEl occur, but photocydization is the main reaction. On the other hand, laser photolysis of BPE2 leads mainly to photocydization. The effects of the substituents on the photochromic mechanism are also discussed.  相似文献

Phosphahelicenes with thiophosphinic acid and ester functions have been obtained by the oxidative photocyclisation of olefins bearing both a benzophenanthrene and a benzophosphole unit. When the method has been extended to olefins bearing a partially saturated benzophospholene unit, a divergent regioselectivity of the photocyclisation step has been observed, leading to new helicenes in which the phosphorus function is located on the external rim of the helical backbone. The observed regioselectivity correlates well with the free-valence numbers of the atoms involved in the photocyclisation reaction (DFT calculations).  相似文献

Photochemical oxidative cyclodehydrogenation reactions are a versatile class of aromatic ring‐forming reactions. They are tolerant to functional group substitution and heteroatom inclusion, so can be used to form a diverse range of extended polyaromatic systems by fusing existing ring substituents. However, despite their undoubted synthetic utility, there are no existing models—computational or heuristic—that predict the outcome of photocyclisation reactions across all possible classes of reactants. This can be traced back to the fact that “negative” results are rarely published in the synthetic literature and the lack of a general conceptual framework for understanding how photoexcitation affects reactivity. In this work, we address both of these issues. We present experimental data for a series of aromatically substituted pyrroles and indoles, and show that quantifying induced atomic forces upon photoexcitation provides a powerful predictive model for determining whether a given reactant will photoplanarise and hence proceed to photocyclised product under appropriate reaction conditions. The propensity of a molecule to photoplanarise is related to localised changes in charge distribution around the putative forming ring upon photoexcitation. This is promoted by asymmetry in molecular structures and/or charge distributions, inclusion of heteroatoms and ethylene bridging and well‐separated or isolated photocyclisation sites.  相似文献

New types of phototransformations in the quinone series, viz., photocyclizations of 1-aryloxy-2-azido-9,10-anthraquinone in the presence of phenols, were studied. The photolysis affords mainly 5H-naphtho[2,3-c]phenoxazine-8,13-diones, in which the nitrogen atom is covalently bound to the phenyl ring of the attached phenol. As a result, complex polycyclic derivatives of phenoxazines were prepared in high yields in one step. Dedicated to the memory of Academician N. N. Vorozhtsov on the 100th anniversary of his birth. In the present study, we have investigated different strategies for diastereoselective synthesis of thia[n]helicenes. We describe the introduction of different chiral auxiliaries at various positions and investigated their effect in the photocyclization reaction. Different chiral groups were placed at the sterically hindered position of the helical core and their interactions with various solvents and metals like copper were investigated. The use of CuI salts has led to high diastereoselectivity in the photocyclization process and we were successful in obtaining the thia[5]helicene in enantiomerically pure form in good yield. The single diastereomer obtained was characterized by X‐ray crystallography. From the study of the barrier of racemization of these thia[5]helicenes, the stability was found to be comparable to unsubstituted tetrathia[7]helicenes and substituted diazadithia[7]helicenes. This approach provides an easy access to enantiopure helicenes.  相似文献

Photoactive hyperbranched benzylidene liquid‐crystalline polyester (PAHBP) and photoactive linear benzylidene liquid‐crystalline polyester (PALBP) were synthesized by solution polycondensation with pyridine as an acid acceptor. PAHBP and PALBP were thoroughly characterized with Fourier transform infrared, 1H and 13C NMR, ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometry, fluorescent spectrophotometry, gel permeation chromatography, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and polarized optical microscopy. Both polymers exhibited nematic mesophase. The glass‐transition temperature and liquid‐crystalline isotropic temperature of PAHBP were higher than those of PALBP. During photolysis under ultraviolet light, both polymers underwent an intermolecular photocycloaddition reaction, and the photoactivity of PAHBP was faster than that of PALBP; this was further confirmed by photoviscosity studies. PALBP and PAHBP were fluorescent in nature. An increase in the fluorescence intensity with the time of ultraviolet‐light irradiation was observed for both PAHBP and PALBP. The rate of increase in the fluorescence intensity of the linear analogue (PALBP) was higher than that of the hyperbranched polymer (PAHBP). This behavior could be attributed to the attainment of better planarity in the case of the linear one but not in the case of PAHBP because of the rapid crosslinking of PAHBP leading to an irregular architecture.
