The manufacturing of ophthalmic lenses is one of the most important markets worldwide and, therefore, strong research efforts are undertaken to continuously improve the quality of the products, either silicate glasses or organic polymer lenses. Hybrid sol-gel based materials play a major role in this highly competitive field and have contributed significantly to the commercial success of the organic base materials. Recent developments concern fast curing and patternable coatings that might soon become part of this business. The compatibility of hybrid sol-gel materials either with organic dyes or with inorganic vacuum borne coatings offers further possibilities to develop highly sophisticated lenses meeting not only customer needs like perfect corrective function, high optical quality and protection, but also high durability as well as cosmetic and decorative aspects. The synthesis of photochromic optically active copolymers from trans-4-(phenylazo)-1-naphthyl acrylate (PANA), or trans-4-(1-naphthylazo)-phenyl acrylate (NAPA), and (?)-menthyl acrylate (MtA) is described. The copolymers prepared, having different contents of trans-phenylazonaphthalene moieties, have been characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, UV, and GPC techniques. The chiroptical properties have been investigated by circular dichroism (CD) and the induced optical activity on the side-chain trans-phenylazonaphthalene chromophores discussed in terms of different conformational situations of the macromolecules in both the copolymer series. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A series of photo active azido analogues have been synthesized and their photochromic properties have also been investigated by UV-Vis spectrum. It will be used for the rapid and reliable preparation of large amounts of stable, non-radioactive labeled DNA and RNA hybridization probes. Photochromism of two bispyrryl-substituted ethenes, 2, 3-bis-(1-p-methoxyphenyl-5-phenyl-2-methyl-3-pyrryl)-2-butene (BPE1) and 2,3-bis(1-p-bromophenyl-4-phenyl-2-methyl-3-pyrryl)-2-butene (BPE2), was studied by laser flash photolysis technique. The results indicate that photocyclization of these compounds proceeds mainly via the excited triplet state, and the cis-trans isomerization proceeds mainly via the excited singlet state. After UV laser pulse irradiation, both photocylization and cis-trans isomerization of BPEl occur, but photocydization is the main reaction. On the other hand, laser photolysis of BPE2 leads mainly to photocydization. The effects of the substituents on the photochromic mechanism are also discussed.  相似文献

Polystyrene‐b‐poly(1,2‐isoprene‐ran‐3,4‐isoprene) block copolymers with azobenzene side groups were synthesized by the esterification of azobenzene acid chloride with polystyrene‐b‐hydroxylated poly(1,2‐isoprene‐ran‐3,4‐isopenre) block copolymers for creating new photochromic materials. The resulting block copolymers with azobenzene side groups were characterized for structural, thermal, and morphological properties. IR and NMR spectroscopies confirmed that the polymers obtained had the expected structures. Differential scanning calorimetric measurements by heating runs clearly showed the glass transitions of polystyrene and polyisoprene main chains and two distinct first‐order transitions at temperatures of azobenzene side groups around 48 and 83 °C. The microstructure of these block copolymer films was investigated using both transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and near‐field optical microscopy (NOM). TEM images revealed typical microphase‐separated morphologies such as sphere, cylinder, and lamellar structures. The domain spacing of microphase‐separated cylindrical morphology in the NOM image agreed with that of the TEM results. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 本文报道了2,3-双 (1,2-二甲基-3-吲哚基)-2-丁烯 (DF1),2,3-双 (1,4-二苯基-2-甲基-3-吡咯基)-2-丁烯 (DF2), 2,3-双(1-对甲苯基-4-苯基-2-甲基-3-吡咯基)-2-丁烯 (DF3), 2,3-双(1-对溴苯基-4-苯基-2-甲基-3-吡咯基)-2-丁烯 (DF4) 和2,3-双 (1-对甲氧苯基-5-苯基-2-甲基-3-吡咯基)-2-丁烯 (DF5) 的合成,以及它们的光致变色行为的研究。特别是DF1和DF5的光呈色和光消色过程进行了较为细致的研究。  相似文献

It was shown by electron absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis that steric strains in photochromic 2-(N-acyl-N-arylaminomethylene) benzo[b]thiophen-3(2H)-one molecules ortho-substituted in the N-phenyl ring increase the quantum yield of the N→O photoinduced rearrangement in accord with an increase in the steric constant of the ortho-substituent.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Phototriggered intramolecular isomerization in a series of ruthenium sulfoxide complexes, [Ru(L)(tpy)(DMSO)]n+ (where tpy=2,2’:6’,2’’‐terpyridine; DMSO=dimethyl sulfoxide; L=2,2’‐bipyridine (bpy), n=2; N,N,N’,N’‐tetramethylethylenediamine (tmen) n=2; picolinate (pic), n=1; acetylacetonate (acac), n=1; oxalate (ox), n=0; malonate (mal), n=0), was investigated theoretically. It is observed that the metal‐centered ligand field (3MC) state plays an important role in the excited state S→O isomerization of the coordinated DMSO ligand. If the population of 3MCS state is thermally accessible and no 3MCO can be populated from this state, photoisomerization will be turned off because the 3MCS excited state is expected to lead to fast radiationless decay back to the original 1GSS ground state or photodecomposition along the Ru2+?S stretching coordinate. On the contrary, if the population of 3MCS (or 3MCO) state is inaccessible, photoinduced S→O isomerization can proceed adiabatically on the potential energy surface of the metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer excited states (3MLCTS3MLCTO). It is hoped that these results can provide valuable information for the excited state isomerization in photochromic d6 transition‐metal complexes, which is both experimentally and intellectually challenging as a field of study.  相似文献
