Iron catalysts have been used widely for the mass production of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with high yield. In this study, UV/visible spectroscopy was used to determine the Fe catalyst content in CNTs using a colorimetric technique. Fe ions in solution form red–orange complexes with 1,10-phenanthroline, producing an absorption peak at λ=510 nm, the intensity of which is proportional to the solution Fe concentration. A series of standard Fe solutions were formulated to establish the relationship between optical absorbance and Fe concentration. Many Fe catalysts were microscopically observed to be encased by graphitic layers, thus preventing their extraction. Fe catalyst dissolution from CNTs was investigated with various single and mixed acids, and Fe concentration was found to be highest with CNTs being held at reflux in HClO4/HNO3 and H2SO4/HNO3 mixtures. This novel colorimetric method to measure Fe concentrations by UV/Vis spectroscopy was validated by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, indicating its reliability and applicability to asses Fe content in CNTs.  相似文献

The structure of the title adduct comprises a phenanthroline derivative 2-phenyl-imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline and a methanol.The composition of the crystalline adduct was characterized as C19H12N4.CH3OH.It belongs to orthorhombic system,space group Pna21 with a=1.3693(4)nm,b=2.2988(7)nm,c=0.51338(15)nm,V=1.6160(8)nm^3.Z=4,and final R1=0.0423.wR2=0.1012 .Crystal structure shows that all the 19 carbon atoms and 4 nitrogen atoms are coplanar.The bond length data indicated that a very extensive conjugation system was formed.This conjugation makes the compound being a potentially excellent energy transformer used for luminescent materials.  相似文献

An efficient one-pot synthesis of a macrocyclic ligand, consisting of two 1,10-phenanthroline nuclei bridged by sulfur, is described. A spectrophotometric investigation reveals the isolated compound to be the mono-trifluoroacetate salt. Symmetrical NH- and S-bridged tetradentate ligands were also synthesized by the new method.  相似文献

Three new 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives, i.e. 5-[(4-styryl-benzylidene)-amino]-quinolin-8-ol (1), 5-[(4-bromo-2-fluoro-benzylidene)-amino]-quinoline-8-ol (2) and 2-[2-(9-ethyl-9H-carbazol-2yl)-vinyl]-quinolin-8-ol (3), and their metallic complexes were synthesized and identified by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), mass spectrometry (MS) spectra and elemental analyses. Their fluorescence properties were studied by photoluminescence, which indicated that the luminescence wavelength of 5-and 2-substitued-8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives shifted to red in comparison with that of 8-hydroxyquinoline.
