Investigation of the Reactions of Quinolinium Ylide with Nitrostyrenes

The reactions of nitrostyrenes with quinolinium ylide have been investigated. Previously unknown 2-aryl-1-benzoyl-3-nitro-1,2,3,3a-tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]quinolines have been obtained and their stereochemistry has been established.     

Efficient Method for the Synthesis of Michael Adducts Using Kaolin Preloaded with KOH

Michael addition of various active methylene compounds to β-nitrostyrenes is efficiently catalyzed by using Kaolin preloaded with KOH in acetonitrile at room temperature with moderate to good yields.     

Sulfated tungstate a heterogeneous acid catalyst for synthesis of 4-aryl-NH-1,2,3-triazoles by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitroolefins with NaN3

A facile and new method for the synthesis of 4-aryl-NH-1,2,3-triazoles from nitroolefins and NaN₃ by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction, employing a mild solid inorganic acid sulfated tungstate as a heterogeneous catalyst, has been developed. The protocol emphasizes broad substrate scope with many functionalities, less reaction time, stability to open air, easy work-up, and with good to excellent yields.     

Stereoselective epoxidation of 4-fluoro-4-nitrocyclohexenes

Novel fluorinated α-epoxycyclohexanes were synthesized in up to 96% yields by epoxidation of the Diels–Alder adducts of β-fluoro-β-nitrostyrenes and 2,3-dimethylbuta-1,3-diene. The epoxidation with m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid and subsequent hydrolysis into diols were found to proceed in a highly stereoselective manner.
