Synthesis and Self-Assembly of Mixed-Graft Block Copolymers

Mixed-graft block copolymers (mGBCPs) consist of two or more types of polymeric side chains grafted on a linear backbone in a random, alternating, or pseudo-alternating sequence. They can phase-separate with the backbone serving as the interface of the blocks, and the side chains dominate their self-assembly behavior. mGBCPs are an accessible polymer architecture for exploring the idea of encoding polymer properties through the macromolecular architecture, as there are two distinct structural components that can be tuned: the backbone and the side chains. In this Concept article, the current literature on the synthesis of mGBCPs is reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of each synthetic method are noted. The self-assembly of mGBCPs is also discussed where possible. Finally, directions for future research on mGBCP synthesis and self-assembly are suggested.

Characterisation of Sol-Gel TiO2 Films by Etching

This article describes the SmartKom Companion, one of three demonstrators developed within the SmartKom project whose goal has been to provide an intuitive and intelligent interface for non-expert users to everyday computer-based applications in different scenarios of use. Conceived for the SmartKom Mobile scenario, the Companion allows intuitive multimodal interaction for drivers and pedestrians. The development of the SmartKom prototypes was constantly accompanied by Wizard-of-Oz experiments as well as system evaluations at different stages of the project. Some usability evaluation results relative to the SmartKom Companion will also be presented.     

含丙磺舒高分子药物的合成与表征

非甾体抗炎药丙磺舒以酯键连接到甲基丙烯酸2-羟乙酯上得含丙磺舒单体HP，HP在偶氮二异丁腈引发下均聚、与甲基丙烯酸甲酯共聚合成了含丙磺舒的高分子药物，产物结构经IR，1HNMR和GPC表征。     

在"高聚物的结构与性能"课程中应该引入的几个新概念

在“高聚物的结构与性能”课程教学中，很有必要向学生介绍高分子科学近十几年来的发展，尤其是在高分子凝聚态基本物理问题上的研究成果以及相关的新概念、新知识，特别是我国学者的贡献。本文较为详细地讨论了近年来作者在教学中介绍的几个新概念，如：动态接触浓度、单链凝聚态、凝聚缠结等。     

Hyperbranched polycyclocarbosiloxane

A new cross-linkable naphthalene-cyclocarbosiloxane was synthesised starting from bis[1,4-bis(methylhydrosiloxanyl)-dihydronaphthalene] via catalytic addition of the Si-H reactive groups to the unsaturated bond of triethoxyvinylsilane. Hyperbranched polycyclocarbosiloxane networks were formed by condensation of the alcoxyl groups in the presence of dibutyltin dilaurate as catalyst. The cross-linking process was studied in order to obtain information concerning the values of the reaction parameters and to determine the position of the gelation point relative to conversion.GPC analysis, IR, and 1H-NMR spectral analysis techniques were used to investigate the chemical structures of the intermediates and of the product.

Two organic–inorganic hybrid compounds constructed from 12-tungstovanadate and bipyridine

Two rare 12-tungstovanadate-bipyridine inorganic–organic hybrid compounds, [VW₁₂O₄₀] · 2(4,4′-H₂bipy) · 2H₂O (1) and [VW₁₂O₄₀] · 4(2,2′-Hbipy) (2), have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and IR analysis. In 1, a 2-D supramolecular architecture is formed by hydrogen-bonding between [VW₁₂O₄₀]^4? and bipy. Compound 1 shows good activity for photocatalytic reduction of rhodamine B in a liquid–solid system. The electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties of 2-bulk carbon paste electrode modified with 2 were investigated by cyclic voltammetry.     

Ethylene/hindered phenol substituted norbornene copolymers: Synthesis and NMR structural determination

A new family of ethylene‐based copolymers with controlled amounts of a norbornene comonomer (N_ArOH) bearing a stabilizing antioxidant functionality (2,6‐di‐tert‐butyl phenol) was prepared. Due to unavoidable exo/endo equilibrium operative in N_ArOH comonomer, a complete and detailed NMR assignment of the structure of the prepared ethylene/N_ArOH copolymers was carried out for the determination of the exo/endo ratio inside the polymer. These novel functionalized comonomers can be considered suitable starting material for preparing ethylene‐based copolymers, with tunable comonomer content, as non‐releasing macromolecular antioxidant additives for specific application in safe food and/or drug packaging © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
