Efficient microwave induced direct α-halogenation of carbonyl compounds

A novel and direct method for the synthesis of α-halocarbonyl compounds using sequential treatment of carbonyl compounds with [hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene followed by magnesium halides under solvent-free microwave irradiation conditions is described.     

On many‐sorted algebraic closure operators

A theorem of Birkhoff‐Frink asserts that every algebraic closure operator on an ordinary set arises, from some algebraic structure on the set, as the corresponding generated subalgebra operator. However, for many‐sorted sets, i.e., indexed families of sets, such a theorem is not longer true without qualification. The effect of voice lessons on the clinical and perceptual skills of graduate students in speech-language pathology

Two groups of 10 speech-language pathology graduate students were each given 7 weeks of singing lessons to determine whether voice lessons could have an effect on their clinical and perceptual skills. Pre-, mid-, and posttests to measure various skills were designed and implemented. With use of paired sample statistical testing, statistically significant results were obtained. In addition, the subjective responses of the students show that the lessons were effective in improving pitch perception, breath control, and legato production or easy onset. This study supports efforts to integrate curricula in vocal performance and speech-language pathology.     

Synthesis and Structure of Novel Organocycloborates

A series of α,ω‐boryl(bromo)alkanes of the general formula R₂B? (CH₂)_n? Br (n=3, 4, 5, 6) was obtained in high yield following a standard hydroboration protocol. Upon treatment with Mg turnings and formation of the respective Grignard species, all alkanes with n=4 to 6 underwent an unprecedented boron‐centered cyclisation reaction with formation of boratacyclopentanes, ‐hexanes, and ‐heptanes, respectively. All new compounds were isolated in high yields as colourless, crystalline materials and characterised in solution by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Four representative examples were chosen for X‐ray diffraction studies, thus providing the first structurally characterised ring systems of that size at a tetraalkyl borate centre.     

混合效应模型中的D-最优设计

本研究的是混合效应-Ⅱ模型，首先，给出二阶模型存在D-最优回归设计点的必要条件。其次，组合D-最优回归设计和D-最优区组设计BIBD构造D-最优设计并给出寻找新的D-最优设计点的方法。以两种有代表性的组合误差分布为例，阐明新的D-最优设计点的获得过程，并给出了数值结果。     

Conditional expectation of integrands and random sets

The conditional expectation of integrands and random sets is the main tool of stochastic optimization. This work wishes to make up for the lack of real synthesis about this subject. We improve the existing hypothesis and simplify the corresponding proofs. In the convex case we especially study the problem of the exchange of conditional expectation and subdifferential operators.     

MgO在Mg-hBN体系中对合成cBN晶体的影响

 以金属镁粉为触媒，以六角氮化硼为原料，其中加入适量比例的氧化镁，在国产六面顶压机上，在约5.0 GPa压力、1 500～1 800 K温度条件下，合成出了颜色均匀、晶形完整的黄色立方氮化硼单晶体。实验结果表明，在Mg-hBN体系中，氧化镁对合成cBN晶体的颜色及合成温度有很大的影响。     

Diagramme polythermique du systeme ternaire H2O—Al(NO3)3—Mg(NO3)2

The solid—liquid equilibria of the ternary system H₂O—Al(NO₃)₃—Mg(NO₃)₂ were studied at –30, –20, –10 and 0°C by using a synthetic method which allows to detemine all the characteristic points of isothermal sections. The stable solid phases which appear are respectively: ice, Al(NO₃)₃·9H₂O, Mg(NO₃)₂·9H₂O and Mg(NO₃)₂·6H₂O. Neither double salts nor mixed crystals are observed in the temperature and composition field studied. Polytherm diagram layout show two invariant transformations correspond with an eutectic point and a peritectic point.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.

On the role of heterogeneous and imperfect information in a laboratory financial market

In this paper, we analyze the behavior of a group of heterogeneously informed investors in an laboratory asset market. Our experimental setting is inspired by Huber et al. (On the benefit of information in markets with heterogeneously informed traders: an experimental study, 2004). However, instead of their system of cumulative and exogenously given information structure, we introduce an information market where the traders can buy an imperfect prediction of the future value of the dividend with a maximum anticipation of four periods. The accuracy of the prediction decreases with the chosen time horizon, whereas its price remains constant. Our results confirm a non-strictly monotonic increasing value of the information.
