7‐Octenyldimethylphenylsilane was copolymerized with ethylene via Et(Ind)2ZrCl2 methylaluminoxane catalyst system without loss of catalyst activity or decrease in molar mass. The comonomer contents in the polymer samples were at a level of 0.15–1.0 mol % and the reactive phenylsilane groups were posttreated to different alcoxy‐ and halosilane groups, for example, Si? F, Si? Cl, Si? OCH3, and Si? OCH2CH3. The posttreatment reactions had no major effect on the molar masses or on the thermal properties (measured with differential scanning calorimetry) of the copolymers. The reaction pathways were nearly independent of the comonomer contents and the reactions reached 70–100% conversions. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  The surface tension versus temperature data of homologous series of n-alkanes and n-alkenes is analyzed. Critical temperatures are shown to be predicted from these data, with a very high precision, after some corrections are made. General purpose poly(styrene) is a large volume commodity polymer widely used in a range of applications. For many of these the presence of an additive to impart some flammability resistance is required. Most commonly, brominated aromatics are used for this purpose. As the polymer undergoes combustion these compounds decompose to generate bromine atoms and/or hydrogen bromide which escape to the gas phase and trap flame propagating radicals. While these species are effective in inhibiting flame propagation they present the opportunity for loss of halogen to the atmosphere. For this reason, the use of these compounds is being limited in some parts of the world. Phosphorus compounds, on the other had, impart a flame retarding influence by promoting char formation at the surface of the burning polymer. This prevents heat feedback to the polymer and consequent pyrolysis to generate fuel fragments. The combination of both bromine and phosphorus present in a single compound might generate a superior flame-retarding additive in that both modes of retardancy might be promoted simultaneously. Should this be the case smaller amounts of additive might be necessary to achieve a satisfactory level of flame retardancy. A series of such additives, brominated aryl phosphates, has been synthesized and fully characterized spectroscopically. Blends of these additives, at various levels, with poly(styrene) have been examined by DSC, TG and in the UL-94 flame test. The flammability of the polymer is dramatically diminished by the presence of the additive.  相似文献

The synthesis of some divinyl monomers—bis(vinylphenyl)ethane ( 2 ), bis(vinylbenzyloxy)hexane ( 3a ), and bis(vinylbenzyloxy)dodecane ( 3b ) is reported. Copolymers of the new monomers and styrene were evaluated as an alternative to divinylbenzene-crosslinked polymers for use as matrices and absorbents. The mechanical properties and the amount of residual double bonds in the copolymers were compared. It was found that the new copolymers, unlike the divinylbenzene-crosslinked polymers, retained their mechanical strength even at high crosslinking degrees. Stress at break values of 79, 68, and 18 N/mm2 were found for the polymers crosslinked with 20 mol % of 3a, 2 , and divinylbenzene; 5, 25 and 45% of the divinyl units in these polymers were left as pendant double bonds. Porous styrene– 2 copolymers were synthesized and shown to have lower surface areas than the corresponding divinylbenzene-crosslinked polymers. The pore size distribution showed that this was due to the absence of the smallest pores which are found in the divinylbenzene-crosslinked polymers in between heavily crosslinked nodules. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A set of novel graph-theoretical parameters,called the atomic distance-edge (ADE) vector,was developed.Based on the connecting C-C bond number between central carbon atom and the other ones,various carbon atoms of alkanes were classified as four types,i.e.,type 1,2,3 and 4 for primary,secondary,ternary and quaternary carbon,respectively; and then four regression equations were obtained to link carbon-13 chemical shift (CS) of each type of atoms.Furthermore,these regression models were used to predict the carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of alkanes and it was found that the estimated CS were in agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

Alkanes (cyclohexane, hexane, heptane isomers) are effectively oxidized in CH3CN at 20–70°C by hydrogen peroxide when catalyzed by a Bu4NVO3-pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid system. Alkyl hydroperoxide is the main product; an alcohol and a ketone or an aldehyde are also formed. Under these conditions benzene is oxidized to give phenol, while alkyl benzenes yield oxygenation products both of the ring and the side chain. It has been assumed that the interaction of H2O2 with VO3 gives rise to generation of HO radicals and other radical-like vanadium containing species that abstract a hydrogen atom from an alkane, RH. Gas-chromatographic experiments were carried out in various phases of the solvents 4-acetoxy-N-[4-methoxy-benzylidene]-aniline, dibutoxyazoxybenzene, lithium stearate, dihexoxyazoxybenzene, and diheptoxyazoxybenzene. The solutes were linear, branched and cyclic alkanes, and substituted benzenes. Excess enthalpies, entropies, and free entropies were calculated from net retention volumes. In the nematic liquid crystalline phases the effect of order disturbance was significant in and but it was, by enthalpy-entropy compensation, not demonstrable in . Differences in flexibility and degree of expansion of the solutes did not result in significantly different values of the excess quantities.  相似文献
