In this work, we have studied the oxidation process of the bismuth doped graphene in the ambient air. Complete oxidation of the bismuth clusters and that of the graphene are firmly confirmed. The influence of oxygen on the graphene is characterized by means of Hall measurement and SdH oscillation. All transport measurements demonstrate a hole-type doping behavior. Our work also demonstrates that the short-range scattering mechanism is enhanced in doped graphene due to accumulated O-species adsorbates after being exposed in the atmosphere for 40 days and is suppressed after annealing. This investigation may open a new perspective for fabricating the graphene metal oxide devices.  相似文献

This review provides an overview of recent advances that have been achieved in understanding the basic physics of friction and energy dissipation in molecularly thin adsorbed films and the associated impact on friction at microscopic and macroscopic length scales. Topics covered include a historical overview of the fundamental understanding of macroscopic friction, theoretical treatments of phononic and electronic energy dissipation mechanisms in thin films, and current experimental methods capable of probing such phenomena. Measurements performed on adsorbates sliding in unconfined geometries with the quartz crystal microbalance technique receive particular attention. The final sections review the experimental literature of how measurements of sliding friction in thin films reveal energy dissipation mechanisms and how the results can be linked to film-spreading behavior, lubrication, film phase transitions, superconductivity-dependent friction, and microelectromechanical systems applications. Materials systems reported on include adsorbed films comprised of helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, water, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, ethane, ethanol, trifluoroethanol, methanol, cyclohexane, ethylene, pentanol, toluene, tricresylphosphate, t-butylphenyl phosphate, benzene, and iodobenzene. Substrates reported on include silver, gold, aluminum, copper, nickel, lead, silicon, graphite, graphene, fullerenes, C60, diamond, carbon, diamond-like carbon, and YBa2Cu3O7, and self-assembled monolayers consisting of tethered polymeric molecules.  相似文献

The behaviour of water and water/organic mixtures adsorbed onto activated microporous carbons or a carbon adsorbent with narrow intraparticle micropores and broad mesopores and macropores between nanoparticles was studied using low-temperature adsorption method and 1H NMR spectroscopy with layer-by-layer freezing-out of liquids at 190-273 K. These investigations revealed concentration-dependent effects of benzene, DMSO, acetone, chloroform, methane and acetonitrile on the characteristics of adsorbed water and the influence of this water on the interfacial behaviour of adsorbed organics. The influence of organics causes the structural and energetic differentiations of adsorbed water. The latter can be displaced by organics from micropores into broader pores and/or form mixture with polar solvents in meso and macropores. Freezing of adsorbed water can affect the adsorbent structure because ice crystallites have a larger size than that of liquid water droplets that lead to changes in the behaviour of adsorbed water/organic mixtures observed by the 1H NMR and adsorption methods.  相似文献

We have measured in real-time the chemical reaction-induced weight loss and variation in physical and mechanical properties of sub-nanogram quantities of deposits utilizing the resonance response of microcantilevers. The hydrogen reduction of sub-nanogram quantities of alpha platinum oxide deposited on micromachined silicon cantilevers and resultant weight loss, as well as the kinetics of this process, were investigated. Comparison with theory suggests that this technique could be a powerful tool to measure physical and chemical changes occurring on sub-nanogram deposits.  相似文献

Polymer thin films have irregular transient current characteristics under constant voltage. In hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers, the irregularity is also known to depend on the humidity absorbed by the polymer sample. Different stretched exponential models are studied and it is shown that the absorption of humidity as a function of time can be adequately modelled by a class of these stretched exponential absorption models.  相似文献

Plasma-boundaries floating in an ionized gas are usually negatively charged. They accumulate electrons more efficiently than ions leading to the formation of a quasi-stationary electron film at the boundaries. We propose to interpret the build-up of surface charges at inert plasma boundaries, where other surface modifications, for instance, implantation of particles and reconstruction or destruction of the surface due to impact of high energy particles can be neglected, as a physisorption process in front of the wall. The electron sticking coefficient se and the electron desorption time τe, which play an important role in determining the quasi-stationary surface charge, and about which little is empirically and theoretically known, can then be calculated from microscopic models for the electron-wall interaction. Irrespective of the sophistication of the models, the static part of the electron-wall interaction determines the binding energy of the electron, whereas inelastic processes at the wall determine se and τe. As an illustration, we calculate se and τe for a metal, using the simplest model in which the static part of the electron-metal interaction is approximated by the classical image potential. Assuming electrons from the plasma to loose (gain) energy at the surface by creating (annihilating) electron-hole pairs in the metal, which is treated as a jellium half-space with an infinitely high workfunction, we obtain se≈10-4 and τe≈10-2 s. The product seτe≈10-6 s has the order of magnitude expected from our earlier results for the charge of dust particles in a plasma but individually se is unexpectedly small and τe is somewhat large. The former is a consequence of the small matrix elements occurring in the simple model while the latter is due to the large binding energy of the electron. More sophisticated theoretical investigations, but also experimental support, are clearly needed because if se is indeed as small as our exploratory calculation suggests, it would have severe consequences for the understanding of the formation of surface charges at plasma boundaries. To identify what we believe are key issues of the electronic microphysics at inert plasma boundaries and to inspire other groups to join us on our journey is the purpose of this colloquial presentation.  相似文献

During the last decade, interest on the growth and self-assembly of organic molecular species on solid surfaces spread over the scientific community, largely motivated by the promise of cheap, flexible and tunable organic electronic and optoelectronic devices. These efforts lead to important advances in our understanding of the nature and strength of the non-bonding intermolecular interactions that control the assembly of the organic building blocks on solid surfaces, which have been recently reviewed in a number of excellent papers. To a large extent, such studies were possible because of a smart choice of model substrate-adsorbate systems where the molecule-substrate interactions were purposefully kept low, so that most of the observed supramolecular structures could be understood simply by considering intermolecular interactions, keeping the role of the surface always relatively small (although not completely negligible). On the other hand, the systems which are more relevant for the development of organic electronic devices include molecular species which are electron donors, acceptors or blends of donors and acceptors. Adsorption of such organic species on solid surfaces is bound to be accompanied by charge-transfer processes between the substrate and the adsorbates, and the physical and chemical properties of the molecules cannot be expected any longer to be the same as in solution phase. In recent years, a number of groups around the world have started tackling the problem of the adsorption, self- assembly and electronic and chemical properties of organic species which interact rather strongly with the surface, and for which charge-transfer must be considered. The picture that is emerging shows that charge transfer can lead to a plethora of new phenomena, from the development of delocalized band-like electron states at molecular overlayers, to the existence of new substrate-mediated intermolecular interactions or the strong modification of the chemical reactivity of the adsorbates. The aim of this review is to start drawing general conclusions and developing new concepts which will help the scientific community to proceed more efficiently towards the understanding of organic/inorganic interfaces in the strong interaction limit, where charge-transfer effects must be taken into consideration.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles deposited on various ‘inert’ porous materials (mainly Al2O3 and TiO2) are often used as substrates for surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) measurements. In this study, we used the sputter deposition technique to cover tubular arrays of Al2O3 and TiO2 with Ag nanoparticles. Raman spectra of pyridine (as a probe molecule) and of two selected dyes (5‐(4‐dimethylaminobenzylidene)rhodanine and 5‐(4‐(dimethylamino)benzylidene)‐3‐(3‐methoxypropyl)rhodanine) adsorbed on fabricated Ag/TiO2‐n/Ti and Ag/Al2O3‐n/Al substrates were measured. We found that the SERS spectra of pyridine adsorbed on Ag nanoparticles deposited on an Al2O3‐n/Al substrate are distinctly different from those measured for an Ag/TiO2‐n/Ti composite. Similar effects were observed for dyes adsorbed on the surface of both composites. The spectral differences between two kinds of composites (Ag/TiO2‐n/Ti and Ag/Al2O3‐n/Al) are discussed in terms of (1) the modified electronic structure of the Ag nanoparticles due to their interaction with different substrate materials and (2) the different atomic topology of the metal particles thus deposited on the surfaces of the substrates. Composite samples were also studied with the aid of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) to reveal their characteristic morphological and chemical features. In order to describe processes which are localized on a surface or inside the bulk of a solid, molecular calculations of an inner cluster may be adequate as long as the effect of the outer environment is taken into account via an embedding-method. Using a relativistic density functional method for the self-consistent cluster calculation we have developed a new cluster-embedding scheme here. As an example we have studied the adsorption of Al on an Al(100) surface and we get significant agreement with different methods. This indicates that this embedding-method is reliable enough to simulate an unlimited solid. Received 29 November 2000  相似文献

Thin solid films and surfaces are characterized by IR spectroscopy, based on reflectance and transmittance measurements, in particular with polarized light at oblique incidence. Thus two independent data sets fors- andp-polarization are available. Atp-polarization additional absorption lines at the zeros of the dielectric function are observed (Berreman-mode). The interpretation of the measured spectra is carried out by a fit procedure to simulate the observed spectra. As a result the specimens are characterized in terms of vibronic resonances and their oscillator strengths or concentration, thicknesses of various films in a stack of layers, profiles of depth depending chemical composition, or concentration and mobility of conduction electrons. All examples are relevant for application in technology, as microelectronics, thin film technology, catalysis, e.g. The results of the IR analysis are compared with those of other analytical methods as SIMS, RBS, and AES. The agreement is very good. One important advantage of the IR analysis, however, is the fact that it is a non-destructive method.  相似文献
