Mixtures of dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride (DODAC) cationic vesicle dispersions with aqueous micelle solutions of the anionic sodium cholate (NaC) were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, DSC, turbidity and light scattering. Within the concentration range investigated (constant 1.0 mM DODAC and varying NaC concentration up to 4 mM), vesicle → micelle → aggregate transitions were observed. The turbidity of DODAC/NaC/water depends on time and NaC/DODAB molar concentration ratio R. At equilibrium, turbidity initially decreases smoothly with R to a low value (owing to the vesicle–micelle transition) when R = 0.5–0.8 and then increases steeply to a high value (owing to the micelle–aggregate transition) when R = 0.9–1.0. DSC thermograms exhibit a single and sharp endothermic peak at Tm ≈ 49 °C, characteristic of the melting temperature of neat DODAC vesicles in water. Upon addition of NaC, Tm initially decreases to vanish around R = 0.5, and the main transition peak broadens as R increases. For R > 1.0 two new (endo- and exothermic) peaks appear at lower temperatures indicating the formation of large aggregates since the dispersion is turbid. All samples are non-birefringent. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) data indicate that both DODAC and DODAC/NaC dispersions are highly polydisperse, and that the mean size of the aggregates tends to decrease as R increases.  相似文献

Absorbance values between 300 and 800 nm of aqueous solutions of poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-itaconic acid-9.80), poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-itaconic acid-52.05) and poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide)s containing Tegomer H-Si 2111 end groups and/or blocks were measured using a Shimadzu 160-A UV-visible spectrometer. Turbidities obtained from these absorbance values were used to interpret the macromolecular phase transition from a hydrophilic to a hydrophobic structure of the polymers. The effects of comonomer type and content, concentration of the solutions, pH and temperature on the coil-globule transition were discussed in terms of turbidity form factor, β related to size and shapes of particles and calculated by using the simplified form of Debye equation.The results presented in this work show that the presence of Tegomer H-Si 2111 (Si containing end groups and/or blocks) or high amount of itaconic acid (IA) in the chains prevent a collapse transition from hydrated extended coils to hydrophobic globules, which aggregate and form a separate phase (β<2). Furthermore, it was observed that in the case of concentrated solutions intermolecular hydrophobic interactions between isopropyl groups overcame the repulsive forces resulting from the ionized carboxylic acid groups of IA or surface active nature of Si containing hydrophobic groups (β>2). This stage of the transition corresponds to macroscopic phase separation after an intramolecular process.  相似文献

Turbidity and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements have been carried out over an extended temperature range (10-60 °C) on thermoreversible gelling and non-gelling semidilute aqueous systems of ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC) in the presence of various amounts of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). EHEC dissolved in D2O exhibits a lower consolute solution temperature with an abrupt change of the turbidity upon heating the sample. The turbidity transformation is shifted toward higher temperatures (the cloud point temperature rises) and it becomes gradually gentler as the level of surfactant addition increases. Precision turbidity measurements demonstrate the existence of hysteresis effects when heating and cooling scans are conducted. This effect is reduced with SDS addition and disappears at a sufficiently high SDS concentration where most aggregates are disrupted. It is shown from temperature quench turbidity experiments that it takes a very long time for the temperature-induced complexes to disintegrate. The scattered intensity results from SANS at low values of the scattering vector (q) disclose that elevated temperature and low SDS concentration promote the formation of large-scale associations, and at higher levels of surfactant addition the tendency to form aggregates is suppressed. At high surfactant concentrations (8 and 16 mm), an interaction peak appears in the spectrum at intermediate values of q. For the EHEC sample with 8 mm SDS, the peak disappears at higher temperatures because of enhanced hydrophobicity of the polymer. The analysis of the SANS data for the gelling sample (EHEC with 4 mm SDS) reveals that the inhomogeneity of the gel becomes more pronounced in the post-gel region.  相似文献

The interactions between oppositely charged surfactant/polymer mixtures have been studied using conductivity and turbidity measurements. The dependence of aggregation phenomenon on the chain length and head group modifications of conventional cationic surfactants, i.e., hexadecyl- (HTAB), tetradecyl- (TTAB), and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromides (DTAB) and dimeric cationic surfactants, i.e., decyl- (DeDGB) and dodecyldimethylgemini bromides (DDGB), is investigated. It was observed that cationic surfactants induce cooperative binding with anionic polyelectrolytes at critical aggregation concentration (cac). The cac values are considerably lower than the critical micelle concentration (cmc) values for the same surfactant. After the complete complexation, free micelles are formed at the apparent critical micelle concentration (acmc), which is slightly higher in aqueous polyelectrolyte than in pure water. Among the conventional and dimeric cationic surfactants, DTAB and DeDGB, respectively, have been found to have least interactions with oppositely charged polyelectrolytes.  相似文献

研究了浊度对荧光光谱法测定水体中叶绿素a的影响。采用荧光分光光度计分别测定了不同浊度的叶绿素a提取液和铜绿微囊藻液的荧光强度,使用海水叶绿素现场检测仪测定了不同浊度的铜绿微囊藻液和实际水样的叶绿素a浓度值。结果表明:当水体浊度较大时,由于悬浮颗粒物的强烈散射作用会使叶绿素a的测定结果偏高。当水体透明度较高时,浊度对测定的影响基本可以忽略。  相似文献

Lightly crosslinked nitrated poly(4-hydroxystyrene) microspheres were prepared for pH sensing. The first step is to prepare poly(4-acetoxystyrene) microspheres using porous glass membrane emulsification followed by suspension polymerization. The resulting microspheres have diameters between 1 and 2 μm. They hydrolyzed to poly(4-hydroxystyrene) by exposing them to base. This is followed by nitration to nitric acid. The percentage of nitrogen depends on the nitration conditions. Percentages greater than the theoretical percentage for mononitro poly(4-hydroxystyrene) can be obtained at elevated temperatures indicating partial dinitration. These microspheres were cast into hydrogel membranes for use as pH sensors. The membrane is turbid because the refractive index of the microspheres is higher than the hydrogel refractive index. At high pH, deprotonation of the hydroxyl group introduces a negative charge onto the polymer backbone causing it to swell. Swelling is accompanied by a decrease in microsphere refractive index, which is detected as a decrease in membrane turbidity.  相似文献

Vitamin E is widely used in pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic preparations. This paper discusses methods of preparing a vitamin E emulsion by using sodium N-lauroylsarcosinate (SNLS) ionic surfactant. The amount of vitamin E dissolved in water was analyzed by turbidity and UV absorption measurements. The emulsion droplet size was determined by laser light scattering. Microemulsions with small particle size and high resistance to oxidation in air can be obtained by solubilizing vitamin E in SNLS solution. The dissolution is rapid and the surfactant solution has high solubilization power. At 0.7% surfactant concentration, the saturation value is 1 g vitamin E per gram of surfactant. The micellar dissociation concentration (MDC) of the surfactant can be estimated from a vitamin saturation—surfactant concentration curve. Dissolution mechanisms at different surfactant concentrations are interpreted by use of the MDC and CMC (critical micellar concentration) concepts.  相似文献

The current work designed to fabricate and evaluate self-nanoemulsfying oil formulations (SNEOFs) of Efavirenz (Efz) a BCS class II drug with the objective of increasing its solubility as well as in vitro dissolution rate for improvisation of bioavailability. Preliminary screening of drug which includes solubility, emulsifying ability and ternary phase diagrams was carried out to fabricate SNEOFs. Various thermodynamic stability studies were exercised to find out the stable SNEOFs. Robustness to dilution, % transmittance and turbidity, droplet size analysis, TEM study, cloud point measurement, viscosity and refractive index were executed on the stable SNEOFs to characterize the delivery system. FTIR study was adopted for the compatibility of the additives with the drug. In vitro release profiles of SNEOFs compared with Efz, percent dissolution efficiency (DE) and dissolution half-life (t50) were evaluated. A low percent DE (30.12%) and high t50 was obtained for Efz whereas all SNEOFs showed a DE of greater than 78.48% and less than 9?min t50. The optimized SNEOFs (F8) demonstrated a significant (p?<?0.05) increase in bioavailability over Efz. Thus the designed optimized delivery system could be instrumental in increasing aqueous solubility of Efz, improving its release performance and enhancement of oral absorption.  相似文献

The adsorption of fibronectin on gold, Ti-, and Ta-oxide surfaces is investigated by means of the quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) technique. The surface chemistry (gold, Ti-, and Ta-oxide) is found to influence the frequency shift observed during adsorption of the fibronectin layer with the magnitude being Delta f Au>Delta f Ti-oxide approximately Delta f Ta-oxide. Corresponding variations in the dissipation change normalised to frequency change (Delta D/Delta f) for the layer are observed. The QCM-D data are further analyzed by the random sequential adsorption (RSA) model, and adsorption rate parameter ka and footprint (a) determined, which supported the trend seen in the Delta f and Delta D/Delta f values. The value of ka found by the RSA modelling of the QCM-D resonance frequency data is found to match the ratio between the mass measured by QCM-D and the mass reported by optical techniques in literature. We conclude that comparison of the adsorption rate parameter (ka) obtained by RSA modelling of the QCM-D data with ka values obtained from RSA modelling of data obtained using optical techniques can be a route to determine the degree of hydration of the adsorbed protein layer.  相似文献

To determine the technical and economic feasibility of cross-flow microfiltration on an industrial scale, the expected decline of permeation flux must be predicted taking into account the variability of juice's fouling potential. However, the main difficulty is finding representative parameters. Two semi-empirical models – gel polarisation and mechanistic – were used to fit experimental permeation flows using initial juice turbidity as surrogate for the volumetric concentration of particles in the feed juice. The experimental data of different banana, pineapple, and blackberry juices fitted well in both models. Although the mechanistic model more accurately estimated the permeation flux density, for practical application, the simpler polarisation model was preferred. Because this method uses a factor (i.e. turbidity) that reflects juice's fouling potential, it allows the optimisation of processing parameters and the prediction of permeation flux range in real industrial conditions.  相似文献
