Synthesis of tumor-associated glycopeptide antigens for the development of tumor-selective vaccines

In contrast to normal cells, the glycoprotein profile on epithelial tumor cells is distinctly altered. Due to an incomplete formation of the glycan side-chains resulting from a premature sialylation, additional peptide epitopes become accessible to the immune system in mucin-type glycoproteins on tumor cells. These tumor-associated structure alterations constitute the basis for a selective immunological attack on cancer cells. For the construction of immunostimulating antigens, glycopeptide partial structures from the mucins MUC1 and MUC4 carrying the tumor-associated sialyl-T(N), alpha2,6-sialyl-T and alpha2,3-sialyl-T antigens have been synthesized. Employing different linkers such as the allylic HYCRON or the fluoride-sensitive PTMSEL anchor, the antigenic glycopeptide structures were constructed on the solid phase utilizing pre-assembled glycosyl amino acid building blocks prepared in solution by convergent chemical or chemoenzymatic strategies. The proliferation of cytotoxic T cells has been induced applying a construct composed of a sialyl-T(N) MUC1-glycopeptide conjugated with a tetanus toxin T cell peptide epitope.

针对嵌入式工业控制系统终端显示的需要,提出了一种基于微处理器R1610和LCD控制器SSD1963的液晶显示模块的设计方法。详细阐述了硬件接口电路的设计和控制软件的编程,重点介绍了R1610、SSD1963以及TFT液晶屏AT070TN83之间的硬件连接方法,分析了SSD1963液晶控制的使用方法以及针对液晶屏显示时序的系统设置。结合显示控制实例实现了图像在液晶屏上的显示,显示效果良好。该显示模块的设计具有一定的应用前景和参考价值。     

Application of thiophilic chromatography to deplete serum immunoglobulins in sample preparation for bidimensional electrophoresis

Serum is a typical sample for non-invasive studies in clinical research. Its proteome characterization is challenging, since requires extensive protein depletion. Methods used nowadays for removal of high-abundance proteins are expensive or show quite often a low loading capacity, which has strong repercussions on the number of samples and replicates per analysis.In order to deplete immunoglobulins (Igs) and albumin (HSA) from 1 mL serum samples, we have developed a protocol based on a combination of thiophilic chromatography, not previously used in clinical proteomics, and a HSA-specific resin. Ig/HSA-depleted samples, immunoglobulinome and albuminone were analyzed by 2-DE. Thiophilic chromatography, coupled with HSA-depletion, allows a good 2-DE resolution as well as the visualization of new spots. Moreover, it yields enough protein to evaluate technical variability and facilitate subsequent protein identification. To validate the protocol, we carried out a preliminary comparative study between triplicate Igs/HSA-depleted serum samples from healthy control individuals and recently diagnosed/untreated rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. RA patients showed several acute phase proteins, as well as additional serum proteins, differentially and significantly regulated.Therefore, thiophilic chromatography can be used as an efficient and economical method in 2-DE to deplete immunoglobulins from large human serum samples before a more extensive fractioning.     

Synthetic Antitumor Vaccines Containing MUC1 Glycopeptides with Two Immunodominant Domains-Induction of a Strong Immune Response against Breast Tumor Tissues

A shot in the arm for cancer treatment: Two MUC1 tetanus toxoid vaccines were synthesized and induced a strong immune response in mice. The antibodies elicited by the vaccines show a high selectivity for the tumor cells in mammary carcinoma tissues and also distinguish between tumor tissues at different stages.     

Ionic effects on electro-optics and residual direct current voltages of twisted nematic liquid crystal cells

By using electro-optical and dielectric absorption [1–4] measurements, we report our investigations of ionic effects on electro-optics and residual direct current voltages (VrDCs) of two polyimide (PI)-aligned twisted nematic (TN) cells with same liquid crystal mixture but different PI-alignment materials. We have also carried out new experimental methods to find out that the observed VrDCs were caused by LC-PI-interfacial trapped ions generated and transported from the LC medium for one TN cell, and from the PI layers for the other TN cell. Our measured VrDCs indicated that the former had two different exponential-decay rates similar to the published results by M. Mizusaki et al. [2] but the latter had only a single exponential-decay rate.

A general,enantioselective synthesis of 2-substituted thiomorpholines and thiomorpholine 1,1-dioxides

In the course of our drug discovery programs, we had need to access chiral, 2-substituted thiomorpholines and their oxidized congeners, thiomorpholine 1,1-dioxides. Here, we disclose a high-yielding, general protocol for the enantioselective synthesis of C2-functionalized thiomorpholines and thiomorpholine 1,1-dioxides.     

5.4 Properties and applications of cellulose triacetate film

The CTA film can be characterized by e.g. its relatively high moisture regain, significantly low birefringence, and moderate mechanical strength. Having been commercialized more than fifty years ago, it has been widely used as photographic film, protective film for polarizing plate, and optical compensation film for liquid crystal display (LCD). The photographic film application exploits the optical isotropy and unique physical properties of the CTA film. In the application of the CTA film to protective film for polarizing plate, its low in-plane birefringence is of particular importance. In the optical compensation to enhance the viewing angle of LCD, the CTA film, because of its moderate retardation in thickness direction (Rth), serves as an element of compensator as well as a base film. Considering the growth of the LCD market, the demand for CTA film is believed to be further expanding.     

TOC／TN仪快速测定环境水样中的总氮

采用TOC／TN法测定了环境水样中的总氮。结果表明：其线性范围为0-20mg/L时,具有良好的线性关系，精密度RSD小于2％，对方法的回收率作了试验，所得结果在85．3％—99．1％之间。
