Spectroscopic and biological studies on newly synthesized nickel(II) complexes of semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones

Nickel(II) complexes, having the general composition Ni(L)2X2, have been synthesized [where L: isopropyl methyl ketone semicarbazone (LLA), isopropyl methyl ketone thiosemicarbazone (LLB), 4-aminoacetophenone semicarbazone (LLC) and 4-aminoacetophenone thiosemicarbazone (LLD) and X=Cl-, 1/2SO(4)2-]. All the Ni(II) complexes reported here have been characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic moments, IR, electronic and mass spectral studies. All the complexes were found to have magnetic moments corresponding to two unpaired electrons. The possible geometries of the complexes were assigned on the basis of electronic and infrared spectral studies. Newly synthesized ligand and its nickel(II) complexes have been screened against different bacterial and fungal growth.     

Solid State Regeneration of Carbonyl Compounds from Oximes and Semicarbazones with Poly [N‐Bromo‐Benzene‐1,3‐Disulfonylamide]

Poly [N‐bromo‐benzene‐1,3‐disulfonylamide] [ PBBS ] is a novel and efficient reagent for the conversion of oximes and semicarbazones under solid state to their corresponding carbonyl compounds in high yields.     

Complexes of Tin(IV) Tetrachloride with 3-Formylpyridine Semicarbazone and Thiosemicarbazones

The reaction of tin(IV) tetrachloride with 3-formylpyridine semicarbazone and different 3-formylpyridine thiosemicarbazones produces [Sn(HL)CL 3 ][SnCl 5 ] where HL stands for the neutral ligand. The tin(IV) complexes were characterized using a variety of spectroscopic techniques. Coordination through the pyridine nitrogen occurs in all cases. Solvation studies in DMSO indicated that dissociation of the ligands and their complete replacement by solvent molecules occurs.     

Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes Containing Semicarbazone Ligands: Synthesis,Characterization, Photophysical and Biological Studies

The synthesis, crystal structure, photophysical properties, and biological activity of the novel bis‐cyclometalated complexes [Ir(ptpy)₂(vnsc)] ( 2 ) and [Ir(ptpy)₂(acsc)] ( 3 ) [ptpy = 2‐(p‐tolyl)pyridinato, vnsc = vanillin semicarbazone, acsc = acetone semicarbazone] are described. The new compounds were prepared by the reaction of [{Ir(μ‐Cl)(ptpy)₂}₂] ( 1 ) with the corresponding semicarbazone ligands under basic conditions. The molecular structure of compound 3 was confirmed by a single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction study. The complex crystallized from chloroform as a mono‐ solvate in the orthorhombic space group Pcab with eight molecules in the unit cell.     

Binuclear zinc(II) complexes with the anti-inflammatory compounds salicylaldehyde semicarbazone and salicylaldehyde-4-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H2LASSBio-1064)

Complexes [Zn₂(HL¹)₂(CH₃COO)₂] (1) and [Zn₂(L²)₂] (2) were synthesized with salicylaldehyde semicarbazone (H₂L¹) and salicylaldehyde-4-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H₂LASSBio-1064, H₂L²), respectively. The crystal structure of (1) was determined. Upon recrystallization of previously prepared [Zn₂(HL²)₂(Cl)₂] (3) in 1:9 DMSO:acetone crystals of [Zn₂(L²)₂(H₂O)₂]·[Zn₂(L²)₂(DMSO)₄] (3a) were obtained. The crystal structure of 3a was also determined. All crystal structures revealed the presence of phenoxo-bridged binuclear zinc(II) complexes.     

KBrO3/MoO3： An efficient reagent system for the oxidative deprotection of semicarbazones, 1,1-diacetates and acetals

Semicarbazones,1,1-diacetates and acetals are efficiently converted to their corresponding carbonyl compounds using synergistic effect between KBrO3 and MoO3 in refluxing CH3CN-H20 in good to high yields.

A novel series of 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-thiadiazoles as potential anticonvulsant agent

<正>In pursuit for better antiepileptic drug and the importance of semicarbazones and 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-thiadiazoles as anticonvulsant pharmacophore,a series of novel N-({5-[(6-methyl-1-benzofuran-3-y1)methyl]-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl}carbamothioyl) -2/3/4-substitutedbenzamide were designed,synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity.The findings of the present studies confirmed that the pharmacophore model with four binding sites is crucial for anticonvulsant activity. Structure-activity relationships among synthesized compounds were also established.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structures of Bis(1‐{(E)‐2‐pyridinylmethylidene}‐semicarbazone)iron(II) and ‐copper(II) Diperchlorate Monohydrates

The pyridine‐2‐carbaldehyde semicarbazone ligand (HL) reacts with iron(II) and copper(II) perchlorates in boiling ethanol to yield red‐violet [Fe^II(HL)₂](ClO₄)₂·H₂O ( 1 ) and light‐green crystals [Cu^II(HL)₂](ClO₄)₂·H₂O ( 2 ). The crystals are triclinic with the metal ions in an octahedral environment, coordinated to two nitrogen and one oxygen‐donor atom from HL. Electronic, magnetic and electrochemical properties are presented as well.
