We consider the eigenvalue problem for Hodge-Laplacian on a Riemannian manifold M isometrically immersed into another Riemannian manifold M¯. We first assume the pull back Weitzenböck operator of M¯ bounded from below, and obtain an extrinsic lower bound for the first eigenvalue of Hodge-Laplacian. As applications, we obtain some rigidity results. Second, when the pull back Weitzenböck operator of M¯ bounded from both sides, we give a lower bound of the first eigenvalue by the Ricci curvature of M and some extrinsic geometry. As a consequence, we prove a weak Ejiri type theorem, that is, if the Ricci curvature bounded from below pointwisely by a function of the norm square of the mean curvature vector, then M is a homology sphere. In the end, we give an example to show that all the eigenvalue estimates are optimal when M¯ is the space form.  相似文献

In (Comm. Math. Phys. 188 (1997) 121–133) Herzlich proved a new positive mass theorem for Riemannian 3-manifolds (N,g) whose mean curvature of the boundary allows some positivity. In this paper we study what happens to the limit case of the theorem when, at a point of the boundary, the smallest positive eigenvalue of the Dirac operator of the boundary is strictly larger than one-half of the mean curvature (in this case the mass m(g) must be strictly positive). We prove that the mass is bounded from below by a positive constant c(g), m(g)c(g), and the equality m(g)=c(g) holds only if, outside a compact set, (N,g) is conformally flat and the scalar curvature vanishes. The constant c(g) is uniquely determined by the metric g via a Dirac-harmonic spinor.  相似文献

This paper concerns analytic free maps. These maps are free analogs of classical analytic functions in several complex variables, and are defined in terms of non-commuting variables amongst which there are no relations - they are free variables. Analytic free maps include vector-valued polynomials in free (non-commuting) variables and form a canonical class of mappings from one non-commutative domain D in say g variables to another non-commutative domain in variables. As a natural extension of the usual notion, an analytic free map is proper if it maps the boundary of D into the boundary of . Assuming that both domains contain 0, we show that if is a proper analytic free map, and f(0)=0, then f is one-to-one. Moreover, if also , then f is invertible and f−1 is also an analytic free map. These conclusions on the map f are the strongest possible without additional assumptions on the domains D and .  相似文献

In order to motivate an analogy between the rigidity theory and combinatorial optimization, we have used the cavity method to study the floppy to rigid transition in a 2-dimensional (2D) random graph as well as in a 3D small world chain. Our analytic results are in excellent agreement with numerical studies using the pebble game algorithm. Let H ∈ C 2(? N×n ), H ≥ 0. The PDE system arises as the Euler-Lagrange PDE of vectorial variational problems for the functional E (u, Ω) = ‖H(Du)‖ L (Ω) defined on maps u: Ω ? ? n  → ? N . (1) first appeared in the author's recent work. The scalar case though has a long history initiated by Aronsson. Herein we study the solutions of (1) with emphasis on the case of n = 2 ≤ N with H the Euclidean norm on ? N×n , which we call the “∞-Laplacian”. By establishing a rigidity theorem for rank-one maps of independent interest, we analyse a phenomenon of separation of the solutions to phases with qualitatively different behaviour. As a corollary, we extend to N ≥ 2 the Aronsson-Evans-Yu theorem regarding non existence of zeros of |Du| and prove a maximum principle. We further characterise all H for which (1) is elliptic and also study the initial value problem for the ODE system arising for n = 1 but with H(·, u, u′) depending on all the arguments.  相似文献

We find explicit formulas for the radii and locations of the circles in all the optimally dense packings of two, three or four equal circles on any flat torus, defined to be the quotient of the Euclidean plane by the lattice generated by two independent vectors.
