Comparative studies using various analytical and spectroscopic techniques have been carried out on three samples of lignin: two samples of natural lignin that have been extracted using different processes, and one sample of synthetic lignin. This paper discusses the general features common to all three kinds of lignin, as well as the differences between, on one hand, the two natural lignins coming from different extraction processes, and, on the other hand, the natural lignins and the synthetic one. The advantages of each technique in explaining the structure of these three different lignins are emphasised. 相似文献

This study presents a novel approach for the chemical representation of lignin for modelling the reaction kinetics of lignin in lignocellulosic biomass. This methodology relies on the definition of dimeric pseudo-components containing phenolic functionalities, i.e., p-hydroxyphenyl, guaiacyl and syringyl groups, as measured in real biomass and native lignin through wet chemistry and spectroscopic techniques. The reactivities of the lignin pseudo-components are modelled through a series of lumped unidirectional reactions, whose product formation and reaction rate constants are optimised to replicate a comprehensive experimental dataset gathered from several works available in the literature. The new kinetic model contributes to the state-of-the-art by providing a more accurate depiction of the conversion rates, selectivity of char vs. volatiles, and aromatic composition in condensable products in line with the inherent reactivity of lignin functionalities and the empirical observations of lignin depolymerisation and thermal degradation at low (<1?K/s) and high heating rates (>50?K/s). 相似文献

New materials were obtained by incorporating in polypropylene (PP) matrix 60% wood wastes resulting after extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide, water, and ethanol. Structural, mechanical, thermal, and rheological characterizations, as well as moisture uptake of the composites, were evaluated before and after accelerated weathering. It was found that the extraction method influenced the composite properties due to the hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance. The addition of extracted fibers results in an increase in hardness and tensile properties and a decrease of impact strength as compared to PP. 相似文献

Mild and effective pretreatments are essential to deconstruct lignocellulosic biomass so as to reuse cellulose content for value-added products. In this study, sequential multimode-ultrasound and microwave with natural ternary deep eutectic solvent (NATDES) pretreatments were used to deconstruct corn straw and optimized factors such as NATDES, ultrasonic, and microwave parameters. Results indicated that the ultrasound-NATDES or microwave-NATDES pretreatment could remove 37.86% and 52.36% lignin, respectively. When using sequential multimode-ultrasound and microwave assisted NATDES pretreatment, the delignification efficiency increased to 61.50%, and the cellulose content increased from 34.70% to 76.08%. In addition, the delignification of sequential multimode-ultrasound and microwave assisted NATDES pretreatment (under the mild conditions of microwave heating at 60 °C and 60 min) increased to 57.39%, and the cellulose content increased to 59.98%, too. This highlighted the effect of the combined ultrasound and microwave technology. Finally, the microstructural changes of mercury intrusion porosimeters, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform mid-infrared spectroscopy were conducted to confirm the effectiveness of this method to deconstruct corn straw. A mechanism of the deconstruction of corn straw biomass in NATDES with the assistance of the sequential multimode-ultrasound and microwave heating was proposed. This research could open a window for future use of biomass energy by deconstructing lignocellulosic biomasses using environmentally friendly pretreatment methods. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to measure the thermal properties of foamed nano/macro filler–reinforced styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) composites. SMA (66%) as a polymer matrix (10% maleic anhydride content) and various fillers including wood flour, starch, α-cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose nanofibrils as reinforcing agents (30%) and lubricant (4%) were used to manufacture the composites in a twin-screw extruder. According to the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results, thermal degradation of all the foamed composites was found to be lower than that of SMA composites. The storage modulus values were negatively affected with a second time foaming (reprocessing [recycling] the initially processed composites a second time), as were loss modulus and Tg. As a result, second-time-foamed composite modulus values were lower than those of the foamed composites. According to the melt flow index (MFI) results, viscosity of the SMA was found to increase with the addition of fillers. 相似文献

The objective of this work was to investigate the ability of supercritical (SC) ethanol conditions to attack preferentially the lignin fraction against the carbohydrate fraction and their effects on the product distribution among gases, light products, bio-oils, and chars. In this study, the conversion of each pinewood component was determined by the analysis of solid residues to quantify cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and char contents. It is shown that, by tuning the temperature, hemicellulose and lignin are already transformed in subcritical ethanol conditions, lignin being more reactive than hemicellulose. In contrast, native wood cellulose is recalcitrant to liquefaction in SC ethanol near the critical point (Tc = 241 °C and Pc = 61 bar), but 20% of native wood cellulose is converted in SC ethanol at 280 °C. Besides, the severity of the conditions, in terms of temperature and treatment time, does not significantly influence the yields of gases, light products, and bio-oils but strongly enhances char formation. Interestingly, the increase in SC ethanol density does not change the conversion of biomass components but has a marked effect on bio-oil yield and prevents char formation. The optimum fractionation conditions to convert the lignin component, while keeping unattacked the cellulose fraction with a minimum formation of char, are dense SC ethanol, at 250 °C for 1 h, in batch conditions. However, although lignin is more reactive than hemicellulose under these conditions, these fractions are converted, in a parallel way, to around 50% and 60%, respectively. 相似文献

Corncob is an economic feedstock and more than 20 million tons of corncobs are produced annually in China. Abundant xylose
can be potentially converted from the large amount of hemicellulosic materials in corncobs, which makes the crop residue an
attractive alternative substrate for a value-added production of a variety of bioproducts. Lactic acid can be used as a precursor
for poly-lactic acid production. Although current industrial lactic acid is produced by lactic acid bacteria using enriched
medium, production by Rhizopus oryzae is preferred due to its exclusive formation of the l-isomer and a simple nutrition requirement by the fungus. Production of l-(+)-lactic acid by R. oryzae using xylose has been reported; however, its yield and conversion rate are poor compared with that of using glucose. In this
study, we report an adapted R. oryzae strain HZS6 that significantly improved efficiency of substrate utilization and enhanced production of l-(+)-lactic acid from corncob hydrolysate. It increased l-(+)-lactic acid final concentration, yield, and volumetric productivity more than twofold compared with its parental strain.
The optimized growth and fermentation conditions for Strain HZS6 were defined. 相似文献

Biocomposites based on poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and curaua fibers have been produced by compression molding, and investigated as a function of fiber length and amount. Mechanical tests, water uptake and morphology studies were carried out in order to assess the composite features according to the characteristics of the reinforcing agents. It turns out that the impact and flexural strengths increase with fiber content. Moreover, the fiber length, varying from 1 to 4 cm for the composite reinforced with 20 wt% of fiber, influences impact strength, which is higher for shorter than for longer fibers. However, flexural strength is not greatly influenced by the length of the fibers. Water uptake studies reveal a higher sensitivity of the material to fiber content rather than fiber size. Biocomposites, which are characterized by enhanced mechanical properties as compared to PBS, can have different applications, for example in rigid packaging or interior car parts. 相似文献

The combined effects of inhibitors present in lignocellulosic hydrolysates was studied using a multivariate statistical approach.
Acetic acid (0–6 g/L), formic acid (0–4.6 g/L) and hydroquinone (0–3 g/L) were tested as model inhibitors in synthetic media
containing a mixture of glucose, xylose, and arabinose simulating concentrated hemicellulosic hydrolysates. Inhibitors were
consumed sequentially (acetic acid, formic acid, and hydroquinone), alongside to the monosaccharides (glucose, xylose, and
arabinose). Xylitol was always the main metabolic product. Additionally, glycerol, ethanol, and arabitol were also obtained.
The inhibitory action of acetic acid on growth, on glucose consumption and on all product formation rates was found to be
significant (p≤0.05), as well as formic acid inhibition on xylose consumption and biomass production. Hydroquinone negatively affected biomass
productivity and yield, but it significantly increased xylose consumption and xylitol productivity. Hydroquinone interactions,
either with acetic or formic acid or with both, are also statistically signficant. Hydroquinone seems to partially lessen
the acetic acid and amplify formic acid effects. The results clearly indicate that the interaction effects play an important
role on the xylitol bioprocess. 相似文献

A Comparison Between Lime and Alkaline Hydrogen Peroxide Pretreatments of Sugarcane Bagasse for Ethanol Production 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Pretreatment procedures of sugarcane bagasse with lime (calcium hydroxide) or alkaline hydrogen peroxide were evaluated and
compared. Analyses were performed using 23 factorial designs, with pretreatment time, temperature, and lime loading and hydrogen peroxide concentration as factors.
The responses evaluated were the yield of total reducing sugars (TRS) and glucose released from pretreated bagasse after enzymatic
hydrolysis. Experiments were performed using the bagasse, as it comes from an alcohol/sugar factory and bagasse, in the size,
range from 0.248 to 1.397 mm (12–60 mesh). The results show that, when hexoses and pentoses are of interest, lime should be
the pretreatment agent chosen, as high TRS yields are obtained for non-screened bagasse using 0.40 g lime/g dry biomass at
70 °C for 36 h. When the product of interest is glucose, the best results were obtained with lime pretreatment of screened
bagasse. However, the results for alkaline peroxide and lime pretreatments of non-screened bagasse are not very different. 相似文献
