Using multi-exposure of color fringes to measure the beating motion of a moth

A multi-exposure of color fringes method has been developed to improve the capture speed of a conventional color CCD camera. In the method, four groups of projected fringe patterns encoded with different colors and different directions are stored in one CCD frame. Therefore the capture frequency of the conventional CCD can be improved to 200 Hz. It is available to measure the insect wings with low beating frequency, such as dragonfly, moth, or butterfly, whose beating frequency is about 30–40 Hz. We have used the method to measure the beating motion of a moth successfully.

The synthesis of (14S)-methyloctadec-1-ene, sex pheromone of the peach leafminer moth (Lyonetia clerkella), is described to demonstrate a new potential of the synthetic use of (R)-4-menthenone.

从唇形科植物铁轴草中分离得去甲克罗烷二萜化合物Ｔｅｕｃｖｉｄｉｎ，通过催化氢化、酯交换、水解等反应合成了８个衍生物，用＾１ＨＮＭＲ、ＭＳ和ＩＲ确定了其结构，初步生物活性测定结果表明，化合物Ⅱ和Ⅳａ的拒食作用显著。     

L-(-)-Menthol in the Synthesis of Key Synthons for Optically Active Methyl-Branched Insect Pheromones

Determination of the Insect Repellent Bayrepel® in Pool and Lake Water by Gas Chromatography after Preconcentration with Solid-Phase Extraction and Stir-Bar-Sorptive Extraction

A method for the determination of the new insect repellent Bayrepel in bathing lakes and public pools is presented. Sample preconcentration is performed either by solid-phase extraction (SPE) or stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE). Analysis of the enriched analyte using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) led to almost identical limits of detection (LOD) of 25ngL^–1 for Bayrepel with both extraction methods. Because of the slightly reduced handling effort involved, the method based on preconcentration by SBSE was finally chosen for the analysis of real samples.

Synthesis of (R)‐Japonilure and (4R,9Z)‐9‐Octadecen‐4‐olide,Pheromones of the Japanese Beetle and Currant Stem Girdler

Asymmetric total synthesis of the sex pheromones of Japanese beetle and currant stem girdler, (R)‐japonilure (1) and (4R,9Z)‐9‐octadecen‐4‐olide (2), has been achieved.
