Natural rubber latex(NRL)and methyl methacrylate(MMA)grafted rubber latex were blended in different ratios and irradiated at various absorbed doses by gamma rays from Co-60 source at room temperature.The tensile properties, swelling ratio and permanent set were measured.The maximum tensile strength and modulus at 500% elongation were obtained at an absorbed dose of 8 kGy.Modulus increases from 6.99 MPa to 9.87 MPa for an increase in proportion of MMA grafted rubber from 40% to 60% in the blend at similar absorbed dose.Elongation at break and swelling ratio decrease with increasing absorbed dose as well as the MMA grafted rubber content in the blends.The decreasing trend of permanent set is high up to 5 kGy absorbed dose,and beyond that dose,it becomes almost flat.  相似文献

In this paper, dielectric properties of various thick PVP films cured at temperatures between 125° C and 200 °C are investigated. The thicknesses of PVP films are adjusted by varying their concentration in PGMEA solvent from 10 wt% to 2.5 wt%. Through FT-IR, CV, SEM, and AFM analyses, the optimum curing process temperatures (150 °C for 10 wt% and 7.5 wt% samples, and 175 °C for 5 wt% samples) where PET substrates can be thermally endured are proposed in terms of their low hysteresis voltage in the CV curve (1–2 V in 10 wt% samples, below 1 V in 7.5 wt% samples, and 0.5 V in 5 wt% samples).  相似文献

Implementation of a low-field time-domain nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) scanner as a diagnostic tool in the production of new polymer components is described in the context of qualification of a new QA/QC device. A study to determine the optimal experimental parameters was performed and a robotic autosampler was built to enable scanning of multiple pads. Relationships between T2 values and physical properties of DC745 slabs were investigated, and the appropriate sampling parameters for the production setting were determined. Two versions of a robotic autosampler were built and, for the component described here, a fourth radial axis was required in addition to traditional X, Y, and Z movement to eliminate the large variability in T2 due to inconsistent sample coverage caused by the complex rib geometry of the component. Data show that with appropriate choice of experimental conditions of the NMR detector and the detection geometry of the robotic autosampler, sufficient resolution of variations in cross-link density on the millimeter scale could be determined. All data to date demonstrate that low-field NMR devices are a feasible tool for use in production settings for non-destructive quality control of polymer components.  相似文献

A series of highly cross-linked polysiloxane was synthesised via hydrosilylation and condensation reaction. Structural identification using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and 1H-NMR confirmed their chemical structures. Their thermal and, mechanical properties, and crystallinity, were analysed and related to the level of cross-link density. These systems displayed elevated thermal and hardness properties at an increased cross-link density. Furthermore, the level of crystallinity was reduced as displayed by XRD analysis. Along with this observation, the calculated fractional free volume (FFV) showed a decreasing trend leading to the ‘densification’ effect. It was envisaged that the linear polysiloxane chain segments aligned parallel to each other in a triclinic crystal system to generate a crystalline domain. The spacing between these stacking chains was found to be about 7.2 Å as measured from simulated XRD pattern.  相似文献

According to the KEMI report, products with polycyclic aromatic compounds, PCA, levels exceeding 3% by weight must be labelled. The report pointed out that worn tyre tread material was being spread on the roadsides, introducing high amounts of PCA into the environment. PCA is having toxic effects on aquatic organisms. Polyaromatic-hydrocarbon-rich extender oils are to be banned by December 2009, which gives rise to challenges for the oil and rubber industries. In the present work, 10 types of naturally occurring oils and six types of petroleum-based oils were characterised in natural-rubber-based truck tyre tread cap compound. Compounds made with some of the naturally occurring oils showed better mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties.  相似文献

Desulphurization mechanism of polyethylene glycol (PEG) membranes has been investigated by the study of solubility and diffusion behavior of typical gasoline components through PEG membranes with various crosslinking degrees. The sorption, diffusion and permeation coefficients were calculated by the systematic studies of dynamic sorption curves of gasoline components such as thiophene, n-heptane, cyclohexane, cyclohexene and toluene in PEG membranes. Furthermore, the temperature dependence of diffusion and solubility coefficients and the influence of crosslinking degree on sorption and diffusion behaviors were conducted to elucidate the mass-transfer mechanism. According to the discussions on dynamic sorption curves, transport mode, activation energy and thermodynamic parameters, thiophene species were the preferential permeation components. Crosslinking is an effective modification way to improve the overall performance of PEG membranes applied in gasoline desulphurization. The pervaporation (PV) and gas chromatography (GC) experiments results corresponded to the conclusions. All these investigations will provide helpful suggestions for the newly emerged membrane desulphurization technology and complex organic mixture separation by pervaporation.  相似文献

Nanocomposites based on thermoset polycarbonate and fumed silica nanoparticles were prepared by radical in situ polymerization. To avoid nanoparticle agglomeration, silica nanoparticles modified with a vinyl end capped silane agent were also used. The effect of silica particles and silica surface modification on the extent of polymerization and network density was evaluated. Silica nanoparticles reduced the amount of soluble oligomeric species forming during the diallyl carbonate polymerization and this was particularly pronounced in the case of modified silica. Nevertheless, the participation of surface modifier reactive groups to polymerization also caused a lower polycarbonate network density. SEM analysis showed that the proposed interfacial strategy was effective to control nanoparticle dispersion; no agglomeration phenomena were observed using modified silica. Nanocomposites preserved the polycarbonate stiffness while a toughness increase was recorded with the addition of neat silica. Particularly interesting was the effect of nanoparticles on the improvement of the abrasion resistance of the polycarbonate thus overcoming one of the drawback of this material.  相似文献

Poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) was cross-linked with various types of peroxides under constant mole ratios of peroxide-derived radicals to PLLA during reactive extrusion. Peroxides were classified into three groups according to their decomposition rates (Group I: fast, Group II: moderate and Group III: slow) and comparisons were performed within each group. Cross-linking behavior was readily understood in terms of free radical efficiency and hydrogen abstraction ability of radicals. In the case of Groups II and III, the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of cross-linked PLLA increased with overall hydrogen abstraction ability, because slow decomposition caused uniform cross-linking in molten PLLA. In Group I, Mw and gel fraction were higher than other groups despite Group I's lower hydrogen abstraction ability, leading to the conclusion that peroxide decomposition localized in solid PLLA caused partial cross-linking because of rapid decomposition. Furthermore, the efficiency of peroxide-induced cross-linking was investigated using the Charlesby-Pinner equation.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the stress–strain behavior of natural rubber reinforced with short pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) can easily be manipulated by changing the cross-link density and the amount of carbon black (CB) primary filler. This gives more manageable control of mechanical properties than is possible with conventional particulate fillers alone. This type of hybrid rubber composite displays a very sharp rise in stress at very low strains, and then the stress levels off at medium strains before turning up again at the highest strains. The composites studied here contain a fixed amount of PALF at 10 part (by weight) per hundred rubber (phr) and varying carbon black contents from 0 to 30 phr. To change the cross-link density, the amount of sulfur was varied from 2 to 4 phr. Swelling ratio results indicate that composites prepared with greater amounts of sulfur and carbon black have greater cross-link densities. Consequently, this affects the stress–strain behavior of the composites. The greater the cross-link density, the less is the strain at which the stress upturn occurs. Variations in the rate of stress increase (although not the stress itself) in the very low strain region, while dependent on fillers, are not dependent on the crosslink density. The effect of changes in crosslinking is most obvious in the high strain region. Here, the rate of stress increase becomes larger with increasing cross-link density. Hence, we demonstrate that the use of PALF filler, along with the usual carbon primary filler, provides a convenient method for the manipulation of the stress–strain relationships of the reinforced rubber. Such composites can be prepared with a controllable, wide range of mechanical behavior for specific high performance engineering applications.  相似文献
