Reaction of chiral allylic cyclic carbonates with Grignards reagent in the presence of NiCl₂(dppe) as a catalyst afforded the alkylated (E)-allylic alcohols with high regio- and diastereoselectivity.     

Silica Supported Ferric Nitrate Nonahydrate: Selective Oxidation of Benzoins Under Mild Conditions

Abstract

Benzils are selectively obtained in high yields by the oxidation of benzoins under mild reaction conditions using silica supported ferric nitrate nonahydrate.     

DMSO-PdI2 as a powerful oxidizing couple of alkynes into benzils: one-pot synthesis of nitrogen-containing five- or six-membered heterocycles

PdI₂ in DMSO promoted the oxidation of functionalized diarylalkynes into benzil derivatives in excellent yields. This new oxidation reaction was achieved with short reaction times and low loading of palladium catalyst. This efficient catalytic process has been applied successfully to the one-pot construction of a series of nitrogen-containing heterocycles of biological interest according to a tandem oxidation-nitrogen nucleophiles condensation-cyclization.     

Novel One-Pot Procedure for the Synthesis of 1,2-Diketones

A simple and convenient one-pot procedure is reported for the synthesis of 1,2-diketones from corresponding benzoin-type condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes in water with N,N-dialkylbenzimidazolium salt as condensation catalyst and ferric chloride as oxidizing reagent.     

An efficient palladium-catalyzed synthesis of benzils from aryl bromides: vinylene carbonate as a synthetic equivalent of glyoxal

An expedient synthetic procedure of benzil derivatives from aryl bromides was developed using vinylene carbonate as a glyoxal equivalent in a palladium-catalyzed reaction. The reaction involved a sequential diarylation of vinylene carbonate to form 4,5-diaryl-1,3-dioxol-2-one, ring-opening to benzoin derivative, and an oxidation process.

报道了盐酸三甲胺三氧化锆／硅胶载体试剂的制备方法及其对苯偶姻的氧化反应。该试剂制备简单，用于地苯偶姻的氧化，高收率地得到相应的苯偶酰在化合物，并且反应条件温和，产物易分离。     

Microwave-assisted efficient synthesis of 1,2-diaryldiketones: a novel oxidation reaction of diarylalkynes with DMSO promoted by FeBr3

This paper reports the oxidation of functionalized diarylalkynes with DMSO in the presence of the environmentally friendly FeBr₃ catalyst. This non-toxic procedure is general and has been applied successfully under microwave irradiation leading rapidly to benzil derivatives in good yields.     

Solvent-free reaction between acenaphthoquinone, various benzils and ammonium acetate: synthesis of 9,10-diaryl-7H-benzo[d,e]imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-7-ones

A simple synthesis of benzo[d,e]imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolines is described. Heating a mixture of acenaphthoquinone, a benzil, and ammonium acetate under solvent-free conditions afforded 9,10-diaryl-7H-benzo[d,e]imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-7-ones in good to excellent yields.
