Processing of Carapa guianensis seeds to obtain oil on an industrial scale generates a significant amount of by-product, approximately 66% w/w, which is called cake and is a potential source of biomolecules, including simple phenolic structures. For this reason, studies were carried out on the chemical profiles of hydrolyzed extract from this agro-industrial by-product through High Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS). These techniques were used to detect metabolic classes and/or groups, and to identify, for the first time, thirteen simple phenolic acids in this by-product. The sample antioxidant capacity was determined by methods of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS+) radicals direct sequestration. The hydrolyzed fraction showed a total of 63.47% in the relative abundance of the total of compounds, standing out: p-hydroxybenzoic acid (39.19%) and protocatechuic acid (3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid) (5.62%), both from hydroxybenzoic acids and 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)lactic acid, (7.76%) hydroxycinnamic acids derivatives. In these results, the fraction rich in simple phenolic acids was obtained, attributing the prominent behavior of this matrix antioxidant activity, expressed by (IC50: of 16.42 µg/mL and 6.52 µg/mL for DPPH and ABTS+ radicals, respectively). The research demonstrated an alternative to applicability that involves sustainability from agro-industrial. These techniques were used to detect metabolic classes and/or groups, and to identify, for the first time, thirteen simple phenolic acids in this by-product, generating a process capable of converting biomass into a bioproduct, consisting of bioactive compounds, in addition to adding value to the industrial chain. 相似文献

In this study, vanadium nanoparticles (VNPs) were green synthesized using Foeniculum vulgare extract. VNPs were characterized using chemical analysis techniques including FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and EDS. The microscopy techniques revealed a spherical morphology for the particles with size less than 50 nm. According to XRD data V2O5 was confirmed for VNPs. Maybe significant anti-human acute leukemia potentials of the synthesized nanoparticles against common human acute leukemia cell lines are linked to their antioxidant activities. MTT assay was used on common acute leukemia cell lines i.e., 32D-FLT3-ITD, MOLT-3 and Jurkat, Clone E6-1 to survey the cytotoxicity and anti-acute leukemia effects of the synthesized nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles had very low cell viability and high anti-acute leukemia activities dose-dependently against 32D-FLT3-ITD, MOLT-3 and Jurkat, Clone E6-1 cell lines without cytotoxicity on the normal cell line (HUVEC). To determine the antioxidant properties of the synthesized nanoparticles, the DPPH test was used in the presence of butylated hydroxytoluene as the positive control. The IC50 of VNPs were 25, 33 and 26 µg/mL against 32D-FLT3-ITD, MOLT-3 and Jurkat, Clone E6-1 cell lines, respectively. The present study was designed to evaluate the contents of different antioxidants compounds and their antioxidant activities in Jalopeno peppers (Capsicum annuum) cultivars (El Dorido, Grande, Tula, Sayula and El Rey) extracts. Free radical scavenging activity of Grande was recorded as high as 87% followed by El Dorido (83%). Results of reducing power (Fe3+ to Fe2+) showed that Grande (0.85%) and El Dorido (0.81%) fruit extract absorbance value were close to synthetic antioxidant BHT (0. 97%) obtained at100 μg/mL. The results showed that total phenolic content of El Dorido and Grande were significantly higher compared to other Jalapeno pepper. Results indicated strong and positive correlation between antioxidant activity and carotenoids content (r = 0.75), vitamin C (r = 0.78) and total capsaicinoids (r = 0.84), respectively. The results of the antioxidant activity assays showed that the El Dorido and Grande had strongest antioxidant activity compared to other peppers cultivars in this study. 相似文献

Flavonoids are naturally occurring phenol derivatives present in substantial amounts in a large variety of plants, fruits and vegetables daily eaten by humans. Most of these compounds exhibit several interesting biological activities, such as antiradical and antioxidant actions. Indeed, by complexation with specific enzymes, flavonoids are notably liable to metabolize molecular dioxygen. On the basis of experimental results describing oxygenolysis of the flavonoid quercetin, activated by the enzyme quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase (2,3-QD),ur attention has focused on the role of metal center in the activation of the substrate quercetin. Thus, in the present study, by means of DFT calculations at the B3LYP/ 6-31(+)G* level on model molecular systems, we describe different mechanisms for dioxygen metabolization by quercetin. Stationary points are described, and energetic and structural analyses along the reaction paths are reported. Our calculations show that the copper cation must act as an oxidant towards the substrate and that the reaction proceeds through a 1,3-cycloaddition. 相似文献

Chromatographic purification of the alcoholic extract from the aerial parts of the Saudi plant Nuxia oppositifolia (Hochst.), Benth., resulted in five isolated phenolic compounds. Two flavones, hispidulin (1) and jaceosidin (2), and the phenylethanoid glycosides, verbascoside (3), isoverbascoside (4), and conandroside (5), were identified and their chemical structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses. The insecticidal activity of compounds 1 and 2, in addition to 11 compounds isolated in a previous research (6–16), was evaluated against the Yellow Fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti. Four compounds displayed adulticidal activity with LD50 values of 2–2.3 μg/mosquito. Free radical scavenging properties of the plant extracts and compounds (1–5) were evaluated by measuring the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate radical cation (ABTS•+) scavenging activity. All compounds exhibited notable activity, compared with the positive control, l-Ascorbic acid. This study suggests that N. oppositifolia could be a promising source of secondary metabolites, some with lethal adulticidal effect against Ae. aegypti. 相似文献

An automatic system that performs two analytical procedures, allowing the evaluation of the relative antioxidant capacity of wine samples, was developed. Automation was carried out using a sequential injection analysis (SIA) system that allowed, thanks to its versatility, the development of two methodologies. One is based on the decolorization assay of the 2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical, using a spectrophotometric detector. A second methodology allowed the evaluation of the hydrogen peroxide scavenging activity by measuring the oxidation of homovanylic acid (HVA) to its fluorescent dimer, using a fluorescent detector.The developed automatic methodologies were evaluated using trolox as standard and subsequently using other antioxidant substances as gallic acid, caffeic acid, ascorbic acid, catechin and taxifolin which are abundant in wine and whose antioxidant activities were compared to that shown by trolox. The spectrophotometric and fluorimetric assays showed linearity intervals between 0.001 and 0.01 mM, and 0.001 and 0.008 mM of trolox, respectively.The evaluation of the antioxidant power of 20 white and red wine samples, from different Portuguese wine producing regions, was carried out sequentially, in the automatic system. The results were expressed in trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) and presented, for the ABTS and hydrogen peroxide scavenging activity methodologies, detection limits of 8.4 × 10−7 and 1.4 × 10−4 mM and relative standard deviation (R.S.D. Summary The general objective is to provide an alternative methodology based on capillary electrophoresis (CE) to characterize flavonoids from honey and hence determine its botanical origin. The specific objective is to compare the separation of flavonoids by CE with those achieved by HPLC to assess CE as an alternative technique for the determination of honey flavonoids. Fourteen different flavonoids isolated from honey were analysed by MECC and compared to the HPLC separations. It was difficult to find specific experimental conditions to separate all the flavonoids from honey in a single MEKC run. Three chromatographic conditions are optimized and, depending on the flavonoid markers sought in honey, the appropriate detection method should be chosen. Compared to the HPLC results, it is clear that CE could be an alternative technique in honey flavonoids analysis and particularly in the study of its geographical and floral origin. 相似文献

An electron transfer reaction between ascorbic acid (H2A) in an aqueous solution and oxidizing agent in an organic solution immiscible with water has been studied by thin‐layer cyclic voltammetry (TLCV) for charge transfer at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES). As an antioxidant, H2A provide electrons through the aqueous/organic interface to reduce Fc+ and the procedure has been proved to be a one electron process again. In this work, the first combination of TLCV and scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) was achieved and showed a reasonable agreement between the results from the two different approaches.
