Alhagi camelorum (AC) is an old plant with a significant therapeutic value throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The overuse of cisplatin (Cis > 50 mg/m2) is associated with observed nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, gastrotoxicity, myelosuppression, and allergic reactions. Remedial measures are needed for the protection of nephrotoxicity against cisplatin. Thus, we investigated the nephroprotective effects of AC plant extract to prevent cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in albino Wistar rats. The presence of polyphenols, phenolic compounds, tannins, and saponins was revealed during phytochemical investigation, and a significantly intense antioxidant activity was recorded. There were no toxicological symptoms in the treated rats, and no anatomical, physiological, or histological abnormalities were found compared to the control rats. The results of correcting cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity revealed that the extract has a significant ability to treat kidney damage, with most parameters returning to normal after only three weeks of therapy. It is concluded that co-administration of cisplatin with AC extract showed exceptional nephroprotective effects at a dose of 600 mg/kg for Cis-induced nephrotoxicity. 相似文献

The ethanolic extract (EE) of Ahagi maurorum powdered roots was examined for its pharmacological activity and showed the following results: (1) Administration of EE intraperitoneally into mice decreased the body temperature in a dose-dependent manner. The decreases ranged from 0.2 to 3.3 °C. (2) Treatment of the frog tissue with EE blocked the action of the neurotransmitter, acetyl choline (Ach). Thus, EE seemed to act as a skeletal muscle relaxant. (3) Intraperitoneal administration of EE into the anaesthetized rats decreased heart rate by 22.5%, thus, EE seemed to be a bradycardiogenic drug. (4) The extract induced relaxations to the guinea-pig ureter and suppressed histamine-induced spasms. It seemed to possess a spasmolytic action and a ureter relaxing action that can enhance getting rid of renal stones and relieve of the accompanying pain (contraction of the ureter). (5) The extract did not possess the property of enhancing dissolution of oxalate calculi. 相似文献

A new ursene‐type triterpene, (3β)‐30‐norurs‐11‐en‐3‐ol ( 1 ), was isolated from the MeOH extract of the roots of Alhagi camelorum. Its structure was elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic investigations by 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR studies. In addition, 1 was evaluated for antifungal activities. Its application on prepared cultures of two fungi, i.e., Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, showed noticeable antifungal activity, suggesting that 1 could be used as a new promising agent in antifungal drug formulations. 相似文献
