Suboptimal parallel schemes for the acquisition of spreading sequences in chip-asynchronous spread-spectrum systems are considered. These acquisition schemes estimate the unknown delay of the received signal with respect to a locally generated spreading code. Two schemes are presented which are considerably easier to implement than the optimal estimator. An analytical expression is given for the error probability of the simpler of the two schemes, and it is shown that the average error probability of this scheme decreases exponentially with the signal-to-noise ratio. An overview of membrane introduction mass spectrometry (MIMS) is presented and comparisons are made with other direct sample introduction techniques. Special attention is given to the unique advantages and the limitations of newer variants on the MIMS technique, including affinity MIMS, reverse-phase and trap MIMS. The salient features of the interfaces used in MIMS are summarized and the various membrane materials commonly used are delineated. The applicability of MIMS is illustrated via discussion of

This paper presents a general framework for combined source-channel coding within the context of subband coding. The unequal importance of subbands in reconstruction of the source is exploited by an appropriate allocation of source and channel coding rates for the coding and transmission of subbands over a noisy channel. For each subband, the source coding rate as well as the level of protection (quantified by the channel coding rate) are jointly chosen to minimize the total end-to-end mean-squared distortion suffered by the source. This allocation of source and channel coding rates is posed as a constrained optimization problem, and solved using a generalized bit allocation algorithm. The optimal choice of source and channel coding rates depends on the state of the physical channel. These results are extended to transmission over fading channels using a finite state model, where every state corresponds to an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. A coding strategy is also developed that minimizes the average distortion when the channel state is unavailable at the transmitter. We report the regulated continuous-wave (CW) operation of a second harmonic gyrotron oscillator at output power levels of over 8 W (12.4 kV and 135 mA beam voltage and current) in the TE(0,6,1) mode near 460 GHz. The gyrotron also operates in the second harmonic TE(2,6,1) mode at 456 GHz and in the TE(2,3,1) fundamental mode at 233 GHz. CW operation was demonstrated for a one-hour period in the TE(0,6,1) mode with better than 1% power stability, where the power was regulated using feedback control. Nonlinear simulations of the gyrotron operation agree with the experimentally measured output power and radio-frequency (RF) efficiency when cavity ohmic losses are included in the analysis. The output radiation pattern was measured using a pyroelectric camera and is highly Gaussian, with an ellipticity of 4%. The 460-GHz gyrotron will serve as a millimeter-wave source for sensitivity-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (dynamic nuclear polarization) experiments at a magnetic field of 16.4 T. 相似文献
