Wireless Local Area Networks have gained popularity at an unprecedented rate over the last few years. However, as the spectrum of applications they are called to support broadens, their inefficiency in meeting the diverse requirements of a wider range of applications becomes evident. Most existing access mechanisms cannot provide Quality-of-Service (QoS) assurances. Even those that are QoS aware can only provide relative service differentiation. In this work, we propose a dynamic priority medium access scheme to provide time-bounded services. By approximating an ideal Earliest Deadline First (EDF) scheduler, the proposed scheme can offer delay and delay jitter assurances while achieving high medium utilization. Analytical studies and simulation experiments document and confirm the positive characteristics of the proposed mechanism. Orestis Tsigkas received his Diploma in electrical and computer engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2002. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. degree in the same department. His research interests include medium access, as well as quality-of-service provisioning. Fotini-Niovi Pavlidou received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1988 and the Diploma in mechanical-electrical engineering in 1979 from the same institution. She is currently a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University engaged in teaching for the under- and post-graduate program in the areas of mobile communications and telecommunications networks. Her research interests are in the field of mobile and personal communications, satellite communications, multiple access systems, routing and traffic flow in networks and QoS studies for multimedia applications over the Internet. She is being involved with many national and international projects in these areas (Tempus, COST, Telematics,IST) and she has been chairing the European COST262 Action on “Spread Spectrum Systems and Techniques for Wired and Wireless Communications”. She has served as member of the TPC in many IEEE/IEE conferences and she has organized/chaired some conferences like, the “IST Mobile Summit 2002”, the 6th “International Symposium on Power Lines Communications-ISPLC2002”, the “International Conference on Communications-ICT1998” etc. She is a permanent reviewer for many IEEE/IEE journals. She has published about 80 papers in refereed journals and conferences. She has served as guest-editor on special issues as: “Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs): Standards, Research, Applications” in the International Journal of Wireless Information Networks and “Power Line Communications and Applications” in the International Journal on Communications Systems. She is a senior member of IEEE, currently chairing the joint IEEE VT&AES Chapter in Greece.  相似文献

Substituted pyrazolopyridines are potent inhibitors of phosphodiesterases and cyclin-dependent kinases. In this study, NMR was used to investigate the potential N1-H and N2-H tautomerism of 5-substituted pyrazolo[3,4-c]pyridine derivatives. Six compounds were fully characterized by using (1)H, (13)C, and (15)N chemical shifts and indirect (1)H--(13)C and (1)H--(15)N coupling constants. The (1)H NMR spectra were measured over a broad range of temperatures. All of the compounds were shown to exist predominantly in the N1-H tautomeric form. Complementary quantum-chemical calculations of the chemical shieldings and indirect spin-spin couplings support the structural conclusions drawn.  相似文献

Meniscus is a fibrocartilaginous tissue composed mainly of water and a dense elaborate collagen network with a predominantly circumferential alignment. Crystal formation and accumulation on meniscal tissue is frequently observed especially in elderly. In this study, we used X‐ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR and FT‐Raman for the structural identification of the depositions and Optical microscopy, Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM/EDX) and Atomic Force microscopy (AFM), in order to investigate the structural relationship between the crystal deposits and the collagen fibers of human meniscal tissues. We are reporting on the formation of intercalary “colonies” of Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate (CPPD) crystals with two distinct morphologies corresponding to the monoclinic and the triclinic phase, as well as the formation of micro‐aggregations composed of nano‐crystalline HAP aggregations which are developed along the longitudinal axis of collagen fibers without extensively disturbing the collagens arrangement.  相似文献

Lattice Boltzmann methods (LBMs) are very efficient for computational fluid dynamics, and for capturing the dynamics of weak acoustic fluctuations. It is known that multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method (MRT–LBM) appears as a very robust scheme with high precision. There exist several free relaxation parameters in the MRT–LBM. Although these parameters have been tuned via linear analysis, the sensitivity analysis of these parameters and other related parameters is still not sufficient for describing the behavior of the dispersion and dissipation relations of the MRT–LBM. Previous researches have shown that the bulk dissipation in the MRT–LBM induces a significant over-damping of acoustic disturbances. This indicates that the classical MRT–LBM is not best suited to recover the correct behavior of pressure fluctuations. In wave-number space, the first/second-order sensitivity analyses of matrix eigenvalues are used to address the sensitivity of the wavenumber magnitudes to the dispersion-dissipation relations. By the first-order sensitivity analysis, the numerical behaviors of the group velocity of the MRT–LBM are first obtained. Afterwards, the distribution sensitivities of the matrix eigenvalues corresponding to the linearized form of the MRT–LBM are investigated in the complex plane. Based on the sensitivity analysis and an effective algorithm of recovering linearized Navier–Stokes equations (L-NSEs) from linearized MRT–LBM (L-MRT–LBM), we propose some simplified optimization strategies to determine the free relaxation parameters of the MRT–LBM. Meanwhile, the dispersion and dissipation relations of the optimal MRT–LBM are quantitatively compared with the exact dispersion and dissipation relations. At last, some numerical validations on classical acoustic benchmark problems are shown to assess the new optimal MRT–LBM.  相似文献

We develop a cluster expansion for the probability of full connectivity of high density random networks in confined geometries. In contrast to percolation phenomena at lower densities, boundary effects, which have previously been largely neglected, are not only relevant but dominant. We derive general analytical formulas that show a persistence of universality in a different form to percolation theory, and provide numerical confirmation. We also demonstrate the simplicity of our approach in three simple but instructive examples and discuss the practical benefits of its application to different models.  相似文献

Concurrent with the rapid expansion of wireless networks is an increasing interest in providing Quality-of-Service (QoS) support to them. As a consequence, a number of medium access control protocols has been proposed which aims at providing service differentiation at the distributed wireless medium access layer. However, most of them provide only average performance assurances. We argue that average performance guarantees will be inadequate for a wide range of emerging multimedia applications and “per-flow” service assurances must be provided instead. Based on m-ary tree algorithms, we propose an adaptive and distributed medium access algorithm for single-cell ad hoc networks to provide “per-flow” service assurances to flows whose QoS requirement can be expressed as a delay requirement. Both analytical and simulation experiments are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

The long application life and stable performance of stretchable electronics have been putting forward requirements for both higher mechanical properties and better self‐healing ability of polymeric substrates. However, for self‐healing materials, simultaneously improving stretchability and robustness is still challenging. Here, by incorporating sliding crosslinker (polyrotaxanes) and hydrogen bonds into a polymer, a highly stretchable and self‐healable elastomer with good mechanical strength is achieved. The elastomer exhibits very high stretchability, such that it can be stretched to 2800% with a fracture strength of 1.05 MPa. Moreover, the elastomer can achieve nearly complete self‐healing (93%) at 55 °C. Next, tensile tests under different temperatures, step extension experiments, and in situ small angle X‐ray scattering confirm that the excellent stretchability is attributed to the combined effects of sliding cyclodextrins along guest chains and hydrogen bonds. Furthermore, a strain sensor by coating the single‐wall carbon nanotubes onto the surface of the elastic substrate is fabricated.  相似文献
