Self-organization processes and synthesis of nanostructured silver microparticles in AgNO<Subscript>3</Subscript> solutions with variable pH values

The morphology of micrometer-sized silver particles obtained by liquid-phase chemical reduction of silver nitrate with ascorbic acid depends appreciably on the solution pH. The synthesis carried out at 100°C for 20 min at pH < 4 or pH > 9 yields anisotropic faceted nanocrystalline particles, while the synthesis at pH = 5–8 results in self-assembly to give microspheres representing close-packed aggregates of a huge number of silver nanoparticles with a cauliflower structure.     

Coherent population trapping in a gas of excited atoms

Coherent population trapping in a gas discharge was studied for transitions between excited levels of neon atoms. Resonances corresponding to the arising of coherent population trapping in the Λ and V schemes for Zeeman sublevels of the lower and upper working states were observed in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. The effect of nonlinear polarization plane rotation under coherent population trapping conditions was studied. The possibility of using the results obtained in this work for diagnostics of local magnetic fields and other plasma parameters in gas discharges was considered.     

Studying edge effects near rectangular mine workings weakened by a crack

Edge effects in a rock mass near a system of periodic mine workings crossed by a crack (fold fault) are considered. The stress state near the mine workings is determined by solving an elastic problem using the piecewise-homogeneous medium model. The original differential problem is reduced to a discrete problem based on the concept of a base scheme. Methods are proposed to solve the discrete problem, and the issue of optimizing the numerical analysis is discussed. The stress distribution around mine workings is analyzed. Rocket Engine with Continuous Film Detonation of Liquid Fuel

It was experimentally proven for the first time that it is possible to perform continuous detonation combustion of a film of a liquid fuel in the annular combustor of a demonstrator of a liquid-fuel detonation rocket engine. Firing tests revealed a near-limit mode of longitudinally pulsating film detonation and modes of continuous spinning film detonation with one and two detonation waves circulating within the annular gap of the combustor.
