Some inequalities for the polar derivative of a polynomial

LetP(z) be a polynomial of degreen which does not vanish in |z|<1. In this paper, we estimate the maximum and minimum moduli of thekth polar derivative ofP(z) on |z|=1 and thereby obtain compact generalizations of some known results, which among other results, yields interesting refinements of Erdos-Lax theorem and a theorem of Ankeny and Rivlin.     

Anchored Synthesis for Some Novel Mono and Disarylazo 1,2,4-Benzothiadiazine-Based Dyestuffs as Alternatives for Benzidine-Based Dyes

A one mono and two disarylazo series of 1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-based dyestuffs has been synthesized with a view that these products, with their new all-round tinctorial properties, might find an application as new categories of direct dyes that satisfactorily replace prohibited benzidine-based dyes.

The assigned structures for the hitherto prepared dyes were confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis as well as spectral data and, whenever possible, by alternative synthetic routes. Moreover, the predominant tautomeric structures for these highly colored products were tested and discussed on the basis of their spectral behavior.     

Application of Autoradiography to the Investigation of New Doping Techniques of Semiconductor Materials

The development of technology of new semiconductor devices requires fundamental studies of a number of phenomena taking place in semiconductors during the doping process or accompanying the doping process.

These studies are concerned with the following problems:

1. Diffusion of gold in silicon and the effect of diffusion layers (particularly phosphorus layers) and epitaxial silicon layers on the distribution of gold in thin silicon plates.

2. Distribution of admixtures in silicon introduced with the aid of the ion implantation technique. Our studies concerned with the second of the above mentioned problems comprised an autoradiographic examination of the homogeneity of the beam of phosphorus ions implanted in silicon, and a study of some apparatus factors and of the purity of the basic material on the implantation.     

Coherent backscattering spectroscopy

Coherent backscattering (CBS) of light in random media has been previously investigated by use of coherent light sources. Here we report a novel method of CBS measurement that combines low spatial coherence, broadband illumination, and spectrally resolved detection. We show that low spatial coherence illumination leads to an anomalously broad CBS peak and a dramatic speckle reduction; the latter is further facilitated by low temporal coherence detection. Thus CBS can be observed in biological tissue and other media that previously were beyond the reach of conventional CBS measurements. We also demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, spectroscopic analysis of CBS. CBS spectroscopy may find important applications in probing random media such as biological tissue in which depth-selective measurements are crucial.
