Recording of dynamic holograms by nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses in solid-state fullerene-containing matrices

The results of a complex investigation of the recording of dynamic holograms by pulsed radiation with a duration of 20 ns and 300 ps in fullerene-containing media based on porous glasses and polymethyl methacrylate matrices are reported. Spectral analysis of these media in the range 300–700 nm was performed. The efficiency of hologram recording was found to relate with the occurrence of a band at 330 nm in the absorption spectrum of a medium. It is shown that dynamic holograms can be recorded in the fullerene-containing media by nanosecond and picosecond pulses. In the latter case, holograms arise mainly due to a change in the electronic polarizability of fullerene molecules, which is almost inertialess. The results obtained can be used in the development of ultrafast switching devices based on dynamic holograms.     

Polyfluoroalkylthiotrifluoroacetylketenes

A procedure was developed for the synthesis of polyfluoroalkylthiotrifluoroacetylketenes, and their reactions with nucleophilic reagents were studied. The resulting compounds were demonstrated to act as heterodienes in reactions with unsaturated compounds.     

Heterometallic hafnocene(+4) aluminum hydride complex [(ηp5-C5H5)2Hf(H)(μ2-H)Al(H)Br(μ2-OC4H9)]2

The [Cp₂HfH₂Al(H)Br(OBu)]₂ complex (1) was prepared by the reaction of Cp₂HfBr₂ with AlH₃ in THF and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The formation of dinuclear complex 1 proceeds through the intermediate formation (as a result of cleavage of THF molecules) of the >Al(μ-OBu)₂Al< fragment. The latter is linked to two hafnocene dihydride molecules by the Hf-H-Al hydrogen bridges. Influence of a Surface Microheterogeneity on the Disjoining Pressure of Adsorbed Lennard–Jones Fluid. Computer Simulation

Computer simulation of the adsorption of Lennard–Jones fluid in slitlike micropores with structured walls was performed by the Monte Carlo and molecular dynamic methods. The influence of pore width, temperature, pressure, and surface structure on the disjoining pressure was considered. Structural and energy characteristics of the surface affect significantly the value of the disjoining pressure. Among the surface structural characteristics, the important role is played by the number and localization of vacancy-type defects.     

Formation of 2,2-difluoro-3-hydroxymethylbenzo-1,4-oxathianes from 2-(α-trifluoromethylvinylthio)phenols)

It is shown that 2,2-difluoro-3-hydroxymethylbenzo-1,4-oxathianes are formed together with 3-trifluoromethylbenzo-1,4-oxathianes whenortho-(-trifluoromethyl--chloroethylthio)phenols are boiled with excess aqueous alkali. Heterometallic zirconocene(iii) aluminum hydride complex (Cp2ZrH)2HAlCl2·C4H8O2·C6H6

The heterometallic zirconocene(iii) aluminum hydride complex (Cp₂ZrH)₂HAlCl₂·C₄H₈O₂·C₆H₆ was synthesized by reduction of Cp₂ZrCl₂ with lithium aluminum hydride in the presence of Cp₂TiBH₄ and 1,4-dioxane, and its structure was established by X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Non-solvated aluminum hydride. Crystallization from diethyl ether-benzene solutions

Crystallization of non-solvated aluminum hydride from a diethyl ether-benzene mixed solvent was studied. The desolvation of AlH₃·(Et₂O)_x etherate in solution and the crystallization of α-AlH₃ during polythermal heating of the solution occur only in the presence of ≥10 wt.% LiAlH₄. The process is multistage, and the crystallization begins with the formation of the AlH₃·0.25Et₂O solvate, which recrystallizes in the solid phase into γ-AlH₃ and then α-AlH₃. Four crystalline modifications of aluminum hydride were characterized by X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Chemistry of Electronically Excited Ruthenium Polypyridine Complexes: III.1 Electronic Structure of Complexes cis-[Ru(2,2'-bpy)2(4,4'-bipy)(X)]q

The results of ab initio quantum-chemical calculations of isolated ruthenium(II) complexes cis- [Ru(bpy)₂(bipy)(X)]⁴4q (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridyl, bipy is 4,4'-bipyridyl; X = NH₃, Cl^-, Br^-, CN^-, NO^- ₂, ONO^-, MeCN, and NO⁺) are presented. Analysis of the charge distributions and the orbital structures of the complex ions points to absence of strong -acceptor bonds Ru-bpy, Ru-bipy, and Ru-X (X = NO⁺), to delocalization of -electron density under the action of strong donors X, to localized nature of lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals, and to special position of the nitrosyl complexes in this series.
