Total Synthesis of (+)-okaramine J featuring an exceptionally facile N-reverse-prenyl to C-prenyl aza-Claisen rearrangement

[reaction: see text] The convergent total synthesis of (+)-okaramine J was achieved in a longest linear sequence of 12 steps from l-tryptophan tert-butyl ester. A key reaction was the acid-catalyzed room-temperature aza-Claisen rearrangement of a N-reverse-prenylated hexahydro[2,3-b]pyrroloindole to a C-prenylated derivative.     

Retracted: A new class of copper(I) complexes with imine-containing chelators which show potent anticancer activity

Seven novel complexes (C₁–C₇) were synthesized by the interaction between Cu(I) metal cation, L₁, L₂, L₃, X and PPh₃, where L₁–L₃ are derivatives of ((pyridine-2-ylmethylene)amino)phenol imine ligands and X = Cl⁻, Br⁻, I⁻, NCS⁻. All the complexes were characterized using infrared, ¹H NMR and ³¹P NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of C₁–C₇ were also determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The organization of the crystal structures and the intermolecular interactions are discussed. The supramolecular assemblies are driven by cooperative π…π interactions and hydrogen bonds, followed by CH…π linkages. The potential anticancer effect of C₁–C₇ was assessed for human glioblastoma cells using several anticancer experiments, which showed that these complexes have marked anticancer property against U87 cells. It was also found that the minimum and maximum anticancer effects are shown by C₃- and C₄-treated samples, respectively. Furthermore, theoretical approaches were used to investigate the nature of metal–ligand interactions which suggest a closed-shell and electrostatic character for Cu…N, Cu…P and Cu…X bonds.     

Observation of B-->eta'K* and evidence for B+-->eta'rho+

We present an observation of B-->eta'K*. The data sample corresponds to 232x10(6) BB[over ] pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. We measure the branching fractions (in units of 10(-6)) B(B(0)-->eta'K*0)=3.8+/-1.1+/-0.5 and B(B+-->eta'K*+)=4.9(1.7)(+1.9)+/-0.8, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. A simultaneous fit results in the observation of B-->eta'K* with B(B-->eta'K*)=4.1(-0.9)(+1.0)+/-0.5. We also search for B-->eta'rho and eta'f(0)(980)(f(0)-->pi+pi-) with results and 90% confidence level upper limits B(B+-->eta'rho+)=8.7(-2.8-1.3)(+3.1+2.3) (<14), B(B(0)-->eta'rho0)<3.7, and B(B(0)-->eta'f(0)(980)(f(0)-->pi+pi-))<1.5. Charge asymmetries in the channels with significant yields are consistent with zero.     

Measurement of B0-B-0 flavor oscillations in hadronic B0 decays

Flavor oscillations of neutral B mesons have been studied in e+e- annihilation data collected with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies near the upsilon(4S) resonance. The data sample used for this purpose consists of events in which one B0 meson is reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the flavor of the recoiling B0 is determined with a tagging algorithm that exploits the correlation between the flavor of the heavy quark and the charges of its decay products. From the time development of the observed mixed and unmixed final states, we determine the B0-B-0 oscillation frequency deltamd to be 0.516+/-0.016(stat)+/-0.010(syst) ps-1.     

Measurement of B --> K*gamma branching fractions and charge asymmetries

The branching fractions of the exclusive decays B0-->K(*0)gamma and B+-->K(*+)gamma are measured from a sample of (22.74+/-0.36)x10(6) BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We find B (B0-->K(*0)gamma) = [4.23+/-0.40(stat)+/-0.22(syst)]x10(-5), B(B+-->K(*+)gamma) = [3.83+/-0.62(stat)+/-0.22(syst)]x10(-5) and constrain the CP-violating charge asymmetry to be -0.170K(*)gamma)<0.082 at 90% C.L.
