Contact melting in the lead-tellurium system

Contact melting (CM) in the lead-tellurium system is considered. Spontaneous temperature elevation is observed as a result of the exothermic reaction of lead telluride formation in the contact site. The effects of direct current (dc) and dopants on the CM temperature are studied.     

Alternating copolymerization of maleic anhydride with allyl chloroacetate

Some regularities of radical alternating copolymerization of maleic anhydride with allyl chloroacetate are studied. The formation of donor–acceptor complexes between comonomers with complexing constant K_c = 0.052 L/mol is found using ¹H NMR spectroscopy. The kinetic parameters for this copolymerization reaction are found and the quantitative contribution of monomer complexes to chain-growth radical reactions is calculated. It is shown that either a “free-monomer” mechanism (dilute solutions) or a “mixed” mechanism (concentrated solutions) prevails for chain growth during radical copolymerization depending on total monomer concentration. It is found that inhibition of degradative chain transfer in the course of the reaction studied takes place owing to the presence of α-chlorine atom in the allyl chloracetate molecule and formation of charge transfer complex.

Linear transmission problem for a Bitsadze system with a supersingular circle

For a second-order elliptic system with a supersingular circle whose leading part is the Bitsadze operator, we obtain an integral representation of the solution and the corresponding inversion formulas in the finite and infinite domains. The obtained integral representations are used to study the behavior of solutions as r → R and analyze a problem of linear transmission type.     

Efimov's Effect in a Model of Perturbation Theory of the Essential Spectrum

A model operator similar to the energy operator of a system with a nonconserved number of particles is studied. The essential spectrum of the operator is described, and under some natural conditions on the parameters it is shown that there are infinitely many eigenvalues lying below the bottom of the essential spectrum.

Representation of the general solution of an equation of the Cauchy–Riemann type with a supersingular circle and a singular point

For a generalized system of the Cauchy–Riemann type with complex conjugation whose coefficients admit a strong singularity on a circle and a weak singularity at a point, we find an integral representation of the general solution.
