We report on low-temperature microphotoluminescence (μ-PL) measurements of InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) exposed to a lateral
external electric field. It is demonstrated that the QDs’ PL signal could be increased severalfold by altering the external
and/or the internal electric field, which could be changed by an additional infrared laser. A model which accounts for a substantially
faster lateral transport of the photoexcited carriers achieved in an external electric field is employed to explain the observed
effects. The results obtained suggest that the lateral electric fields play a major role for the dot luminescence intensity
measured in our experiment—a finding which could be used to tailor the properties of QD-based optoelectronic applications.

The encapsulation of the nanocrystalline manganese‐doped zinc sulfide (ZnS:Mn) in poly(styrene‐b‐2vinylpyridine) (PS‐PVP) diblock copolymers is reported. Below the critical micelle concentration in the absence of nanocrystals (NCs), inverse micelles of PS‐PVP were induced by adding ZnS:Mn NCs, the presence of which was confirmed by scanning force microscope and dynamic light scattering. In toluene, a PS‐selective solvent, the less‐soluble PVP blocks preferentially surround the ligand‐coated ZnS:Mn NCs. For PS‐PVP encapsulated ZnS:Mn NCs, the ratio of blue emission to orange emission of ZnS:Mn NCs is dependent on both the concentration of PS‐PVP and the solvent quality. The pyridine of PVP blocks form complexes with the Zn atoms via the nitrogen lone pair and thus the sulfur vacancies are passivated. As a result, the defect‐related blue emission is selectively quenched even when the micelles are not formed. The kinetics and mechanism of thermal dehydration of Sr(NO3)2.4H2O and its deuterated analogue were studied by means of DTA, TG and DSC. The temperatures, enthalpies and weight losses of phase transitions were measured. The dehydration occurs in a stepwise manner, and the composition of the intermediate depends on the rate of thermal decomposition. The kinetic parameters (E
* andZ) for the two steps of dehydration at a heating rate of 5 deg min–1 were calculated. A correlation was found between the dispersity of the end-product of the thermal decomposition (SrO) and the conditions of its preparation.
Zusammenfassung Kinetik und Mechanismus der thermischen Entwässerung von Sr(NO3)2.4H2O und der deuterierten Verbindung Sr(NO3)2.4D2O wurden mittels TG-DTA und DSC untersucht. Temperaturen, Enthalpien und Gewichtsverluste der Phasenumwandlungen wurden gemessen. Der Prozess verläuft stufenweise, die Zusammensetzung des Zwischenprodukts hängt von der Zersetzungsgeschwindigkeit ab. Die kinetischen ParameterE * undZ der beiden Entwässerungsstufen bei einer Aufheizgeschwindigkeit von 5 Grad min–1 wurden berechnet. Zwischen der Dispersität des Endproduktes SrO und seinen Bildungsbedingungen wurde eine Korrelation gefunden.

Background
The common event in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) or prion diseases is the conversion of host-encoded protease sensitive cellular prion protein (PrPC) into strain dependent isoforms of scrapie associated protease resistant isoform (PrPSc) of prion protein (PrP). These processes are determined by similarities as well as strain dependent variations in the PrP structure. Selective self-interaction between PrP molecules is the most probable basis for initiation of these processes, potentially influenced by chaperone molecules, however the mechanisms behind these processes are far from understood. We previously determined that polymorphisms do not affect initial PrPC to PrPSc binding but rather modulate a subsequent step in the conversion process. Determining possible sites of self-interaction could elucidate which amino acid(s) or amino acid sequences contribute to binding and further conversion into other isoforms. To this end, ovine – and bovine PrP peptide-arrays consisting of 15-mer overlapping peptides were probed with recombinant sheep PrPC fused to maltose binding protein (MBP-PrP). 相似文献10.

Epitaxial metal/oxide based magnetic tunnel-junctions
(MTJ) are valuable model systems to investigate the influence of the
crystallinity of individual layers on the magnetic properties. We
have non-destructively studied the effect of the optical lithography
procedure on the crystalline structure of MTJ’s with lateral spatial
resolution by performing local x-ray diffraction experiments using a
microfocused x-ray spot. We demonstrate that the lithography process
produces distortion effects on the crystalline structure of the
layers near the edges of the lithographed junction. These
distortions are present on all the constituent layers and are most
probably driven by the elastic constants of the materials. They
translate into tilts of the crystalline planes in the vicinity of
the edges and propagate towards the center of the junction; the
tilt’s amplitude (up to several degrees) and sign (concave or
convex) depend on the junction’s shape, size and the type of
materials (interfaces) used. We report results for junctions made
with two types of metal-oxide interfaces (Co/CoFe2O4 and
Co/Fe3O4), with sizes from 10 to 150 μm and various shapes
