A consistent quantization with a clear notion of time and evolution is given for the anisotropic Kantowski–Sachs cosmological model. It is shown that a suitable coordinate choice allows to obtain a solution of the Wheeler–DeWitt equation in the form of definite energy states, and that the results can be associated to two disjoint equivalent theories, one for each sheet of the constraint surface.  相似文献

Unsteady, axisymmetric stagnation flow about a circular cylinderis examined when the far-field flow is a periodic function oftime with a fixed time average and an oscillatory part of prescribedamplitude and frequency. Solutions are computed for arbitraryvalues of the Reynolds number, quantifying the effects of surfacecurvature, and a frequency parameter based on the period ofthe far-field flow. It is found that solutions remain regularand periodic provided that the far-field amplitude lies belowa critical value. Above this value, solutions terminate in afinite-time singularity. The blow-up time is delayed by increasingthe curvature of the surface. These results are corroboratedby asymptotic predictions valid in the limits of small and largeamplitude and frequency. For large Reynolds number, the problemreduces to the two-dimensional stagnation-point flow againsta plane wall studied by previous authors.  相似文献

In the design of certain kinds of electronic circuits the following question arises: given a non-negative integerk, what graphs admit of a plane embedding such that every edge is a broken line formed by horizontal and vertical segments and having at mostk bends? Any such graph is said to bek-rectilinear. No matter whatk is, an obvious necessary condition fork-rectilinearity is that the degree of each vertex does not exceed four. Our main result is that every planar graphH satisfying this condition is 3-rectilinear: in fact, it is 2-rectilinear with the only exception of the octahedron. We also outline a polynomial-time algorithm which actually constructs a plane embedding ofH with at most 2 bends (3 bends ifH is the octahedron) on each edge. The resulting embedding has the property that the total number of bends does not exceed 2n, wheren is the number of vertices ofH.  相似文献

S -nitrosothiols have many biological activities and may act as nitric oxide (NO) carriers and donors, prolonging NO half-life in vivo. In spite of their great potential as therapeutic agents, most S -nitrosothiols are too unstable to isolate. We have shown that the S -nitroso adduct of N -acetylcysteine (SNAC) can be synthesized directly in aqueous and polyethylene glycol (PEG) 400 matrix by using a reactive gaseous (NO/O2) mixture. Spectral monitoring of the S–N bond cleavage showed that SNAC, synthesized by this method, is relatively stable in nonbuf-fered aqueous solution at 25°C in the dark and that its stability is greatly increased in PEG matrix, resulting in a 28-fold decrease in its initial rate of thermal decomposition. Irradiation with UV light (λ= 333 nm) accelerated the rate of decomposition of SNAC to NO in both matrices, indicating that SNAC may find use for the photogeneration of NO. The quantum yield for SNAC decomposition decreased from 0.65 ± 0.15 in aqueous solution to 0.047 ± 0.005 in PEG 400 matrix. This increased stability in PEG matrix was assigned to a cage effect promoted by the PEG microenvironment that increases the rate of geminated radical pair recombination in the homolytic S–N bond cleavage process. This effect allowed for the storage of SNAC in PEG at −20°C in the dark for more than 10 weeks with negligible decomposition. Such stabilization may represent a viable option for the synthesis, storage and handling of S -nitrosothiol solutions for biomedical applications.  相似文献

Most methods of measuring the interfacial tension between two immiscible polymers are based on the analysis of the shape that a drop of one polymer immersed in the other one exhibits under the action of flow or gravity. In such a situation, the small, yet nonzero mutual solubility between the two polymers acts toward mass transfer between the drop and the surrounding fluid. In this work, diffusion effects on the interfacial tension of the pair polyisobutylene/polydimethylsiloxane have been investigated by drop deformation under shear flow. When the drop was made of polyisobutylene, drop size decreased with time due to diffusion. Drop shrinkage was associated with a significant increase in interfacial tension, until an apparent plateau value was reached. The effect was attributed to a selective migration of molecular weights, which would act to enrich the drop with higher molar mass material. To support such an interpretation, drop viscosity was evaluated by drop shape analysis and it was actually found to increase with time. In some cases, the ratio between drop and continuous phase viscosity became higher than the critical value for drop breakup in shear flow. Upon inverting the phases (i.e., when the drop was made of polydimethylsiloxane), no significant transient effects were observed. In the light of these results, the problem of what are the correct values of interfacial tension and viscosity ratio for a polymer blend of a certain composition will also be discussed. Meta-learning, or “learning to learn”, refers to techniques that infer an inductive bias from data corresponding to multiple related tasks with the goal of improving the sample efficiency for new, previously unobserved, tasks. A key performance measure for meta-learning is the meta-generalization gap, that is, the difference between the average loss measured on the meta-training data and on a new, randomly selected task. This paper presents novel information-theoretic upper bounds on the meta-generalization gap. Two broad classes of meta-learning algorithms are considered that use either separate within-task training and test sets, like model agnostic meta-learning (MAML), or joint within-task training and test sets, like reptile. Extending the existing work for conventional learning, an upper bound on the meta-generalization gap is derived for the former class that depends on the mutual information (MI) between the output of the meta-learning algorithm and its input meta-training data. For the latter, the derived bound includes an additional MI between the output of the per-task learning procedure and corresponding data set to capture within-task uncertainty. Tighter bounds are then developed for the two classes via novel individual task MI (ITMI) bounds. Applications of the derived bounds are finally discussed, including a broad class of noisy iterative algorithms for meta-learning.  相似文献

F. communis and D. viscosa are perennial Mediterranean weeds that have been used for different therapeutic purposes in traditional pharmacopeia. Plant extracts were obtained from air dried D. viscosa young shoots (DvA) and F. communis aerial part (FcA) and roots (FcR) with n-hexane. The chemical compositions of the extracts were analyzed by HPLC-DAD, LC-MS (ESI) and LC-Q-TOF techniques. Two sesquiterpene lactones (inuviscolide, tomentosin) and three sesquiterpene acids (costic acid, hydroxycostic acid, ilicic acid) were identified from the D. viscosa extract, while in F. communis extracts three daucane sesquiterpenes (acetoxyferutinin, oxojaeskeanadioyl anisate, fertidin) and one coumarin (ferulenol) derivates were found. Biological activities of plant extracts were studied in in vitro experiments on the colonies and conidia of Botryotinia fuckeliana, Penicillium digitatum, P. expansum, Monilinia laxa, M. fructigena and Aspergillus spp. Extracts showed varying degree of antifungal activities on colony growth and conidia germination. The extract from FcA showed the least effect, while DvA extract had the strongest fungitoxic effects. FcR extract presented a fungitoxic effect on the colony growth, but it was not able to inhibit the conidia germination. These distinctions can be attributed to the differences in chemical composition of plant extracts.  相似文献
