Para-halosubstituted thiophenols (X-TPs, where X is Br, Cl, or F) form ordered islands and monolayers on Cu(111) at temperatures as low as 81 K. At incomplete coverages, all X-TPs adsorb with the dehydrogenated thiol group attached to the substrate and the substituted ring inclined toward the surface, as verified experimentally and theoretically. The structure of ordered islands has a pronounced dependence on the nature of the halogen substituent: while unsubstituted TP and pentafluoro-TP molecules do not self-assemble into extended ordered patterns at 81 K, X-TP molecules form a range of different structures which depend both on the size and electronegativity of the substituent, as well as on the coverage.  相似文献

We report coherent spin manipulation on Cr(5+) (S = 1/2, I = 0) doped K(3)NbO(8), which constitutes a dilute two-level model relevant for use as a spin qubit. Rabi oscillations are observed for the first time in a spin system based on transition metal oxides up to room temperature. At liquid helium temperature the phase coherence relaxation time T2 reaches approximately 10 micros and, with a Rabi frequency of 20 MHz, yields a single-qubit figure of merit Q(M) of about 500. This shows that a diluted ensemble of Cr(5+) (S = 1/2) doped K(3)NbO(8) is a potential candidate for solid-state quantum information processing.  相似文献

Continuous-time core-level photon-stimulated desorption (PSD) spectroscopy was used to study the soft x-ray-induced reactions of CF(3)Br molecules adsorbed on Si(111)-7×7 near the Si(2p) edge (98-110 eV). The monochromatic synchrotron radiation was employed as a soft x-ray light source in the photon-induced reactions and also as a probe for investigating the produced fluorination states of the bonding surface Si atom in the positive-ion PSD spectroscopy. Several different surface coverages were investigated. The PSD spectra from the low-CF(3)Br-covered surfaces show the production of surface SiF species, while those from the high-CF(3)Br-covered surfaces depict the formation of surface SiF, SiF(2), and SiF(3) species. The photolysis cross section of the submonolayer CF(3)Br-covered surface is determined as ~4.3×10(-18) cm(2). A comparison with the results on CF(3)Cl/Si(111)-7×7 surface is discussed.  相似文献

High-efficiency polymer light-emitting diodes were fabricated by inserting a layer of nonionic neutral surfactant between the electroluminescent (EL) layer and the high-work-function aluminum cathode via spin coating. It was found that both the poly(ethylene glycol)- and poly(propylene glycol)-based surfactants as well as their copolymers can all demonstrate similar performance enhancement. Device performances comparable to or even better than those of the control devices using calcium as the cathode have been achieved for both poly(p-phenylene)-based and polyfluorene-based conjugated polymers with orange-red, green, and blue emission colors. It is possible that when both surfactant and aluminum are used as the cathode, the abundant hole injection through a hole-transporting layer and hole pile-up at the inner side of the EL/surfactant interface might cause an effective electric field to induce the realignment of the dipole moment of those polar surfactant molecules, thus lowering the barrier for electron injection. In addition, the coordination between the aluminum and oxygen atoms on the surfactant might cause n-type doping in the areas near surfactant in the EL polymer layer that causes the enhancement of electron injection.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] A facile synthetic route has been developed to convert an electron-rich, sterically hindered dialkylaminodienone into a conjugated dialkylaminotrienal with good yield. The derived dialkylaminotetraene-type nonlinear optical chromophores possess an all-trans conformation and can be functionalized with fluoro-dendron to provide proper shape modification for poling. Polymers doped with two examples of these chromophores in high concentrations have been poled to afford ultra-large electrooptic coefficients (r(33)) of 208 and 262 pm/V, respectively, at the measuring wavelength of 1.31 mum.  相似文献

We observe low-field hysteretic magnetoresistance in a (Ga,Mn)As single-electron transistor which can exceed 3 orders of magnitude. The sign and size of the magnetoresistance signal are controlled by the gate voltage. Experimental data are interpreted in terms of electrochemical shifts associated with magnetization rotations. This Coulomb blockade anisotropic magnetoresistance is distinct from previously observed anisotropic magnetoresistance effects as it occurs when the anisotropy in a band structure derived parameter is comparable to an independent scale, the single-electron charging energy. Effective kinetic-exchange model calculations in (Ga,Mn)As show chemical potential anisotropies consistent with experiment and ab initio calculations in transition metal systems suggest that this generic effect persists to high temperatures in metal ferromagnets with strong spin-orbit coupling.  相似文献

Pure and efficient red light-emitting diodes based on novel europium (Eu) and osmium (Os) complexes were demonstrated. The Eu complex, with dendron substituted diketone ligands, exhibits high photoluminescence efficiency of 45%. When a copolymer containing carbazole and 1,3,4-oxadiazole groups was used as the host, narrow electroluminescence at 617 nm was achieved, with a full width at half maximum of 4 nm and a maximum external quantum efficiency (η) of 0.80%. The Os complex shows pure red emission peaking at 650 nm. The Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates (x, y) are (0.65, 0.33). Maximum η and brightness achieved were 0.82% and 590 cd/m2, respectively.  相似文献

The synthesis and processing of second order nonlinear optical polymeric materials for application in electro-optic devices is described with particular emphasis on (1) the synthesis and incorporation into hardened polymer lattices of chromophores characterized by large μβ (where μ is the dipole moment and β is the molecular first hyperpolarizability) values; (2) the synthesis and incorporation into hardened polymer lattices of chromophores which are capable of undergoing photo-induced conformational changes and which can be processed by new multi-color photolithography techniques into buried channel active waveguides; and (3) the processing of polymeric nonlinear optical materials appropriate for the realization of full integration with very large scale integration (VLSI) drive electronics and with silica fiber optic transmission lines. Prototype modulators have been fabricated and shown to be suitable for broadband operation from 0 to 113 GHz. Optical losses associated with waveguide wall roughness and with mode mismatch in transitioning between silica and polymeric waveguides are reduced by control of the conditions of reactive ion etching and by use of the new technique of multi-color photochemical lithography.  相似文献

Parallel-displaced pi-pi stacking interactions have been known to be the dominant force in stabilizing the double helical structure of DNA and the tertiary structure of proteins. However, little is known about their roles in self-assembled monolayers of other large pi molecules such as aromatic thiols. Here we report on a systematic study of the self-assembled monolayers of four kinds of anthracene-based thiols, 9-mercaptoanthracene (MA), (4-mercaptophenyl) (9-anthryl) acetylene (MPAA), (4-mercaptophenyl) (10-nitro-9-anthryl) acetylene (MPNAA), and (4-mercaptophenyl) (10-carboxyl-9-anthryl) acetylene (MPCAA) on Au(111), in which a spacer and different functional groups (NO2 and COOH) are intentionally designed to introduce and thus allow the investigation of various intermolecular interactions, in addition to pi-pi interactions in the base molecules. We find that all molecules form long-range-ordered monolayers and, more interestingly, that these assembled monolayers exhibit essentially the same fundamental packing structure. On the basis of high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy observations, we propose the space-filling models for the observed superstructures and demonstrate that all superstructures can be understood in terms of the parallel-displaced pi-pi stacking interactions, despite the presence of competing dipole-dipole and H-bonding interactions associated with these specially designed functional groups.  相似文献
