Experimental results for the susceptibility, magnetization, specific heat, 4f occupation number, Hall effect, and magnetoresistance for single crystals of the intermediate valence (IV) compound YbAl3 show that, in addition to the Kondo temperature scale T(K) approximately 670 K, there is a low temperature scale T(coh) approximately 30-40 K for the onset of Fermi liquid coherence. Furthermore, the crossover from the low temperature Fermi liquid regime to the high temperature local moment regime is slower than predicted by the Anderson impurity model. We suggest that these effects are generic for IV compounds and we discuss them in terms of the theory of the Anderson lattice. 相似文献

CeRhIn5 is a new heavy-electron material that crystallizes in a quasi-2D structure that can be viewed as alternating layers of CeIn3 and RhIn2 stacked sequentially along the tetragonal c axis. This paper treats the problem of determining conditions for the Fourier coefficients of a Maass–Hecke newform at cusps other than infinity to be multiplicative. To be precise, the Fourier coefficients are defined using a choice of matrix in $\mathit{SL}(2, \mathbb{Z})$ which maps infinity to the cusp in question. Let c and d be the entries in the bottom row of this matrix, and let N be the minimal level. In earlier work with Dorian Goldfeld and Min Lee, we proved that the coefficients will be multiplicative whenever N divides 2cd. This paper proves that they will not be multiplicative unless N divides 576cd. Further, if one assumes that the Hecke eigenvalue vanishes less than half the time, then this number drops to 4cd, and a precise condition governing the case where N divides 4cd and not 2cd is obtained. 相似文献

《Physica C: Superconductivity and its Applications》1994,230(3-4):397-406The magnetization of single-crystal HoNi2B2C has been measured as a function of applied field (H) and temperature in order to probe the interplay between superconductivity and magnetism in this complex layered system. The normal-state magnetic susceptibility of HoNi2B2C is highly anisotropic with a Curie-Weiss-like temperature dependence for H applied perpendicular to the c-axis and with a much weaker temperature dependence for H applied parallel to the c-axis, indicating that the Ho+3 magnetic moments lie predominately in the tetragonal a−b plane below 20 K. High-field magnetization (2000 Oe), low-field magnetization (20 Oe) and zero-field specific heat all give an antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of TN=5.0 K. Remarkably, in 20 Oe applied field both superconductivity (Tc=8.0 K) and antiferromagnetism (TN=5.0 K) clearly make themselves manifest in the magnetization data. From these magnetization data a phase diagram in the H−T plane was constructed for both directions of applied field. This phase diagram shows a non-monotonic temperature dependence of Hc2 with a deep minimum at TN=5 K. The high-field magnetization data for H applied perpendicular to the c-axis also reveal a cascade of three phase transitions for T < 5 K and H < 15 000 Oe, contributing to the rich H versus T phase diagram for HoNi2B2C at low temperatures. 相似文献

The low-frequency dielectric response of hole-doped insulators La(2)Cu(1-x)Li(x)O(4) and La(2-x)Sr(x)NiO(4) shows a large dielectric constant epsilon(') at high temperature and a steplike drop by a factor of 100 at a material-dependent low temperature T(f). T(f) increases with frequency, and the dielectric response shows universal scaling in a Cole-Cole plot, suggesting that a charge-glass state is realized both in the cuprates and in the nickelates. 相似文献
