The fluid of two-dimensional hard disks is investigated over a range of densities by Monte Carlo simulations in order to detect and characterize structural changes which take place when the condition of freezing and melting is approached. A novel method is proposed based on the use of the Voronoi tessellation and a certain shape factor which turns out to be a clear indicator of the presence of different underlying substructures (domains). Close to the freezing condition the probability distribution of the shape factor develops a second distinct maximum corresponding to a predominant presence of near-regular hexagons, whereas the original peak, having its origin primarily in pentagons and distorted hexagons, diminishes and disappears at melting density. 相似文献

Detergent-resistant membrane (DRM) rafts have been shown to play a pivotal role in regulating key cell biological processes, such as signal transduction, cellular transport and cell survival. The fine structure of membrane rafts are studied using various different imaging approaches and the outcomes are largely dependent on the detection methodology applied. All these microscopy techniques which employ light-, laser- and photon-optics, electrons as well as atomic force probing are characterized on their turn by their strengths and limitations for membrane raft identification. This explains in part the diversity of definitions available to describe these peculiar membrane structures. We present herewith an alternative and uncomplicated microscopy tool to study fluorescently labelled DRMs with information at the transmission electron microscopical level of the same cell, enabling us to obtain a snapshot of the morpho-functional relationships between the cell's interior and DRMs. The proposed approach of correlative fluorescence electron microscopy (CFEM) can therefore be considered as an additional alternative imaging approach to unravel DRM structure–function relationships from micro- to nanometre length scales, from the cell to the molecule. 相似文献

We present two-color fs pump-probe spectra of Na2F which were recorded by employing excitation wavelengths around 1208 nm (pump) and ionization wavelengths around 405 nm (probe). The observed oscillatory structure of the signal with a period of 185 fs shows an excellent agreement with our simulated spectra. The employed ab initio Wigner distribution approach provides clear evidence that this observation is caused by photoinduced metal bond breaking followed by a butterfly-type periodic geometric rearrangement. 相似文献

In this work, a simple way for study the possibility of formation a vapor cluster species of tetrachloroauric acid (HAuCl4), using the laser ablation in the absence of a buffer or reactive atmosphere, and without a postablation supersonic expansion on a commercial matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer, is reported. Tetrachloroauric acid is known as precursor for the synthesis of gold nanostructures and the complex salts; therefore it is an important task to discover and quantify the species arising from HAuCl4, in order to understand their role in the gold assisted reactions. Mass spectrum of HAuCl4 in a reflector negative-ion mode contains the hydrated mono- and dinuclear gold clusters in the m/z range 286–436, and gold chloride clusters in the m/z range 447–795. In the first part of spectrum, m/z range 286–436, the hydrated gold cluster species of type Au n ? (H2O)m (n?=?1–2; m?=?1, 2, 5, 7, 8) and [Aun(OH)k]?(H2O)m (n?=?1–2; k?=?1–2; m?=?1, 4–8) were found. Besides that, there are gold chloride clusters with general formula [AuHr(HCl)2]?(H2O)m (m?=?1–5; 8–9; r?=?0–2) in this part of spectrum. In the second part of spectrum, the m/z range 447–795, only gold chloride clusters were obtained. Their general formulae can be written as [AuClt(HCl)v]?(H2O)m (t?=?1–4; v?=?5–8; m?=?2–4, 6–8) and [Aun(HCl)v]?(H2O)m (n?=?1–2, v?=?4–5, m?=?1–2, 5, 7). The analysis of concentration effects on the LDI mass spectra of gold clusters reveals that the relative intensities of signals for the mono- and dinuclear Au clusters increase with decreasing the concentration of water HAuCl4 solutions. 相似文献

Spin-lattice relaxation in multiple-pulse experiments as contrast parameter in NMR imaging of solids
The molecular motion contrast parameter for NMR imaging of solids and quasi-solids based on the spin-lattice relaxation (T leff) in multiple-pulse experiments is discussed. For Ostroff-Waugh multiple-pulse sequence theT leff contrast parameter is evaluated in slow and fast molecular motion regime and compared with spin-lattice relaxation in the rotating frame contrast parameter. It is shown thatT leff is offering a good molecular motion contrast in NMR imaging of polymer systems. The radio-frequency pulse scheme forT leff-imaging using magic-echo phase-encoding procedure for recording spatial distribution in solids is introduced. A method forT leff-weighted imaging using gradient spin-echo valid for weak dipolar solids is also discussed. The one-dimensional protonT leff image using Ostroff-Waugh pulse sequence in combination with frequency-encoding imaging procedure is presented for a phantom of poly(ethyleneoxide) and poly(methylmethacrylate). The distribution of mechanical stresses in a acrylate film on glass is investigated by protonT leff-imaging. A new heteronuclear decoupling mechanism under fast magic-angle spinning MAS is introduced. It is based on refocusing the coherences responsible for the dephase of low-gamma nuclei ((13)C, (15)N) transverse spin-polarization in the presence of strongly dipolar-coupled protons, and has the advantage that can be implemented by pulsed techniques, with all the benefits resulting from a reduced duty cycle compared with conventional decoupling by continuous rf irradiation. The decoupling efficiency of a simple rotor-synchronized Hahn-echo pulse train is analyzed both theoretically and experimentally. It was found that a substantial improvement in sensitivity and resolution can be achieved in compounds with small (1)H chemical shielding parameters even at moderate sample spinning, and some interesting applications are shown. It is also shown that much faster spinning frequencies, or alternative refocusing sequences, are needed for applications on rigid organic solids, i.e., in systems with larger (1)H chemical shifts. 相似文献

We propose a criterion giving a sufficient condition for quantum states of a harmonic oscillator not to be expressible as a convex mixture of Gaussian states. This nontrivial property is inherent to, e.g., a single-photon state and the criterion thus allows one to reveal a signature of the state even in quantum states with a positive Wigner function. The criterion relies on directly measurable photon number probabilities and enables detection of this manifestation of a single-photon state in quantum states produced by solid-state single-photon sources in a weak coupling regime. 相似文献
