Synthesis of submicron CaZrO<Subscript>3</Subscript> in combustion reactions

Submicron CaZrO₃ powder is obtained in combustion reactions (solution combustion synthesis—SCS) with glycine. It is found that SCS reduces the sintering temperature of CaZrO₃ powders. The dielectric properties of calcium zirconate ceramics are studied by the electrochemical impedance method. It is shown that a ceramics of powders obtained by the SCS method has high dielectric characteristics.     

C- and N-Amidotrichloroethylation of Azoles

1H-Pyrazoles, triazoles, and imidazoles in reaction with ethoxycarbonylimine and arylsulfonylimines of chloral yield addition products, corresponding 1-(1-amidotrichloroethyl)azoles. Derivatives of 1-alkylpyrazoles and pyrazolones react with chloral 4-chlorophenylsulfonylimine to furnish products of C-amidotrichloroethylation into position 4 of the azole ring.     

Synthesis and Properties of Carbocyclic Schiff Bases

New Schiff bases containing both adamantyl and phenyl fragments in a single molecule were synthesized by condensation of appropriate diamines with aromatic aldehydes. The condensation products were brought into reduction and nucleophilic addition reactions.     

Copolymerization of 1-Vinyl-1,2,4-triazole with 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate

Radical copolymerization of 1-vinyl-1,2,4-triazole with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate in dimethylformamide and ethanol, initiated with azobis(isobutyronitrile), was studied. The copolymerization constants of this pair of monomers at low conversions and the microstructure parameters were determined. New highly hydrophilic thinly cross-linked copolymers were prepared from these monomers in the presence of crosslinking agents.     

Synthesis in the phenothiazine series

Quaternary salts of imidazo[4,5,1-k,l]phenothiazine were reduced with potassium borohydride to 1,2-dihydro-2-methylimidazo[4,5,1-k,l]phenothiazine, which was converted to 1,2 dihydro-2-methylimidazo[4,5,1-k,l]phenothiazine-1-thione and 1-methylamino-10-formylphenothiazine. The latter was hydrolyzed to 1-methylaminophenothiazine, which was also obtained by reduction of methyl phenothiazine-1-carbamate. The electrosurface characteristics of dispersions of silicon and titanium aeroxides in solutions containing indifferent and specifically sorbed ions

The electrokinetic potentials of silicon and titanium aeroxides and the adsorption of potential-determining ions on them are measured as functions of pH in 10^?3-1 M NaCl solutions. The positions of the points of zero charge and the isoelectric points are determined. The adsorption of a cationic dye, oxazine 1, from aqueous solutions free of background electrolytes and in the presence of 10^?2 M NaCl is measured for both the oxides. The effect of the adsorption of the specifically sorbed cation on the electrokinetic behavior of the tested aeroxides is analyzed.     

Effect of the Surface Pretreatment on the Electrokinetic Properties of Silicon and Silicon Oxide

The electrokinetic characteristics (the isoelectric point, electrokinetic potential, and surface conductivity) are studied as functions of pH against the background of NaCl solutions for the initial surfaces of silicon (covered with an oxide layer) and silicon oxide (a plane-parallel capillary of quartz glass and aerosil OX-50) and for the same surfaces after a preliminary thermal and chemical (CCl₄ vapors at 400°C) treatment. The position of the isoelectric point for the systems in question is shown to be primarily affected by the preliminary annealing, which shifts this point toward higher pH. The electrokinetic behavior of silicon plates covered with an oxide film is compared to the electrode behavior of a similar board of an ion-selective field-effect transistor.
