Resonant photoionization in thenl outer-shell of 2p 6 nl excited sodium is studied between 32.50 and 33.50 eV. Resonances are of the type 2p 6 nl → 2p 5 3snl → 2p 6 ελ, i.e. corresponding to the excitation of a 2p core-electron to a 3s orbital. Experimental technique combines laser and synchrotron radiation for exciting sequentially sodium atoms. The main features of the resonances — energies and total oscillator strengths — are measured or estimated. From the results, one concludes that the valence electron is almost decoupled from the core, with respect to the core excitation. 相似文献

Magnetic dichroism in the angular distribution has been demonstrated for single-electron photoemission from inner ns(2) subshells of gaseous atomic targets using the example of K-shell photoionization of polarized Li atoms laser prepared in the 1s(2)2p (2)P(3/2) excited state. The effect is pronounced for the conjugate shakeup and conjugate shakedown photoelectron lines, and less important, though observable, for the main and direct shakeup lines. The phenomenon is caused by configuration interaction in the final continuum state and is quantitatively described by the close-coupling R-matrix calculations. 相似文献

The 1s photoionization of atomic Li was studied by photoelectron spectroscopy in the photon energy region between 85 and 140 eV for the ground state and the three lowest excited configurations Li(*) 1s(2)nl, nl=2p, 3s, 3p. The importance of electron correlations was investigated by comparing the multielectron transitions, so-called shake-up and conjugate shake-up satellites, and the direct process, so-called main lines. The relative intensity of the satellites increases with the level of initial excitation of the Li atom. The shake-up process dominates for states with an n=3 valence electron and the satellites become stronger than the main lines. This spectacular effect can be explained by the spatial overlap of the initial and final state wave functions. Surprisingly, the spatial overlap affects shake-up and conjugate shake-up lines in the same way. 相似文献

Partial 3d5/2 photoionization cross sections of atomic Cs and Ba as well as the asymmetry parameter beta of the angular distribution of the Cs 3d5/2 photoelectrons were investigated near the threshold of the 3d3/2 channel at about 750 eV and 800 eV, respectively. Strong electron correlations, in particular, the spin-orbit activated interchannel coupling between the 3d5/2 and 3d3/2 channels, govern the observed spectra. The most striking effect was found for beta5/2 of Cs with a dramatic increase from beta=1.0 to beta=1.5 in the energy region where the mixing between both channels causes a pronounced minimum in the partial 3d5/2 cross section. This result indicates the decisive influence of the interference term on the asymmetry parameter beta with its dependence on the phase difference between the outgoing p and f waves. 相似文献

We have measured the angle-resolved energy dependence of the electrons emitted over the energy range of the triply excited 2s(2)2p 2P lithium resonance using synchrotron radiation. We have also calculated the behavior of the angular distribution parameter beta using the R-matrix approximation. Experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement and show deep minima in the 1s2p (1, 3)P ionic channels. The energy at which the minima occur does not coincide with the resonance energy, but is shifted towards higher energy. 相似文献
