During studies of the impact of single neutrons on superfluid3He at around 100μK we have measured the thermal energy released in the superfluid following the nuclear reaction, n+3He→p+3H+764keV. However, we find that the measured energy deposited in the quasiparticle system shortly after this reaction is substantially less than what we expect. We believe that this energy deficit represents that energy which has gone into the creation of vortices, in analogy to the creation of cosmic strings in the early universe via the Kibble mechanism. Furthermore, from the magnitude of the deficit, we can infer the vortex density which compares favorably with that predicted in Zurek’s scenairo.  相似文献

The orientation of the order parameter in the A-like and B-like phases of superfluid 3He immersed in uniaxially compressed aerogel is reported. With the use of NMR methods, it is found that the orbital momentum of the A-and B-like phases is oriented along the deformation. In the A-like phase, a relatively narrow NMR line with an anomalously large negative frequency shift is observed. The Leggett frequency in the A-like phase, which shows the same energy gap suppression as in the B-like phase, is measured. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The Bose–Einstein condensation of magnons was observed in 1984 in superfluid 3He–B. The same phenomena should exist in solid magnetic systems. We describe here a partly digital experimental setup for studying solid antiferromagnets CsMnF3 and MnCO3 by pulse and continuous wave nuclear magnetic resonance. With this equipment, the Bose–Einstein condensation of magnons was observed for the first time in these single crystals.  相似文献

We report on the observation of an anomalously high damping measured by a vibrating-wire resonator (VWR) immersed into superfluid at ultralow temperatures. The observed dissipation is orders of magnitude above that corresponding to friction with the dilute normal fraction and superfluid vortices. A clear pinning behavior is also observed, as well as a strong magnetic field dependence. Our analysis points to the interaction of the VWR with a planar topological defect, analogue to cosmological vacua defects, as proposed by Salomaa and Volovik.  相似文献

The transition between the texture of 3HeB confined by a set of parallel plates and the texture of bulk 3HeB influenced by a radio-frequency pulse is considered. The reverse relaxation process is studied experimentally. It turns out that the relaxation is not homogeneous.  相似文献
