We report measurements of the magnetic penetration depth lambda(T) in high-quality CePt3Si samples down to 0.049 K. We observe a linear temperature dependence below T approximately equal to 0.16Tc, which is interpreted as evidence for line nodes in the energy gap of the low-temperature phase of this material. A kink in lambda(T) at about 0.53 K may be associated with the second superconducting transition recently reported. The results are discussed in terms of the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter.  相似文献

We show how the low-frequency dependence of the proton spin-lattice relaxation time T1(nu) of octylcyanobiphenyl liquid crystals confined in high-density silica gels evidences a long-range order nematic phase in spite of the strong confinement and random disorder of the gels. The universal value and frequency dependence observed, T1(nu) proportional, variant nu(2/3), is interpreted within a relaxation model due to director fluctuations in nematic liquid crystals confined to mass fractal porous media. The model provides a relation T1(nu) proportional, variant nu(2-d/2), giving a reliable value of the structural fractal dimension d(f)=2.67 for all the host silica gels.  相似文献

From a combined analysis of the stoichiometric composition and Urbach tail in samples of CuInSe2, CuInTe2, and CuGaTe2 of the I-III-VI2 family of chalcopyrite semiconductors, it is found that the energy p involved in the electron/exciton-phonon interaction is a linear function of a parameter Δz which is the sum of the deviations from ideal molecularity Δx and anion to cation ratio Δy. It gives evidence that in the copper ternaries p is associated to the structural defects caused by cation-cation, cation-anion, and other intrinsic disorders. The high value of p found in the studied samples, higher than the highest optical mode, is shown to come from the contribution of the additional phonon energy due to structural defects. This is in agreement with recently proposed models of the temperature dependence of the Urbach energy.  相似文献

We report on measurements of the temperature dependence of the magnetic penetration depth down to 0.04 K in a high-quality sample of the beta-pyrochlore KOs2O6 (Tc=9.65 K) with a spin-frustrated lattice. We observe temperature-independent behavior below T approximately 0.3Tc, which is firm evidence for the presence of an isotropic superconducting gap in this material. In the whole temperature range the superfluid density is very well described, without the need of adjustable parameters, by a strong-coupling extension of the BCS model for an isotropic gap. Thus, the penetration depth results indicate that KOs2O6 is a strong-coupling superconductor with a fully developed energy gap. No effect of the second phase transition taking place at Tp=7.5 K was observed on the penetration depth, which suggests that the Cooper pairs remain unperturbed across this transition.  相似文献

Two previous models used with success in Cu-III-VI2 semiconductors have been employed to study the temperature dependence of the Urbach energy in ordered compounds Cu-III3-VI5 and Cu-III5-VI8. The model which contains two variable parameters seems to explain better the data over the whole temperature range studied. However, the ordered vacancy or the donor acceptor defect pair in the cation sublattice provides new features in these compounds that need further study.  相似文献

We study the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity in a single crystal of p-type uncompensated CuInTe2 on the insulating side of the metal-insulator transition down to 0.4 K. We observe a crossover from Mott to Efros-Shklovskii variable-range hopping conduction. In Efros-Shklovskii-type conduction, the resistivity is best described by explicitly including a preexponential temperature dependence according to the general expression ρ=ρ0Tαexp(TES/T)1/2, with α≠0. A theory based on the resistor network model was developed to derive an explicit relation between α and the decay of the wavefunction of the localized states. A consistent correspondence between the asymptotic extension of the wavefunction and the conduction regime is proposed. The results indicate a new mechanism for a local resistivity maximum in insulators, not involving magnetic effects.  相似文献

We report measurements of the magnetic penetration depth in single crystals of Sr2RuO4 down to 0.04 K using a tunnel-diode based, self-inductive technique. We observe a power law temperature dependence below 0.8 K, with no sign of a second phase transition nor of a crossover predicted for a multiband superconductor. A power law dependence suggests that the gap function has nodes, inconsistent with candidate p-wave states. We argue that nonlocal effects, rather than impurity scattering, can explain the observed T2 dependence instead of the T-linear behavior expected for line nodes.  相似文献
