A new kind of tunable optical filter is proposed for DWDM optical communication application. It is based on cascaded polarization interference filter (PIF). The period and bandpass width of each PIF are decided by its optical path difference between o-ray and e-ray (OPDOE). When their OPDOEs are proportionately designed, the tuning range and bandpass width depend on OPDOE in the first and the last PIF, respectively. The tuning range, bandpass width and crosstalk are independent each other. The crosstalk is related to the OPDOE ratios among PIFs and can be suppressed by designing the PIF's 15 × 2N-7 × l1, 10 × 2N-6 × l1 and 2N-2 × l1 from the first to the last. This suggested OPDOEs can yield -50-dB crosstalk for any tuning range and bandpass width. The insert loss is less than i dB. As its loose alignment requirement, there is no limitation on cascaded PIF number. When 11 PIFs are cascaded, it can achieve 170-nm tuning range, -50-dB crosstalk, bandpass width applicable to 25-GHz channel spacing and 1 dB insert loss.  相似文献

对由环境引起的环程光程扰动对光纤环形腔的影响作了详细的理论分析,在扰动为各态历经扰动假设下的理论分析表明:小的慢与快变化扰动的影响是不同的。慢变化扰动影响与人射光时间相干性相同,使有效带宽增大;而快变化扰动对有效带宽的影响很小。然而对大的慢或快变化扰动,都会使环形腔失去它的带通和带阻特性。实验结果证实了一结论。  相似文献

A longer laser resonator length is benefit for laser linewidth, but harmful for single-frequency operation. A novel way is suggested to narrow the bandwidth of a Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity through increasing the derivative of one round-trip phase shift with respect to the frequency. It can be implemented by replacing one of two FP mirrors with a Gires-Tournois etalon (GTE), called FPCT, as a dispersion element. FPGT resonator has additional axial modes due to the GTE reflection phase shift. Theoretical analyses show that the bandwidth of additional axial modes can be 1% of that of a conventional FP cavity. A distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode can employ FPGT resonator to achieve ultra-narrow linewidth laser. It is shown that the effect of refractivity fluctuation in the gain medium on the linewidth is little, and kilohertz linewidth is achievable for such a device.  相似文献

A resonator fiber optic gyro with the light time-division input and multiplexing output(TDM-RFOG)in the clockwise(CW)and counterclockwise(CCW)directions is proposed.The light time-division input in the CW and CCW directions can effectively suppress the backscattering induced noise.The TDM-RFOG is implemented with the 2×2 Mach–Zehnder interferometer(MZI)optical switch.The response time of the fiber ring resonator is analyzed,and it is demonstrated by experiments that light time-division input in the CW and CCW directions can reduce the backscattering induced noise.The suppression effectiveness of backscattering induced noise in the TDM-RFOG is determined by the extinction ratio of the optical switch,so a closed loop is designed to adjust the phase shift difference between the two arms of the MZI optical switch to control the extinction ratio.The method using two arms of the MZI optical switch with twin 90°polarization-axis rotated splices is proposed to make the extinction ratio along both slow and fast axes greater than-70 d B.  相似文献

讨论了光湖源的谱分布和线宽对无源光纤环形腔的有效精细度(线宽)的影响,对两种典型的谱分布,光源给出了有效精细度(线宽)与入射光线宽之间的定量关系,分析表明,洛伦兹型光源对有效精细度的影响比高斯型大,而且对洛伦兹型光源,有效线宽总是大于入射光的线宽。  相似文献

针对光纤陀螺受外界环境,主要是温度影响,提出了一种控制相位调制器长期漂移的方法。用数字光纤陀螺的第二个反馈回路来控制相位调制通道的增益,尤其是2π复位来控制相位调制器相应的长期漂移。在-40°C~60°C,将标度因子的稳定性控制在0.000 4以内。在陀螺解调电路中采用FPGA进行数字信号处理,实现了两级反馈环路。  相似文献

基于保偏光纤的琼斯矩阵,建立了保偏光纤线圈的Faraday非互易相移模型,利用该模型进行计算发现:线圈保偏光纤的慢轴与快轴的Faraday非互易相移大小近似相等,但符号相反。并进一步提出了偏振环行干涉型保偏光纤陀螺(PCPM-IFOG),它能使顺时针(CW)和逆时针(CCW)光在保偏光纤线圈中沿慢和快轴分别传输一次,因此顺时针和逆时针光总的Faraday非互易相移等于0,实现了Faraday非互易相移的完全抑制。500m保偏光纤线圈的偏振环行干涉型保偏光纤陀螺的实验结果显示其输出与地球磁场无关,而对于相同传感线圈的干涉型保偏光纤陀螺,当磁场方角发生变化时,陀螺有约±0.3°/h的Faraday零偏漂移。  相似文献
