1H NMR and LC-MS, commonly used metabolomics analytical platforms, were used to annotate the metabolites found in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) irrigated with four different treatments based on FA to AMD ratios, namely: control (0% AMD; tap water), 1:1 (50% AMD), 3:1 (75% AMD is 75% FA: AMD), and 100% AMD (untreated). The effects of stress on plants were illustrated by the primary metabolite shifts in the region from δH 0.0 to δH 4.0 and secondary metabolites peaks were prominent in the region ranging from δH 4.5 to δH 8.0. The 1:3 irrigation treatment enabled, in two potato cultivars, the production of significantly high concentrations of secondary metabolites due to the 75% FA: AMD content in the irrigation mixture, which induced stress. The findings suggested that 1:1 irrigation treatment induced production of lower amounts of secondary metabolites in all crops compared to crops irrigated with untreated acid mine drainage treatment and with other FA-treated AMD solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, active backstepping design technique is applied to achieve reduced-order hybrid combination synchronization and reduced-order projective hybrid combination synchronization of three chaotic systems consisting of: (i) two third-order chaotic Josephson junctions as drives and one second-order chaotic Josephson junction as response system; (ii) one third-order chaotic Josephson junction as the drive and two second-order chaotic Josephson junctions as the slaves. Numerical simulations are performed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the analytical results. Reduced-order combination synchronization has more valuable practical applications to information processing in physical, biological, and social systems than the normal one master system and one slave system synchronization scheme.  相似文献

Shigellosis is an important cause of worldwide morbidity and mortality among young children and old people for which treatment with antimicrobial agents is limited. Hence, the need for curative potentials obtainable from medicinal plants becomes inevitable. This study was carried out to assess the antibacterial potentials of crude methanolic extract of the stem bark of Acacia mearnsii against some selected bacteria of clinical importance in shigellosis. The bacteria were inhibited by the extract to produce concentration dependent inhibition zones. The extract exhibited a varied degree of antibacterial activity against all the tested isolates. The MIC values for Gram negative (0.0391-0.3125) mg/mL and those of Gram positive bacteria (0.0781-0.625) mg/mL indicated that the Gram negative bacteria were more inhibited by the extract than the Gram positive bacteria. Average log reduction in viable cell count in time-kill assay ranged between -2.456 Log?? to 2.230 Log?? cfu/mL after 4 h of interaction, and between -2.921 Log?? and 1.447 Log?? cfu/mL after 8 h interaction in 1× MIC and 2× MIC of the extract. The study provided scientific justification for the use of the crude methanolic extract from the stem bark of A. mearnsii in shigellosis. The degree of the antibacterial activity indicated that the crude extract is a potential source of bioactive compounds that could be useful for the development of new antimicrobial agents capable of decreasing the burden of drug resistance and cost of management of diseases of clinical and public health importance in South Africa.  相似文献

We have demonstrated simultaneous correction for the optical interference of skin and fat in tissue spectra by using a two-distance fiber-optic probe. We obtained the correction by orthogonalizing the spectra collected at a long source-detector distance (SD) to the spectra collected at a short SD and mapped to the long SD space. The method was validated in tissuelike three-layer phantoms as well as preliminarily in human tissue. After the correction, a partial-least-squares model of the phantoms showed enhanced prediction performance.  相似文献

Summary In this paper we introduce the concept of p-th-order conditional stability and boundedness for ordinary differential equations in Banach spaces. Using vector Lyapunov functions and the comparison technique we give sufficient conditions for p-th-order conditional stability and boundedness properties of the abstract differential equation. The synchronization dynamics of two linearly coupled pendula is studied in this paper. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory and Linear matrix inequality (LMI); some necessary and sufficient conditions for global asymptotic synchronization are derived from which an estimated threshold coupling kth, for the on-set of full synchronization is obtained. The numerical value of kth determined from the average energies of the systems is in good agreement with theoretical analysis. Prior to the on-set of synchronization, the boundary crisis of the chaotic attractor is identified. In the bistable states, where two asymmetric periodic attractors co-exist, it is shown that the coupled pendula can attain multistable states via a new dynamical transition—the basin crisis that occur prior to the on-set of stable synchronization. The essential feature of basin crisis is that the two co-existing attractors are destroyed while new three or more co-existing attractors of the same or different periodicity are created. In addition, the linear perturbation technique and the Routh-Hurwitz criteria are employed to investigate the stability of steady states, and clearly identify the different types of bifurcations likely to be encountered. Finally, two-parameter phase plots, show various regions of chaos, hyperchaos and periodicity.  相似文献

This study assessed the groundwater quality around two municipal solid waste landfill sites, in the city of Bloemfontein, Free State Province, South Africa. The two landfill sites are located in two contrasting geological terrains, with both lacking some basic facilities found in a well-designed landfill. A total of eight groundwater samples were collected from pollution monitoring boreholes near the two landfill sites, with five samples representing the northern landfill site and three samples representing the southern landfill site. The samples were collected in the autumn and winter seasons to assess any possible seasonal variations. They were analysed for physicochemical (pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolve solids (TDS), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC)) and microbiological parameters (Escherichia coli, total coliform). The results of the analysis showed that the waters from both landfills were generally dominated by Ca, Mg, SO4, and HCO3 ions. Some of the major anions and cations in the water samples were above the South African National Standard (SANS241:2015) and World Health Organisation (WHO) permissible limits for drinking water. Majority of the boreholes had total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity values exceeding the SANS 241:2015 and WHO permissible limits. Piper trilinear plots for the two landfill sites showed that Ca(Mg)HCO3 water type predominates, but Ca(Mg)SO4 and Ca(Mg)Cl were also found. These water types were further confirmed with expanded Durov diagrams, indicating that that the boreholes represented a water type that is seldom found which is undergoing ion exchange, typical of sulphate contamination. From the SAR diagrams, boreholes in the northern landfill site had a high salinity hazard with only one borehole in the southern landfill site having a high salinity hazard. The geology was found to play a significant role in the distribution of contaminants into the groundwater systems in the study area. The study concluded that the northern landfill site had a poorer water quality in comparison to the southern landfill site based on the analysed physicochemical parameters. However, the southern landfill site showed significant microbial contamination, due to the elevated amount of E. coli and total coliform concentrations. The high permeability of the weathered dolerites in the northern landfill site might have enabled the percolation of contaminants into the groundwater resulting in the poorer water quality.  相似文献
