In this paper the steady-state behavior of a closed queueing network with multiple classes and large populations is investigated. One of the two nodes of the network simply introduces random delays and the discipline in the other node is discriminatory processor sharing. The network is not product-form, so not even the steady-state behavior is known. We assume that the usage is moderately heavy, and obtain two-term asymptotic approximations to the mean number of jobs, and the mean sojourn time, of each class of jobs in the processor node. We also obtain the leading term in the asymptotic approximation to the joint distribution of the number of jobs in the processor node, which is a zero-mean multivariate Gaussian distribution around a line through the origin.  相似文献

The E ? Z photoisomerization of the title compound (UA) (a naturally occurring sunscreen) has been studied in aqueous solution. At a UA concentration of 6mM and using 313nm excitation, φE→z= 0.52, φZ→E= 0.47 and the photostationary state is 34% E. Under these conditions, loss of UA is minimal. Low energy triplet quenchers fail to impede the isomerization, but the reaction can be induced by several triplet sensitizers. The ET for UA is estimated to be approximately 55 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The ionization potentials were calculated for Be using the extended Koopmans' theorem (EKT ) using several full configuration interaction (CI ) and multiconfigurational-self-consistent-field (MCSCF ) wave functions as reference wave functions. The wave functions used account for 89.7–96.7% of the correlation energy. Comparisons are made with experimental values and with δCI values calculated as the difference in energy obtained from CI wave functions for Be and Be+. The best EKT IP differed from the δCI value by 0.0003 eV for the lowest IP and by 0.0006 eV for ionization into the lowest 2P state of Be+. A calculation of ionization into the second 2P state of Be+ requires diffuse orbitals that are unimportant in the wave function for the ground state of Be. This results in small natural orbital occupation numbers for natural orbitals needed in the EKT calculation. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The photochemistry of the title compound has been studied in the gas phase using 254-nm irradiation. In addition to meta cycloadducts analogous to those observed in solution, population of S1(vib) in the gas phase gives several products, the relative amounts of which depend on quencher gas pressure but not on excitation wavelength. For example, in the absence of butane, the major photoproduct is compound 5. This product is formed by a [1,5] hydrogen shift in the primary photoproduct, compound 4. Compound 4 is an intramolecular meta cycloadduct that is generated in the gas phase with sufficient excess vibrational energy to undergo rearrangement unless quencher gas is present. Likewise, there is evidence that two other meta cycloadducts (2 and 3) are also formed with appreciable vibrational energy in the absence of a quencher gas. A unique intramolecular ortho cycloadduct is also formed from 1 but only within a narrow range of quencher gas pressures. This is a two-photon product, with the initial cycloadduct (11) ring opening to a cyclooctatriene (12) that photochemically closes to 6. The pressure dependence of this ortho cycloaddition may be due to a requirement for vibrational deactivation of 11 (Scheme 5) or a precursor species (Scheme 6). Measurements of the specific heat of two alloys of Ce (0.00275 and 0.0121 at % Ce) in Al have been made in the region 0.3<T<3.8 K. Within the limits of detection (<1 ppm), the alloys contained no metallic impurities other than Ce and their homogeneity was checked by neutron activation analysis. For the alloys in their normal electronic states, the change/c was found to be 6±3 and 3.5±1.5mJ/at% K2. The behavior of the alloys in their superconducting states (e.g.: the shift ofT c with the concentration of Ce; the correlation betweenT C/TC0 andC/C 0) indicates the existence of short-lived local moments associated with the Ce impurities.  相似文献

The cross section for coherent production of a single π? meson in charged current antineutrino interactions on neon nuclei has been measured in BEBC to be (175±25) 10?40 cm2/neon nucleus, averaged over the energy spectrum of the antineutrino wide band beam at the CERN SPS; this corresponds to (0.9±0.1) % of the total charged current \(\bar v_\mu \) cross section. The distributions of kinematical variables are in agreement with theoretical predictions based on the PCAC hypothesis and the meson dominance model; in particular, theQ 2 dependence is well described by a propagator containing a massm=(1.35±0.18) GeV. The absolute value of the cross section is also in agreement with the model. This analysis thus provides a test of the PCAC hypothesis in the antineutrino energy range 5–150 GeV.  相似文献

Evidence is presented for diffractive production of -mesons and of -systems invp and chargedcurrent interactions. In the (anti-)neutrino energy range 10 GeVE v <60 gev=" the=" cross=" sections=" for=" diffractive="> and diffractive production are found to be (0.64±0.14 (stat.)±0.08 (syst.))% and (0.28±0.08 (stat.)±0.04 (syst.))% of the charged-current cross section. The diffractive signal is consistent with being entirely due to diffractivea 1 production. However, the data cannot distinguish between diffractivea 1 and diffractive nonresonant production. The experimental distributions ofW, Q 2,x Bj andy Bj for diffractive and events are consistent with model predictions.  相似文献

Demonstration of continuously tunable delay, low‐noise lasers, dynamically controlled gratings, and optical phase shifting using the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) process has lead to the emergence of SBS as a promising technology for microwave photonics. On‐chip realization of SBS enables photonic integration of microwave photonic signal processing and offers significantly enhanced performance and improved efficiency. On‐chip stimulated Brillouin scattering is reviewed in the context of slow‐light based tunable delay, low‐noise narrow linewidth lasers and filtering for integrated microwave photonics. A discussion on key material and device properties, necessary to enable on‐chip Brillouin scattering using both the single‐pass and resonator geometry, is presented along with an outlook for photonic integration of microwave signal processing and generation in other platforms.  相似文献
