Reactions of Some Terpenes and Their Derivatives with Acylating Agents in the Presence of Aluminosilicate Catalysts

Reactions of camphene, -fenchene, limonene, caryophyllene, - and -pinenes, verbenol, walterol, and verbenone with acylating agents in the presence of clay K-10 and wide-porous -zeolite were studied. Presumable schemes and rules of the occurring processes were considered.     

Dependence of Fluorescence Properties of Compounds from Psoralen,Angelicin, and Carbazole Series on the Character of Their Terminal Substituents

Absorption, luminescence excitation and emission spectra of nine compounds from 4,8,4'-trimethylpsoralen, 4,4'-dimethylangelicin, and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole series with various terminal substituents were studied in water and 2-propanol. Proceeding from the data obtained in the present and also some previous studies we have formulated the main rules concerning a general mechanism of changes in the fluorescence characteristics of DNA-specific dyes depending on their chemical structure, substrate properties, and measurement medium.     

Theq-harmonic oscillator and the Al-Salam and Carlitz polynomials

One more model of aq-harmonic oscillator based on theq-orthogonal polynomials of Al-Salam and Carlitz is discussed. The explicit form ofq-creation andq-annihilation operators,q-coherent states and an analog of the Fourier transformation are established. A connection of the kernel of this transform with a family of self-dual biorthogonal rational functions is observed.     

The suppression of magnetic level coincidences in tilted magnetic fields in the HgTe quantum well as a consequence of electronic phase transitions under quantum hall effect conditions

Spin level coincidences in the HgTe quantum well observed in comparatively weak tilted magnetic fields were found to transform into anticrossings, and gaps formed in anticrossings nonmonotonically depended on the level filling factor. This behavior was indicative of phase transitions into a quantum Hall ferromagnet state.

Novel Tdp1 Inhibitors Based on Adamantane Connected with Monoterpene Moieties via Heterocyclic Fragments

Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase 1 (Tdp1) is a promising target for anticancer therapy due to its ability to counter the effects topoisomerase 1 (Top1) poison, such as topotecan, thus, decreasing their efficacy. Compounds containing adamantane and monoterpenoid residues connected via 1,2,4-triazole or 1,3,4-thiadiazole linkers were synthesized and tested against Tdp1. All the derivatives exhibited inhibition at low micromolar or nanomolar concentrations with the most potent inhibitors having IC₅₀ values in the 0.35–0.57 µM range. The cytotoxicity was determined in the HeLa, HCT-116 and SW837 cancer cell lines; moderate CC₅₀ (µM) values were seen from the mid-teens to no effect at 100 µM. Furthermore, citral derivative 20c, α-pinene-derived compounds 20f, 20g and 25c, and the citronellic acid derivative 25b were found to have a sensitizing effect in conjunction with topotecan in the HeLa cervical cancer and colon adenocarcinoma HCT-116 cell lines. The ligands are predicted to bind in the catalytic pocket of Tdp1 and have favorable physicochemical properties for further development as a potential adjunct therapy with Top1 poisons.     

Novel schemes for the synthesis of pyrrolocoumarins
