The subject of this investigation is to study the buckling of orthotropic cylindricalthin shells under torsion,which is a power function of time.The dynamic stability and compati-bility equations are obtained first.These equations are subsequently reduced to a time dependentdifferential equation with variable coefficient by using Galerkin's method.Finally,the critical dy-namic and static loading,the corresponding wave numbers,the dynamic factors,critical time andcritical impulse are found analytically by applying the Ritz type variational method.Using thoseresults,the effects of the variations of the power of time in the torsion load expression,of theloading parameter,the ratio of the Young's moduli and the ratio of the radius to thickness onthe critical parameters are studied numerically.It is observed that these factors have appreciableeffects on the critical parameters of the problem in the heading.  相似文献

In this paper, the modified Young??s moduli in both directions are obtained for the two-dimensional single crystal body with a square lattice by using the continuum approach of continuum mechanics and taking into account only the interaction of neighboring atoms. Separately, an expression is obtained taking into account the linear defects such as vacancies. The values of effective Young??s moduli compared with the same values for an infinite crystal lattice. Analyses show that the influences of scale effects and vacancies on the Young??s moduli are considerable. In addition, it is shown that the effective Young??s moduli have three components: the macroscopic value; factors determining the scale effect; factors determining the vacancy. The last component is analogous to the parameter of the damage of the theory of fracture.  相似文献

In this study, the torsional vibration and stability problems of functionally graded (FG) orthotropic cylindrical shells in the elastic medium, using the Galerkin method was investigated. Pasternak model is used to describe the reaction of the elastic medium on the cylindrical shell. Mixed boundary conditions are considered. The material properties and density of the orthotropic cylindrical shell are assumed to vary exponentially in the thickness direction. The basic equations of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell under the torsional load resting on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are derived. The expressions for the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell resting on elastic foundations are obtained. The effects of variations of shell parameters, the exponential factor characterizing the degree of material gradient, orthotropy, foundation stiffness and shear subgrade modulus of the foundation on the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter are examined.  相似文献

This paper is the result of an investigation on the vibration of non-homogeneous orthotropic cylindrical shells, based on the shear deformation theory. Assume that the Young’s moduli, shear moduli and density of the orthotropic material are continuous functions of the coordinate in the thickness direction. The basic equations of non-homogeneous orthotropic cylindrical shells with the shear deformation and rotary inertia are derived in the framework of Donnell-type shell theory. The ends of a non-homogeneous orthotropic cylindrical shell are considered as simply supported. The basic equations are reduced to the sixth-order algebraic equation for the frequency using the Galerkin method. Solving this algebraic equation, the lowest values of non-dimensional frequency parameters for non-homogeneous orthotropic cylindrical shells with and without shear deformation and rotary inertia are obtained. Calculations, effects of shear stresses and rotary inertia, orthotropy, non-homogeneity and shell geometry parameters on the lowest values of non-dimensional frequency parameter are described. The results are verified by comparing the obtained values with those in the existing literature.  相似文献

In this paper an analytical procedure is given to study the free vibration and stability characteristics of homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated and complete conical shells with clamped edges under uniform external pressures. The non-homogeneous orthotropic material properties of conical shells vary continuously in the thickness direction. The governing equations according to the Donnell’s theory are solved by Galerkin’s method and critical hydrostatic and lateral pressures and fundamental natural frequencies have been found analytically. The appropriate formulas for homogeneous orthotropic and isotropic conical shells and for cylindrical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Several examples are presented to show the accuracy and efficiency of the formulation. The closed-form solutions are verified by accurate different solutions. Finally, the influences of the non-homogeneity, orthotropy and the variations of conical shells characteristics on the critical lateral and hydrostatic pressures and natural frequencies are investigated, when Young’s moduli and density vary together and separately. The results obtained for homogeneous cases are compared with their counterparts in the literature.  相似文献
