The influence of interatomic distances on magnetic ordering in RMnSi compounds (R=La, Y, Sm, and Gd)

Magnetic ordering in the RMnSi (R=La, Y, Sm, and Gd) compounds is investigated. It is found that the type of magnetic ordering depends on the d Mn-Mn distance between manganese atoms inside the magnetic layers located in the planes perpendicular to the c axis. This inference is based on the results of studies performed with SmMnSi and GdMnSi compounds in which the distances between manganese atoms are close to the critical value d Mn-Mn that corresponds to the crossover between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic ordering in RMnSi compounds. The introduction of lanthanum and yttrium atoms into the rare-earth sublattice leads to an increase and a decrease in the unit cell size, respectively, and brings about magnetic phase transitions in the compounds under investigation. 相似文献

The structure of neutron-rich beryllium isotopes has been investigated using different heavy-ion-induced transfer reactions. In neutron transfer reactions, the population of final states shows a strong sensitivity to the chosen core nucleus, i.e., the target nuclei 9Be or 10Be, respectively. Molecular rotational bands up to high excitation energies are observed with 9Be as the core due to its pronounced 2α-cluster structure, whereas only a few states at low excitation energies are populated with 10Be as the core. For 11Be, a detailed investigation has been performed for the three states at 3.41, 3.89, and 3.96 MeV, which resulted in the most probable spin-parity assignments 3/2+, 5/2?, and 3/2?, respectively. Furthermore, we have studied particle-hole states of 16C using the 13C(12C, 9C)16C reaction and found 14 previously unknown states. The numerical prediction of the fields of inelastic strains (the linear invariant of the tensor of inelastic strains) in thermoset polyester/marble filler composite plates is discussed. A uniformly distributed load is applied to the plates, which lie on a steel base. The strain fields are predicted by means of the boundary element method by using creep test data for the composites and the polyester matrix itself. Identical creep tests were performed for two ages of the materials (1 month and 13 years), which allowed evaluating the aging effect. The study is carried out in two stages. At the first stage, the application of the generalized Maxwell-Gurevich equation to the thermoset matrix/mineral filler composite is demonstrated. The model parameters determined from the experimental creep data is used for the second stage, where the state of inelastic strains in the plates is predicted by applying the boundary element method. Results of measuring the monochromatic sound field with a dipping probe in the deep ocean are presented. The sound speed profile in the region of measurements had a minimum at a depth of 1600 m. The experiment was carried out in the Atlantic Ocean with the use of two vessels separated by a distance of approximately four ray cycles (~240 km). The experimental data are compared with the calculations based on a new concept of the Brillouin waves for describing the vertical structure of the sound field produced by rays. It is shown that a satisfactory agreement between experiment and calculation can be achieved by fitting the parameters of the experiment. Such a procedure allows one to refine or even to determine the experimental conditions, which not are always known. The proposed method of calculation offers an opportunity for solving inverse problems of ocean acoustics. 相似文献

Water‐soluble poly(ester‐carbonate) having pendent amino and carboxylic groups on the main‐chain carbon is reported for the first time. This article describes the melt ring‐opening/condensation reaction of trans‐4‐hydroxy‐N‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐L ‐proline (N‐CBz‐Hpr) with 5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MBC) at a wide range of molar fractions. The influence of reaction conditions such as catalyst concentration, polymerization time, and temperature on the number average molecular weight (Mn) and molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of the copolymers was investigated. The polymerizations were carried out in bulk at 110 °C with 3 wt % stannous octoate as a catalyst for 16 h. The poly(ester‐carbonate)s obtained were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, and gel permeation chromatography. The copolymers synthesized exhibited moderate molecular weights (Mn = 6000–14,700 g mol?1) with reasonable molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn = 1.11–2.23). The values of the glass‐transition temperature (Tg) of the copolymers depended on the molar fractions of cyclic carbonate. When the MBC content decreased from 76 to 12 mol %, the Tg increased from 16 to 48 °C. The relationship between the poly(N‐CBz‐Hpr‐co‐MBC) Tg and the compositions was in approximation with the Fox equation. In vitro degradation of these poly(N‐CBz‐Hpr‐co‐MBC)s was evaluated from weight‐loss measurements and the change of Mn and Mw/Mn. Debenzylation of 3 by catalytic hydrogenation led to the corresponding linear poly(ester‐carbonate), 4 , with pendent amino and carboxylic groups. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The results of experimental investigation into the mechanical properties of blends of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) in tension are presented. The specimens of pure LDPE, CPE, and nine types of LDPE/CPE blends, with different content of components at 10 wt.% intervals, were examined. Data on the influence of blend composition on the tensile stress-strain diagram, elastic modulus, yield stress, breaking stress, and ultimate elongation are obtained. The results of investigations of creep are also reported. Crystals of new rare earth borates of the composition Ln[B6O9 (OH)3] (Ln = Sm-Lu), sp. gr. R3c are synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Their crystal structures are determined on single crystals with Ln = Ho, Gd without preliminary determination of their chemical formulas. The polar anionic framework of the crystals consists
of BO3 triangles and BO4 tetrahedra and has wide channels along the threefold axis of the structure, which are similar to the channels along the a, b, and c axes in cubic Li4[B7O12]Cl boracite with Li conductivity. Rare earth atoms are arranged in the structure over the cubic F pseudolattice, whereas
the analogous positions in Li boracites are filled with Cl anions. The squared optical nonlinearity of the new crystals is
comparable with the nonlinearity of quartz, whereas the electrical conductivity in borates at 300°C exceeds 10−6 S/cm.
