Abstract The phonon-mediated resistivity is calculated for metallic carbon nanotubes based on a continuum model for electrons and phonons. In armchair nanotubes, only twisting modes contribute to the resistivity, while both stretching and breathing modes are important in zigzag nanotubes. The resistivity shows chirality dependence at low temperatures where breathing modes are not populated but becomes independent of the chirality at high temperatures. 相似文献

Myotonic dystrophy (MyD) is a neuromuscular disease that is autosomal dominant and the most common form of muscular dystrophy affecting adults. The clinical features of MyD include a multisystemic disorder characterized by myotonia, progressive muscle weakness and wasting, cataracts, premature balding and mental retardation. The most severe type of MyD is classified as congenital MyD (CMyD). The muscle weakness in CMyD is very severe, but muscle development can be observed in the period of growth. However, no clinical case of this type has been reported yet. Therefore, we report on a girl with CMyD who had an increase in muscle strength over a four-year period. The girl with CMyD participated in this study from the age of 9 to the age of 12. The measurement of muscle strength was recorded as the maximum score of grip strength with the use of dynamometers. Grip strength was assessed once a year by the same two physical therapists. Grip strength of CMyD for each year was markedly weak when compared with the normal controls, but muscle strength changed within some specific growth areas. The muscle weakness in CMyD was remarkable, but the result showed that specific muscle strength of CMyD in childhood was actually increased. 相似文献

A diagnostic system using short-wavelength far-infrared (FIR) lasers (40–70 m in wavelength) is now being developed for high density and large volume plasmas. In the wavelength region, a CVD-diamond is the excellent materials for optical windows of the laser and the plasma vessel and beam splitters of a multichannel interferometer. To design these optical elements, the optical constants (refractive index n, absorption coefficient and transmissivity T) of the CVD-diamond have been measured precisely by using FIR lasers of 48-, 57- and 71-m in wavelength. As an example, the result for 57.1511 m light is n = 2.383(1) ± 0.002, = 0.19 ± 0.05 cm-1 and T = 97.5 ± 1.5% at 1.023 mm in thickness. 相似文献

Coarse control and fine control of the resonant frequency of a loop-gap resonator (LGR) operating at an electron paramagnetic
resonance (EPR) frequency of ca. 650 MHz were achieved using a single-turn coil with a varactor diode attached (a frequency
shift coil). When the distance between the LGR and the frequency shift coil was changed from 15 to 10 mm under the condition
of constant voltage to the varactor diode (0 V), a shift of the resonant frequency of the LGR of ca. 20 MHz was observed (coarse
frequency control). When the voltage applied to the varactor diode was changed from 0 to 15 V at the same distance between
the LGR and the frequency shift coil (10 mm), a shift of the resonant frequency of the LGR of ca. 200 kHz was observed (fine
frequency control). There were no significant changes in sensitivity of EPR measurements of a phantom (comprised of agar with
a nitroxide radical and physiological saline solution) without and with the frequency shift coil. The EPR sensitivity did
not change discernibly when the resonant frequency was shifted by the frequency shift coil. Furthermore, radio-frequency phase
adjustment for homodyne detection could be performed by using the frequency shift coil without applying frequency modulation

The different technical approaches are considered mostly to compare the accuracy attainable in microwaves to Far IR where
new resonant tchniques have been developped. It is possible to use the fringes of the observed spectra to get directly the
London penetration length. However in the present state of the Art there is more accuracy to use a two-fluid model with at
least one Mid-IR oscillator, and a strategy is possible to fit separately the different parameters. The different results
are reviewed and compared to the microwaves data. There is a good accordance, except perhaps for the power law-giving the
concentration of quasiparticles in the superconductive phase. For a thin film of YBCO devoid of grain-boundaries (no twins),
a θ4 law is found instead of a θ1.5 law for an ordinary film. It should be highly valuable that both microwaves and Far-IR data should be taken on the same sample.

A signal detector of longitudinally detected ESR (LODESR) is independent of the resonant frequency. We developed anin vivoLODESR spectrometer operating in the regions of 300, 700, and 900 MHz. Using this apparatus, we estimated signal intensities at different operating frequencies obtained from non- or high-dielectric loss phantoms that contained nitroxide radical solutions and from live rats that had received a nitroxide radical. Our result, higher signal intensities in the high-dielectric loss samples (such as physiological saline solution and animals) at a lower frequency, shows that the influence of a decrease in dielectric loss dominates over the signal reduction caused by smaller Zeeman splitting. We believe that this finding strongly supports anin vivoESR resonant frequency that tends to be low. 相似文献

Ramelteon (TAK-375) is a novel melatonin receptor agonist that is used for clinical treatment of insomnia. The present report describes radiolabeling of ramelteon with the short-lived positron-emitter 11C (T(1/2)=20.4 min) by 2 methods. One method was [11C]methylation of an acetoamide precursor and the other was [11C]acylation of the corresponding amine precursor. First, [11C]methylation method showed the low reproducibility together with the production of many kinds of side products from which the [11C-methyl]Ramelteon was separated with chemical purity of <28% and radiochemical purity of >98%. Whereas, the [11C]acylation method showed high efficiency and reproducibility with a good radiochemical yield (22-43%, decay corrected), high chemical and radiochemical purities (>99% each), and high specific activity (43-162 GBq/μmol) (n=5) after HPLC purification. [11C]Ramelteon is a potential positron emission tomography (PET) probe for imaging the melatonin receptor. 相似文献

An active resonator system operating at 700 MHz, which can attain a high Q for CW-ESR measurements of a high loss sample, was developed. This system consisted of a loop-gap resonator (LGR), a receiver coil, an excitation coil, and a phase tunable amplifier. A part of the RF power at the LGR was picked up by the receiver coil, amplified, and irradiated to the LGR again by the excitation coil, which made up a feedback circuit. Because the feedback circuit provided the energy that canceled the loss in the resonator, the Q of the active resonator system increased. When a sample tube (inner diameter, 20 mm; axial length, 31 mm) containing a nitroxide radical and physiological saline solution was placed in the resonator, the Q could be varied from 55 to 4000. It was possible to obtain a Q of the active resonator system with sample that was higher than that of the value of the LGR without a sample in a no-feedback condition. The ESR signal intensity increased up to 7 times with the increase in Q. The sensitivity increased up to 50%, which was a much smaller advance than that of the Q, because the noise level also increased with the increase in signal intensity. 相似文献
