The weakly coupled 15N atoms around a reduced Rieske [2Fe-2S] cluster of the uniformly 15N-labeled, hyperthermostable archaeal Rieske protein appear to produce readily observable cross-peaks in the HYSCORE spectra, with the well-resolved couplings of 0.3-0.4 MHz for the Nepsilon and 1.1 MHz for the peptide backbone nitrogens, in addition to the contributions from the coordinated Ndelta atoms. These features can be used for structure-mechanism studies of the biological redox protein system involving the weakly coupled nitrogens in coupled electron-proton transfer reactions. 相似文献

The optical properties of reaction systems composed from a pseudoisocyanine (PIC) solution and dispersed layered silicates were studied using visible spectroscopy. Two series of reduced-charge montmorillonites were used as the silicate materials. Each series consisted of eight samples with different layer charges, which were prepared from one parent material. Observed trends were verified with another series of dioctahedral and trioctahedral smectites of different layer charges, structure, and origin. The layer charge density of the silicates significantly affected the aggregation of PIC cations. In addition to the formation of J-aggregates, dye spectral bleaching was also observed. Silicates with very low charge densities induced neither significant aggregation nor spectral bleaching of the dye. The highest levels of PIC J-aggregate formation were found in dispersions of the layered silicates with a medium surface charge. However, reversible spectral bleaching was also observed in some cases. PIC dye cations probably change their conformations during the adsorption process, due to the tension resulting from the large size of the cations and the relatively high charge density at the silicate surface. The bleached dye recovers, at least partially, with the rearrangement and redistribution of the dye cations over the time. In contrast, the presence of silicates with very high charge densities (synthetic taeniolite and fluorohectorite) led to the very fast and irreversible decomposition of the PIC. Perhaps, the tension in adsorbed dye cations, induced by the high charge density at the silicate surface, resulted in significant destabilization and a decomposition reaction of the chromophore. 相似文献

Reduction of oxidized gold nanoclusters by exposures to foreign gases and irradiation of UV photons has been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Gold nanoclusters with narrow size distributions protected by alkanethiolate ligands were deposited on a TiO2(1 1 0) surface with dip coating. Oxygen plasma etching was used for removal of alkanethiolate ligands and oxidization of gold clusters. The oxidized gold clusters were exposed to CO, C2H2, C2H4, H2, and hydrogen atoms. Although, C2H4 and H2 did not show any indications of reduction of oxidized gold clusters, CO, C2H2, and hydrogen atoms reduced the oxides on gold cluster surfaces. Among them, hydrogen atoms were most effective for reduction. Irradiation of UV photons around 400 nm could also reduce the oxidized gold clusters. The photochemical reduction mechanism was proposed as follows. The photo-reduction was initiated by electronic excitation of gold clusters and oxygen atoms activated reacted with carbon atoms at the surfaces of gold clusters. Carbon species were likely absorbed in gold clusters or remained at the boundaries between gold clusters when gold clusters agglomerated during oxygen plasma exposures. A facile new method that combines electrospray and hydrothermal treatment is used to prepare mesoporous core-shell TiO(2) spheres with high specific surface areas and high pore volumes. Interestingly, the resulting TiO(2) spheres are composed of anatase TiO(2) nanocrystals with exposed step-like {001} and smooth {010} facets. The percentage of exposed {001} facets can be adjusted by changing the experimental parameters used in the electrospray and hydrothermal treatment processes, such as the contents of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and acetic acid. The combination of high specific surface area (>100 m(2) g(-1)), high pore volume (>0.30 cm(3) g(-1)), useful pore size (10-15 nm), spherical core-shell structure, and exposed high energy facets makes these TiO(2) spheres an important candidate for use in many photoelectrochemical applications. The formation mechanism of the mesoporous TiO(2) spheres is also studied. The great advantage of this method is that interesting and complicated mesoporous superstructures can be prepared using electrospray technology. 相似文献

A method is described for the determination of traces of arsenic, based on sodium tetrahydroborate reduction of arsenic and introduction of the arsine formed to a relatively low-powered (1.6 kW) inductively-coupled plasma where the arsenic atomic emission is generated, Inter-element interference effects are described; many can be eliminated by addition of potassium iodide to the sample solutions, but the standard additions method is recommended for accurate arsenic determination. Potassium iodide is also used for prereducing arsenic(V) to arsenic(III). The method has a detection limit of 0.1 ng As ml-1 and the linear calibration range spans nearly four orders of magnitude. We have developed the advanced nitric acid oxidation of Si (NAOS) method to form relatively thick (5-10 nm) SiO2/Si structure with good electrical characteristics. This method simply involves immersion of Si in 68 wt% nitric acid aqueous solutions at 120 °C with polysilazane films. Fourier transform infrared absorption (FT-IR) measurements show that the atomic density of the NAOS SiO2 layer is considerably high even without post-oxidation anneal (POA), i.e., 2.28 × 1022 atoms/cm2, and it increases by POA at 400 °C in wet-oxygen (2.32 × 1022 atoms/cm2) or dry-oxygen (2.30 × 1022 atoms/cm2). The leakage current density is considerably low (e.g., 10−5 A/cm2 at 8 MV/cm) and it is greatly decreased (10−8 A/cm2 at 8 MV/cm) by POA at 400 °C in wet-oxygen. POA in wet-oxygen increases the atomic density of the SiO2 layer, and decreases the density of oxide fixed positive charges. 相似文献
