A thorough study of the polymerization behavior of 4‐fluoro‐4′‐hydroxytriphenyl‐phosphine oxide, 2 , under nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions has been carried out. The synthesis of 2 was achieved in excellent yields by the reaction of bis(4‐fluorophenyl)phenylphosphine oxide, 1 , with one equivalent of potassium hydroxide in DMSO/water. The structure and purity of 2 were confirmed via 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy along with elemental analysis. Polymerization reactions of 2 in NMP or DMSO at 180 °C provided the corresponding linear poly(arylene ether phosphine oxide)s, PAEPOs, with number average molecular weights, Mn, ranging from 11,700 to 36,500 Da. All of the polymer samples were completely soluble in chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, DMSO, NMP, and DMAc. The polymerization reactions were accompanied by a competing intramolecular process that resulted in the formation of cyclic oligomeric species that were removed via a final precipitation from methanol. Analysis using 31P NMR spectroscopy and size exclusion chromatography (SEC) confirmed that the majority of the lower molecular weight cyclic species were removed via this process. The polymer samples formed tough films when chloroform solutions were slowly evaporated on a glass slide. The PAEPO samples prepared in this study exhibited excellent thermal stability with Td (5%) values between 503 and 542 in air while the glass transition temperatures ranged from 223 to 237 °C. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The separation of propylene-propane mixture is an energy intensive operation commercially practiced using cryogenic distillation. The separation by pressure swing adsorption has been studied as an alternative. A fixed-bed pressure swing adsorption yields the heavy component as a pure product. The product recovery and the productivity are not high. In a moving-bed process, because of the counter-current solid-gas contact, the separation achieved is similar to that of the fractionation by distillation. Although the moving-bed operation offers the upper limit for the performance of a cyclic adsorptive process, due to mechanical complexities in the handling of solids the 'simulated' moving-bed is preferred. By moving the inlet and outlet ports of streams located along the length of the bed, a moving-bed process can be realized in a fixed bed. We describe here a 'moving-port' system which permits injection or withdrawal of the fluid along the axial direction in a fixed bed. A fixed bed embedded with the moving-port systems emulates a simulated moving-bed adsorber. The proposed adsorber can fractionate a binary gas mixture into two product streams with high purities. It is similar to the Sorbex process of UOP but does not have the eluent as an additional separating agent. A parametric study indicates that high purity products and a higher productivity by an order of magnitude can be achieved with simulated moving-beds compared to the fixed beds.  相似文献

The potential response of the platinum indicator electrode in the uncatalyzed bromate oscillator (UBO) with three different substrates, namely gallic acid (GA), pyrogallol (PG) and veratraldehyde (VA) has been analyzed. The large amplitude oscillations obtained with a Pt electrode are due to the sequential response of the indicator electrode to the varying concentration ratios of the redox couples present in the reaction mixture.  相似文献

A variety of metal complexes of 5,10,15-triphenyl-21-monooxa-corrole 4 have been investigated. This monooxa corrole, where one of the pyrrole ring is replaced by a furan moiety, is synthesized by the alpha-alpha coupling reaction of 16-oxa tripyrrane and dipyrromethane. The single crystal X-ray structure of 4 indicates only small deviation of the inner-core heteroatoms from planarity and this macrocycle arrange themselves into a columnar structure. Insertion of metals further flattens the corrole framework. Specifically, oxacorrole 4 binds to Nil(II), Cu(II), and Co(II) with the participation of all heteroatoms in the coordination. However, Rh(I) ion binds to only one imino and one amino nitrogen of the macrocycle. The bond angles at the metal center in the Ni(II) and Rh(I) complexes reveal square planar geometry completed by two CO molecules for Rh(I). The EPR spectra of the paramagnetic that Cu(II) and Col(II) complexes display significant decreases in the metal hyperfine couplings compared with the corresponding porphyrin complexes. The presence of superhyperfine coupling in the Cu(II) complex suggests delocalization of unpaired electron density into the ligand orbitals. Electrochemical studies reveal easier oxidations and harder reductions relative to the corresponding porphyrin derivatives while, the metallated derivatives did not show their characteristic metal reductions due to the high energy of their LUMO.  相似文献

The nature of the diperiodatocuprate(III) (DPC) species present in aqueous alkaline medium has been investigated by a kinetic and mechanistic study on the oxidation of iodide by DPC. The reaction kinetics were studied over the 1.0 × 10–3–0.1 mol dm–3 alkali range. The reaction order with respect to DPC, as well as iodide, was found to be unity when [DPC] [I]. In the 1.0 × 10–3–1.0 × 10–2 mol dm–3 alkali region, the rate decreased with increase in the alkali concentration and a plot of the pseudo-first order rate constant, k versus 1/[OH] was linear. Above 5.0 × 10–2 mol dm–3, a plot of k versus [OH] was also linear with a non-zero intercept. An increase in ionic strength of the reaction mixtures showed no effect on k at low alkali concentrations, whereas at high concentrations an increase in ionic strength leads to an increase in k. A plot of 1/k versus [periodate] was linear with an intercept in both alkali ranges. Iodine was found to accelerate the reaction at the three different alkali concentrations employed. The observed results indicated the following equilibria for DPC.[Cu(H2IO6)2]3- [Cu(H2IO6)]- + H2IO6 3- [Cu(H2IO6)] + OH- [Cu(HIO6)]- + H2OA suitable mechanism has been proposed on the basis of these equilibria to account for the kinetic results.  相似文献

Neutral half‐sandwich organometallic ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [(η6‐cymene)RuCl2(L)] ( H1 – H10 ), where L represents a heterocyclic ligand, have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically. The structures of five complexes were also established by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction confirming a piano‐stool geometry with η6 coordination of the arene ligand. Hydrogen bonding between the N? H group of the heterocycle and a chlorine atom attached to Ru stabilizes the metal–ligand interaction. Complexes coordinated to a mercaptobenzothiazole framework ( H1 ) or mercaptobenzoxazole ( H6 ) showed high cytotoxicity against several cancer cells but not against normal cells. In vitro studies have shown that the inhibition of cancer cell growth involves primarily G1‐phase arrest as well as the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The complexes are found to bind DNA in a non‐intercalative fashion and cause unwinding of plasmid DNA in a cell‐free medium. Surprisingly, the cytotoxic complexes H1 and H6 differ in their interaction with DNA, as observed by biophysical studies, they either cause a biphasic melting of the DNA or the inhibition of topoisomerase IIα activity, respectively. Substitution of the aromatic ring of the heterocycle or adding a second hydrogen‐bond donor on the heterocycle reduces the cytotoxicity.  相似文献

A new series of hydrogen bonded liquid crystal (HBLC) complexes, made up with substituted benzoic acids (BAs) and nonyloxy benzoic acid, viz., x-(p/m)BA:9OBAs are reported for x = F, Cl, Br and –CH3 substituted at para (p) or meta (m) positions of BA moiety. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectrum confirms the HBLC complex. Infra red (IR) spectrum confirms linear, double and complementary type of hydrogen bonding (HB) between x-(p/m)BAs and 9OBA. The liquid crystal (LC) phases are characterised by polarisation optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. x-(p/m)BA:9OBA exhibit N, C and G LC phase variance. HB induces tilted phases and enhances LC phase stability. The influence of configuration, size, electronegativity, electron directing capacity and inductive nature of substituent (x) is investigated for the stability of LC phases. An overview of the LC phase data indicates predominant ‘negative inductive effect’ in HBLCs with electron withdrawing substituents. Inductive effect operates effectively for para substitutions. Results are discussed in the wake of reports in other HBLCs.  相似文献

A novel series of piperazine-1,2,3-triazole bearing dimethyl(((2-(4-((1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-yl)methyl)piperazin-1-yl)ethylamino)(2-hydroxyaryl)methyl)phosphonate derivatives have been prepared via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) (Click Reaction) and Schiff base reactions. The synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral characterization (1H, 13C and 31P NMR, and mass). The title compounds were evaluated for in vitro alpha glucosidase enzyme inhibition and in vitro antioxidant activity using DPPH and H2O2 methods.  相似文献

Naturally occurring phytochemicals with reported antibacterial activity were screened for their ability to inhibit the bacterial cell division protein Escherichia coli FtsZ. Among the representative compounds, coumarins inhibit the GTPase and polymerization activities of this protein effectively. Further screening with ten coumarin analogs we identified two promising candidates, scopoletin and daphnetin. The former is found to inhibit the GTPase activity of the protein in a noncompetitive manner. Docking of these coumarins with the modeled protein indicate that they bind to T7 loop, which is different from the GTP-binding site (active site), thereby supporting the experimental data. Lowest binding energy is obtained with scopoletin. 3D QSAR indicates the need for groups such as hydroxyl, diethyl, or dimethyl amino in the 7th carbon for enhanced activity. None of the coumarins exhibited cytotoxicity against NIH/3T3 and human embryonic kidney cell lines. The length of Bacillus subtilis increases in the presence of these compounds probably due to the lack of septum formation. Results of this study indicate the role of coumarins in halting the first step of bacterial cell division process.  相似文献
