Monte Carlo simulations, in which the Schr?dinger equation is solved at each Monte Carlo sweep, are employed to assess the influence of magnetization fluctuations, short-range antiferromagnetic interactions, disorder, magnetic polaron formation, and spin-Peierls instability on the carrier-mediated Ising ferromagnetism in two-dimensional electronic systems. The determined critical temperature and hysteresis are affected in a nontrivial way by the antiferromagnetic interactions. The findings explain striking experimental results for modulation-doped p-Cd1-xMnxTe quantum wells.  相似文献

Motivated by recent experiments on the finite temperature Mott transition in VO(2) films, we propose a classical coarse-grained dielectric breakdown model where each degree of freedom represents a nanograin which transitions from insulator to metal with increasing temperature and voltage at random thresholds due to quenched disorder. We describe the properties of the resulting nonequilibrium metal-insulator transition and explain the universal characteristics of the resistance jump distribution. We predict that by tuning voltage, another critical point is approached, which separates a phase of boltlike avalanches from percolationlike ones.  相似文献

The flexibility of the structure of Prussian blue analogues and its ability to incorporate a variety of competing magnetic interactions have allowed the design of mixed ferro-ferrimagnets, which span the whole spectrum of magnetic behavior, including the rare phenomenon of magnetization reversal in response to a change in temperature. Hydrostatic pressure is used here to induce multiple reversals of the direction of the spontaneous magnetization in the trimetallic Prussian blue analogue, Rb0.64Ni0.31Mn0.87[Fe(CN)6].2.8H2O. Remarkably, the magnetic response is extremely sensitive to pressure, and the magnetization flips from positive to negative and back to positive in a very narrow pressure range (0 < P < 0.6 kbar). A further increase in pressure to 4.0 kbar induces an internal redox reaction, and the magnetic order switches from ferrimagnetic to bulk ferromagnetism.  相似文献

The effect of X-ray illumination on the structural properties of the mixed valence Prussian blue analogue CsFe(II)[Cr(III)(CN)6] has been studied by time-dependent high-resolution synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Abrupt isosymmetric phase transitions, accompanied by dramatic volume collapse, were found in the temperature range 245-265 K, induced by sudden Fe(II) spin transitions from the high spin (HS) (4t(2g)2e(g), S = 2) to the low spin (LS) (6t(2g)0e(g), S = 0) configuration. Absorption of X-ray photons generates photoexcited Fe(II)(LS) domains whose size rapidly grows with time until the percolation threshold is reached and the structure collapse is triggered. The persistent character of the optically excited spin crossover states derives from the strong electron-phonon coupling, associated with the large lattice relaxations, which accompany the internal spin rearrangements. It is thus possible to use X-ray light in a controllable and efficient way to induce photoswitching between the ground and hidden or inaccessible excited states in suitably selected multistable materials in the bulk.  相似文献

The performance of T(2)-weighted spin-echo version of echo planar imaging (SE_EPI), conventional spin echo (SE) and fat-suppressed turbo spin-echo (TSE_SPIR) sequences for the detection of focal liver lesions was evaluated. Twenty patients that were included in our study, had CT examinations prior to the MR study and were scheduled for surgery for removal of liver lesions. All patients had intraoperative sonographic examinations. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the images was performed. Overall image quality of SE_EPI sequences was better than SE (p<0.001) and similar to TSE_SPIR sequences. There were fewer motion and ghost artifacts on SE_EPI and TSE_SPIR images compared to SE images (p<0.001). Susceptibility artifacts were statistically equivalent on SE_EPI and SE images (p<0.001) while chemical shift artifacts were equally observed on SE and SE_EPI sequences. Overall image quality of EPI-SE and TSE_SPIR sequences was better compared to SE sequences. There was no significant difference in the number of lesions detected by each of the three sequences. Quantitative analysis showed that liver/lesion contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of liver, lesion, spleen was higher on TSE_SPIR sequences (p<0.001) while SE_EPI and SE sequences showed non-significant differences (p>0.05). SE_EPI sequences of the liver resulted in fewer artifacts and shorter acquisition times than SE sequences. They provide a diagnostic performance similar to TSE_SPIR and better than that of SE sequences.  相似文献

We investigate the importance of metal-induced gap states for the tunneling of metal electrons through epitaxial insulator films. By introducing an imaginary part kappa to the wave vector in order to describe the decay of the wave function in the insulator, we obtain the complex band structure in the gap region. The spectrum of the decay parameters kappa is calculated for the semiconductors Si, Ge, GaAs, and ZnSe. In most cases, for large enough film thicknesses the tunneling is dominated by states of normal incidence on the interface. Possible exceptions are considered. Based on our conclusions, we discuss the spin-dependent tunneling in Fe/semiconductor/Fe (001) junctions.  相似文献

We present first-principles calculations of hyperfine fields of heavy impurities in bcc Fe. In particular, the effect of lattice relaxations on the calculated hyperfine fields are studied. The calculations are based on a full-potential Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker Green's-function method for defects and employ the local spin-density approximation for the exchange and correlation effects. The calculated lattice relaxations around the 5sp and 6sp impurities in Fe are found to be relatively small, for the first and second nearest neighbor shells less than 6% of the nearest neighbor distance. Also the estimated relative volume changes induced by the sp impurities are found to be around 60–95% of the elementary volume of Fe, surprisingly small in view of the large atomic volumes of the impurities. The calculated hyperfine fields of 5sp and 6sp elements are compared with available experimental data and it is shown that the inclusion of lattice relaxations in the calculation improves the agreement with experiments.  相似文献
