Electrochemical modeling of the oxidative dehydrogenation of 1-phenyl-1H-3-methyl-6,7-dimethoxyisochromene

The electrochemical oxidation of 1-phenyl-1H-3-methyl-6,7-dimethoxyisochromene on a rotating platinum disk electrode with a ring in acetonitrile was investigated. Three one-electron waves are observed on the polarization curves of the disk electrode, and three cathode waves corresponding to reduction of the intermediates are recorded on the ring. The current decreases after the second wave, and this constitutes evidence for the occurrence of a subsequent chemical reaction. It was established that decomposition of the isochromene cation radical leads to the 3-methyl-6,7-dimethoxy-2-benzo-pyrylium ion, while decomposition of the dication leads to the 1-phenyl-3-methyl-6,7-dimethoxy-2-benzopyrylium ion, which is formed via an EEP scheme.Deceased.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 9, pp. 1177–1181, September, 1981.     

Interaction of Phosphorus Iminoilides with Metal Acetates. Crystal and Molecular Structure of Cu[(2-O–)(5-NO2)C6H3N–CH=CH–+PPh3]2 · 2CHCl3

The structure of the Cu[(2-O^–)(5-NO₂)C₆H₃N–CH=CH–⁺PPh₃]₂ complex with the CuN₂O₂ coordination core of distorted square-planar geometry was established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The molecules in the crystal structure of the Cu[(2-O^–)(5-NO₂)C₆H₃N–CH=CH–⁺PPh₃]₂ · 2CHCl₃ solvate are bound via hydrogen bonds of two types, namely, C(sp ²)–H···O and C(sp ³)–H···O.

Synthesis of 2-aryl-3,4,5,6-bis(trimethylene) pyrylium salts and the corresponding pyridine bases

2-Aryl-3,4,5,6-bis(trimethylene)pyrylium perchlorates were obtained by acylation of cyclopentylidenecyclopentanone with aromatic acid chlorides in the presence of anhydrous aluminum chloride with subsequent treatment with 70% perchloric acid. Theory of retardation of magnetic domain walls in rhombic magnetic materials

We calculate the retardation of a magnetic soliton describing a magnetic domain wall by using the generalized phenomenological theory of relaxation. We show that in this theory, based on the real dynamical symmetry of magnetic materials, the dissipation function has a different structure for high and low wall velocities. Finally, we calculate the viscous force of the wall in the Walker model and show that certain features, not discussed in the literature, emerge even when the generalized theory is applied to this simple model. In particular, the dependence of the viscous friction force on the wall velocity may be highly nonlinear and regions of unstable motion may appear. Zh. éksp. Teor. Crystal and Molecular Structure of Ph3P+-CH = CH-NHC6H3(2-O-)(4-NO2)

Treatment of [Ph₃P⁺-CH = CH-NHC₆H₃(2-OH)(4-NO₂)]Cl^- with ethanolic KOH leads to proton abstraction not from nitrogen, but from oxygen to give a betaine-type compound Ph₃P⁺-CH = CHNHC₆H₃ · (2-O^-)(4-NO₂). Its structure was proved by means of X-ray diffraction. The C = C distance [1.341(3) Å] unambiguously points to a double bond. Single crystals of the betaine are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c; unit cell parameters: a 9.028(4), b 14.066(6), and c 18.799(10) Å; 90, 76.23(4), and 90°. The unit cell contains two dimers bound by strong inter- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Previously published IR and ¹H NMR data do not contradict the betaine structure of the compound obtained.
