The thermogenic function of brown adipose tissue (BAT) is known to be markedly elevated when animals are exposed to the cold, and intensive studies have been carried out to understand the molecular basis enabling effective thermogenesis in cold-exposed animals. In this study, we used microarray analysis to examine the effects of cold exposure of animals on their gene expression profiles in white adipose tissue (WAT), which seems to function as a counterpart tissue of BAT. The results indicate that the effects of cold exposure on the gene expression profiles of WAT were much more moderate than the effects on those of BAT. Possible reasons for the different responses of BAT and WAT to cold exposure are discussed.  相似文献

Raman characteristics of carbon nitride films synthesized by nitrogen-ion-beam-assisted pulsed laser deposition were investigated. In addition to the D (disorder) band and G (graphitic) band commonly observed in carbon nitride films, two Raman bands located at 1080–1100 and 1465–1480 cm-1 were found from our carbon nitride films. These two bands were well matched with the predicted Raman frequencies for βC3N4 and the observed Raman bands reported for carbon nitride films, indicating their relation to carbon-nitrogen stretching vibrations. Furthermore, the relative intensity ratio of the two Raman bands to the D and G bands increased linearly with increasing nitrogen content of the carbon nitride films. Carbon nitride films with high nitrogen content were prepared by reactive pulsed-laser deposition at nitrogen partial pressures varying from 0.1 to 20.0 Torr. It was found that the nitrogen content in the films first increases with increase of the nitrogen pressure, reaches a maximum of 46 at. % at 5.0 Torr, and then decreases to 37 at. % at 20.0 Torr. The almost pure carbon nitride films were systematically characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) concerning the core-level and valence-band structures. Some fingerprint information, which shows the role of nitrogen in controlling the electronic structure of carbon nitride films, was found based on the XPS studies. With enhancing the nitrogen incorporation, both the binding energy and the peak intensity of the core-level and the valence-band spectra vary systematically as a function of nitrogen content in the films. We newly synthesized a series of homo- and hetero-tetracene (Tc) oligomers to propose a molecular design strategy for the efficient exciton transport in linear oligomers by promoting correlated triplet pair (TT) dissociation and controlling sequential exciton trapping process of individual doubled triplet excitons (T+T) by intramolecular singlet fission. First, entropic gain effects on the number of Tc units are examined by comparing Tc-homo-oligomers [(Tc)n: n=2, 4, 6]. Then, a comparison of (Tc)n and Tc-hetero-oligomer [TcF3-(Tc)4-TcF3] reveals the vibronic coupling effect for entropic gain. Observed entropic effects on the T+T formation indicated that the exciton migration is rationalized by number of possible TT states increased both by increasing the number of Tc units and by the vibronic levels at the terminal TcF3 units. Finally, we successfully observed high-yield exciton trapping process (trapped triplet yield: ΦTrT=176 %).  相似文献

The present paper deals with acoustical systems with an opening to semi-infinite space for sound radiation. The approach is a combination of the finite element method and the analytical method. The finite element approach is used for the hollow internal space, while the analytical approach is utilized for the open semi-infinite space. The semi-infinite space is expressed in terms of an integral with respect to the opening surface (Green's theorem). Compatibility conditions are then introduced for the interface boundary. The region to which the finite element analysis is to be applied is thus greatly reduced at the expense of additional numerical integration. A computer program is developed and, for numerical demonstration, calculations of some characteristics of conical and exponential horns, and of a practical speaker device with central post and silencers are considered. Comparisons with the measured results confirm the validity of the approach.  相似文献

New bioanalytical methods have been developed for the determination of imidafenacin (KRP-197/ONO-8025, IM), a novel antimuscarinic drug developed for the treatment of overactive bladder, and its metabolites, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-6 and M-8 (method 1), M-5 and M-9 (method 2) in human urine by using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. In each method, the urine sample was extracted by solid-phase extraction, separated on a semi-micro high-performance liquid chromatography column using gradient elution and detected by tandem mass spectrometer with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization or ionspray interface. Extraction recoveries of IM and metabolites were 81.4% or more. Calibration curves had good linearity in the concentration ranges 0.2-50 ng/mL for IM, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-6 and M-8 (method 1) and 1-250 ng/mL for M-5 and M-9 (method 2), respectively. The accuracy and precision in the intra-day and inter-day reproducibility tests were within +/-17.0 and 16.1% at the lowest concentrations, and within +/-12.8 and 11.1% at higher concentrations, respectively. Using these analytical methods, excretion profiles of IM and its metabolites in human urine were successfully determined after oral administration of IM at the therapeutic dosage of 0.1 mg.  相似文献
