Convergence estimates of Galerkin-wavelet solutions to a Cauchy problem for a class of periodic pseudodifferential equations

A class of Cauchy problems for interesting complicated periodic pseudodifferential equations is considered. By the Galerkin-wavelet method and with weak solutions one can find sufficient conditions to establish convergence estimates of weak Galerkin-wavelet solutions to a Cauchy problem for this class of equations.

     

New carbon nanofiber/graphite felt composite for use as a catalyst support for hydrazine catalytic decomposition

Graphite felt supporting 40 nm diameter carbon nanofibers was synthesized and successfully used as a support for a high loaded iridium catalyst (30 wt%) in the decomposition of hydrazine; a strong mechanical resistance and a high thermal conductivity led to a very efficient and stable catalyst as compared to that used industrially, iridium supported on a high surface area alumina.     

Synthesis of CoFe2O4 nanowire in carbon nanotubes. A new use of the confinement effect

Cobalt ferrite nanowires with an average diameter of 50 nm and lengths up to several micrometers were synthesized inside carbon nanotubes under mild reaction conditions using the confinement effect provided by the carbon tubular template.     

Fast determination of the tin content in cassiterite ores by photon activation method

Photon activation analysis has been success-fully applied to the fast and non-destructive analysis of tin in cassiterite ores based on the 159.7 keV gamma line of^123mSn produced in the¹²⁴Sn/γ, n/^123mSn reaction. In order to improve the accuracy of analytical results, corrections for self-absorption and pile-up effects were performed. Under typical conditions /15 μA electron beam current, 15 MeV bremsstrahlung energy, 5 min irradiation time and 10 min measurement/ the sensitivity of the analysis is 10 ppm. The proposed method can be used for routine analysis of tin in geological samples.     

Mass Spectrometry of Some Benzylidene Imidazolidinediones and Thiazolidinediones. II- chlorobenzyl imidazolidinedione and Fluoro or Chlorobenzyl Thiazolidinedione Compounds

In the present investigation, a study of the electron impact mass spectrometry data is reported for seven compounds of a series of some 3-(4-chlorobenzyl)-5-benzylidene-imidazolidine-2, 4-diones and 3-(4-fluoro or chlorobenzyl)-5-benzylidene-thiazolidine-2, 4-diones previously synthesized.     

Redox‐responsive core cross‐linked micelles of poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(furfuryl methacrylate) by Diels‐Alder reaction for doxorubicin release

Redox‐responsive core cross‐linked (CCL) micelles of poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(furfuryl methacrylate) (PEO‐b‐PFMA) block copolymers were prepared by the Diels‐Alder click‐type reaction. First, the PEO‐b‐PFMA amphiphilic block copolymer was synthesized by the reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The hydrophobic blocks of PFMA were employed to encapsulate the doxorubicin (DOX) drug, and they were cross‐linked using dithiobismaleimidoethane at 60 °C without any catalyst. Under physiological circumstance, the CCL micelles demonstrated the enhanced structural stability of the micelles, whereas dissociation of the micelles took place rapidly through the breaking of disulfide bonds in the cross‐linking linkages under reduction environment. The core‐cross‐linked micelles showed fine spherical distribution with hydrodynamic diameter of 68 ± 2.9  nm. The in vitro drug release profiles presented a slight release of DOX at pH 7.4, while a significant release of DOX was observed at pH 5.0 in the presence of 1,4‐dithiothreitol. MTT assays demonstrated that the block copolymer did not have any practically cytotoxicity against the normal HEK293 cell line while DOX‐loaded CCL micelles exhibited a high antitumor activity towards HepG2 cells. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Estimation of radon and thoron caused dose at exraction and processing sites of mineral sand mining area in Vietnam (HA TINH province)

Mineral sands are mined in several countries to supply to the titanium and zircon producing industries. Coastal black mineral sands usually contain, besides ilmenite (FeTiO₃) and rutile (TiO₂), radioactive minerals such as zircon (ZrSiO₄) and monazite (RePO₄). Radon and thoron activity concentration originated from natural radioactive contents of the black mineral sand was monitored at the extraction and processing for black minerals in the coastal areas of Ha Tinh Province, one of the around 40 coastal mineral sand deposits in Vietnam. The survey was carried out with the Raduet chambers made by Radosys Ltd—Hungary. The obtained results for 25 investigated points show that the measured values are not high in the residential houses and in case of the sand extraction site as well. At the titanium processing plant the measured values were higher than outside the facility (Radon: 18–55 Bq/m³ with average of 34 Bq/³ and Thoron 33–118 Bq/m³ with average of 58 Bq/m³) but still comparable to the average concentration of the world published by UNSCEAR. The typical outdoor levels of radon and thoron gas are each of the order of 10 Bq/m³. Although the radon concentrations were low in the zircon and titanium processing plants, the thoron concentrations in the houses for separating rutile and zircon were very high. At zircon processing factory, the thoron concentration could reach 2,931 Bq/m³ and the estimated annual effective dose would be 21.4 mSv/a. Intervention has to be taken in order to reduce the thoron level in this factory since the level of thoron and its progenies corresponding to an annual occupational effective dose is beyond the action level of 6 mSv/a.     

Acylated flavonoid glycosides from Barringtonia racemosa

Abstract

Using various chromatographic separations, three new acylated flavonoid glycosides, namely barringosides G–I (1–3), were isolated from the water-soluble extract of Barringtonia racemosa branches and leaves. The structure elucidation was performed by extensive analysis of the 1D and 2D NMR and HR-QTOF-MS data. Of the isolated compounds, barringoside I (3) showed moderate inhibitory effects on LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells with an IC₅₀ of 52.48?±?1.04?µM.
