One new azaphilone derivative, named xylariphilone (1), along with 10 known compounds was isolated from the seagrass-derived fungus Xylariales sp. PSU-ES163. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The absolute and relative configurations of 1 were determined by circular dichroism spectroscopy and NOEDIFF data. The antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the isolated compounds were evaluated.  相似文献

The natural rubber latex (NRL) film taken from medical surgical gloves was surface-modified with a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma treatment under an air environment. The results showed that surface hydrophilicity of the NRL film increased after the plasma treatment due to the presence of oxygen-containing polar groups on the plasma-treated surface. An increase in plasma treatment time increased the surface roughness of the NRL film, and eventually decreased the mechanical properties. From the obtained results, the optimum plasma treatment time of 20?s was chosen. After immersion in a chitosan solution, the amount of chitosan deposited on the plasma-treated NRL film increased with increasing chitosan concentrations. The chitosan coating smoothed the surface of the plasma-treated NRL film and also improved the mechanical properties. The highest antibacterial activities of the chitosan-coated DBD plasma-treated NRL film against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were achieved when a 2?%(w/v) chitosan solution was used for the coating.  相似文献

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of mungbean water extract (MWE) on insulin downstream signaling in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells. Whole seed mungbean was extracted using boiling water, mimicking a traditional cooking method. Vitexin and isovitexin were identified in MWE. The results showed that MWE inhibited protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP)-1B (IC50 = 10 μg/mL), a negative regulator of insulin signaling. MWE enhanced cellular glucose uptake and altered expression of genes involved in glucose metabolism, including forkhead box O1 (FOXO1), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), and glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3β in the insulin-resistant HepG2 cells. In addition, MWE inhibited both α-amylase (IC50 = 36.65 mg/mL) and α-glucosidase (IC50 = 3.07 mg/mL). MWE also inhibited the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) (IC50 = 2.28 mg/mL). This is the first study to show that mungbean water extract increased cellular glucose uptake and improved insulin sensitivity of insulin-resistant HepG2 cells through PTP-1B inhibition and modulating the expression of genes related to glucose metabolism. This suggests that mungbean water extract has the potential to be a functional ingredient for diabetes.  相似文献

Biodiesel-processing factories employing the alkali-catalyzed transesterification process generate a large amount of wastewater containing high amount of methanol, glycerol, and oil. As such, wastewater has high potential to produce biogas using anaerobic treatment. The aim of this research was to investigate the performance of an anaerobic baffled reactor for organic removal and biogas production from biodiesel wastewater. The effect of different organic loading rates, varying from 0.5 kg m−3 d−1 to 3.0 kg m−3 d−1 of chemical oxygen demand, was determined using three 22 L reactors, each comprising five separate compartments. Wastewater was pretreated with chemical coagulants to partially remove oil prior to experimentation. Results show that the anaerobic baffled reactor operated at 1.5 kg m−3 d−1 of chemical oxygen demand and ten days of hydraulic retention time provided the best removal efficiencies of 99 % of chemical oxygen demand, 100 % of methanol, and 100 % of glycerol. Increasing the organic loading rate over 1.5 kg m−3 d−1 of chemical oxygen demand led to excessive accumulation of volatile fatty acids thereby making the pH drop to a value unfavorable for methanogenesis. The biogas production rate was 12 L d−1 and the methane composition accounted for 64–74 %. Phase-separated characteristics revealed that the highest chemical oxygen demand removal percentage was achieved in the first compartment and the removal efficiency gradually decreased longitudinally. A scanning electron microscopic study indicated that the most predominant group of microorganisms residing on the external surface of the granular sludge was Methanosarcina.  相似文献
